25-22 set 2 win for Texas. This has to be demoralizing for TCU. Not sure they can play much better defensively and it hasn't mattered.

Texas finding a way to win even when things aren't going well is good for future matches.

Would be nice to pick up that back row attack. We blocked it once.

Would be nice if TX had a consistent back row attack...

I'm really surprised that Logan isn't playing all the way around...but just watching her, she doesn't look ready yet...always a step slow and seems out of position  on defense.  There are so many freshman players on other teams who didn't have the accolades that Logan did who are playing all 6 rotations...and doing it well...it's just frustrating because that is the big knock on the Tx coaches.

If we can’t terminate we’re going to lose. Gotta figure something out.

Yeah, we don't have a Haley or Bailey that can hit over the block or a Paulina that can just blast through the block.....Amy Neal  knew how to hit around and tool the block...and no Chiaka who could kill any slide attack.

Hopefully, this will be the last time we have 3 freshmen hitting the wall all in the same match (Brionne, Katarina, and at times Sydney).

This has been an odd match. Ball control has been good but we just can't terminate. Complete opposite of how we normally play.

Yeah, TCU just knows where the Texas players like to hit at...they are picking up everything.

How do you pick between benching Hahn or Rounsaville? Honest question, because besides the Stanford match, for two years I feel like they both have been equally weak at service errors and ball control.

But I just took a quick peek at their HS bios, and it seems like they were just about equal to Petersen in terms of being recognized statewide and nationally prior to arriving at Texas. So I don’t know if it’s a recruiting problem or a development problem, but it seems to keep happening.

As long as Autumn doesn't serve, she should be ahead of Hahn....and Jhenna should be moved into Hahn's spot ASAP...

Yeah, I cannot put my finger on it, but I just kind of get this weird "vibe" off her like she's not happy or not giving 100% or something.  Can't even articulate it.  She's the logical leader, but I am not the least bit surprised that she hasn't taken on that role.

Agree...she's like the modern flower child...talented as fuck, but doesn't give a fuck

missed it tonight.  how did ashley and micaya play?

Shook is Shook....sometimes looks like an elite setter....other times plays like a bench player.

Micaya was consistent this match, scoring 21 Kills and hitting @ .383...She's been a steady player....but I feel like I keep waiting for her to take it to another level and always get disappointed she doesn't play to her potential....I am seriously waiting for her to play at a Destinee Hooker level...

They should have done this weeks ago. We're already playing a bunch of underclassmen. Might as well go all in with the more talented players even if they are young.

Exactly....start Jhenna Gabriel ahead of Hahn!

  9. BENCH Claire Hahn...Build for the future and put Jhenna Gabriel in her spot. Even if Claire comes in to situationally serve for Micaya, it keeps her OFF the court!

Other than that, I liked the switch between Morgan and Brionne in the line-up...it gives Brionne more opportