  1. Gabriel had 14 Carries which is 6 more than he’s had all season. It’s like they knew we weren’t gonna spy him at all and they were right. Good thing we made no adjustments after the halftime of eating corn dogs and watching the bama replay jerking each other off.

How many of those Carrie’s were designed runs, called by the OU staff after figuring out that we weren’t spying him?

  2. You know Oklahoma is going to the SEC too right?

I guess an argument could be made that a Texas loss would be the best chance to make sure that neither one of us are me up in the playoffs which could be something that Yormack would find appealing.
  3. No, you were told that because a) it’s worked, b) it’s led to big plays with Worthy passing, c) it opens other plays, d) Sarkisian isn’t just pulling plays out of a bag, and e) Sarkisian has seen how OU defends those plays… or when they think those plays are coming.
That you take a throwaway line and use that for the reason your take is bad shouldn’t be surprising, I guess.
If/when Sarkisian gives that look and takes advantage of the reaction, against OU or someone else, it will be interesting to see your take.

If we are talking about the quick sideline pass, the plays “worked” against KU, IMO. I say that because in each instance, we got the ball to an athlete, in space with just one guy to beat, no one else in the frame. That SHOULD be a winnable scenario. KU repeatedly made great solo plays in space except maybe once or twice.

All of that, of course, will not ever satisfy those whose analysis is, “The play didn’t work, so it was obviously a terrible play call.”

  4. Bush won because ESPN started blowing him with “total yards” and he ran back a crapton of kicks, even though his average was below that of Texas’ kick returner..

I was just discussing this the other day with a client. Specifically, the late season Fresno State game resulted in an insane total yardage number because USC got scored on a bunch. His average yards/return was not even in the top half of college football players statistically, but he had a ton of them.

  5. I don't understand the "logic" of getting a flu shot but not a covid shot.  Your body, your choice, but I'd go the other direction.

I don’t even think of the COVID jab a an actual “booster” anymore. I just think of it as an annual shot, like the flu shot which you just get every year. Makes sense for me too since I got a risk factor or 2.
  6. So we went and got the flu shot and latest Covid booster today at CVS (It had been about a year and a half since our latest, and not having the flu is nice).  Short an easy on that front.  I don't often go to a pharmacy, I'm fortunate and generally pretty healthy, as is my wife.  However, while we were there we witnessed 2 different people arguing over "lost" prescriptions and getting real ugly with staff.  It was clearly drug seeking behavior, because each time they were asked to provide contact info for their doctors they went immediately in a different direction.  The one guy even started begging instead for just a 5 or 7 day refill.  First, I felt bad for the people working in the pharmacy; to myself wondering if this is ordinary shit they see.  As I said, I rarely am at a pharmacy, is this normal?

    It happens ALL THE TIME.

It’s amazing thy somehow, my wife can accurately count blood pressure meds and statins but somehow benzos and opioids trigger some inability to perform that function, because somehow, no one ever claims a miscounted bottle of run of the mill meds. It’s only the ones that get people high: weird coincidence.

  7. Glad you brought that up. Unfucking unforgivable that you don't give your backup qb some decent playing time when you have a comfortable lead. We didn't need much to win that Alabama game in 09. One or two completions, as I recall.

Yeah. Of course, calling every series as:

    Run
    Run
    Pass

didn’t help GG out very much.
  8. Is he only being prosecuted in the federal system?

In one post you discussed the disaster of a “failure to convict”, but also, where applicable (state cases) you discuss mot bargaining for anything less than prison. Prosecutors often have to weigh those two things. For DOTARD, and this question isn’t loaded at all, would you support the prosecution agreeing to a really light sentence, possibly without real confinement, if it meant a conviction of the offenses?

Personally, I’m not sure how I feel about it.

I think I might be ok with it, simply because the scenario of a long drawn out trial resulting in an acquittal makes blood lose from my ears.

  9. They didn’t get “invited” there. They won a semifinal game to make it. Something we’ve never even played in. So yeah it sounds pretty stupid and aggie like to make fun of them for that. We went 8-5 last year. They went 13-2. You seriously think we had the better season? Oh yeah and they beat us for the 8th time in 11 times since joining the conference.

You’re aware that TCU and Texas have been in the same conference for a lot longer than 11 years, right?

  10. Right. My point was that it is not correct to say “DA’s have a list”, when, per the article, “many” refused to disclose the names or even number of cops on their list.

So, just to be clear, some DA’s/CA’s do not have any list at all. None. There is no list and it is intentional that they do not have one. A few prosecutors will know about a “bad Apple” and not take cases from them…for a while…time goes on with some turnover in the office and all of the sudden, that cop’s history is forgotten and then it’s like nothing ever happened. So, to say that some choose not to use the list isn’t totally accurate, since some do not have a list at all.

    * I haven’t even begun to discuss how trial court judges bend over backwards in A LOT of jurisdictions to keep “bad stuff” about cops from coming into evidence at trial.

For example, I can not count how many times I’ve seen trials where a cop’s disciplinary history related to false reports is excluded from evidence completely.

  11. DA's already have a list of cops not to put on the stand.

That’s a totally naive take. I can tell you first hand that there some counties that do not even maintain a list AT ALL, much less give a single shit about putting them on the stand.

I’m on a mission currently to get a cop terminated in Gatesville. He’s been there less than a year. He was at KISD prior to that for about a year. He was hired there after being fired by KPD for excessive force and misleading his supervisor regarding facts pertaining to probable cause, in order to get authorization to strip swatch a suspect.

I’ve started just emailing all individual prosecuting attorneys the info so that they are deemed to have possession and knowledge of it. I’m doing this because one cool way of trampling on the rule of law is to just willfully make sure that you don’t find out the bad shit so you aren’t obligated.

Makes my blood boil. If I get a chance tomorrow, I’ll just cut and paste the entire record tomorrow.

*. I will note that the felony prosecutor in Bell County (DA) takes this stuff seriously. When he has cases set for trial with KPD as the agency, he proactively subpoenas the personnel files, so that the judge can do an in camera inspection for any Brady stuff which then gets turned over to the defense. Also note that it’s fucked up that they even HAVE TO DO THIS. The issue, as I understand it is that the agency was not being forthcoming with that info.

  12. Administration error of the spot. No harm done and no time off the clock. I’ve seen games where at like the end of the 1st Qtr, ball spotted on the left hash, they switch fields, and the ball is now placed on the right hash “erroneously”, therefore officials TO and correct it prior to play resuming.

Just saying - it happens, just usually not on the big stage.

    Hook’em!!!

Also, I’m trying to read the actual rules and I *think* the deal with not reviewing the spot was correct last night, but a really dumb fucking rule. From what I’ve read, they can only use replay review to determine if a ball carrier made a first down or TD, or to just correct a routine spot in other situations.

That is a stupid rule because 3 yards are 3 yards. For a first down, yards 1-3 are just as important as yards 8-10. It shouldn’t even need a challenge. It should be one of those quick fix things like we see in the NFL now.
  13. So dipshit Bob Cole was actually a bit subdued, compared to his usual over the top carnival barker act.

But that void was filled by the miked up dickhead on the field. The fuckface actually gave instructions on how to do Texas Fight.

Oh! And we have a new thing! After every first down…Bob Cole says: First Down….TEXAS! Crowd says…. “FIGHT!”

Thank God nobody actually did that gay ass high school shit. The best Texas Fights were organic and started by the cheerleaders.

Whoever came up with that idea needs to be shot, along with miked up douchebag.

Bob is not the one saying “Texas”. He says first down like always. Miked up dickhead then yells Texas!

I hate it so much because for 25+ years now I have ridiculed other teams that do organized celebrations for first fucking downs.

That guy on the field has to go. It’s almost like he was planted there to make us somehow less irritated at the other shit we usually get ragey about.

  14.
    I’ve got Texas 56, Rice 3
texas is a 35.5 point favorite and the over under is 59.5. At our book we just put down Texas and the under and the odds were +510.
So glad football is back in our lives.

Are you saying that you bet a parlay with Texas to cover and the under and the odds for the parlay are +510?
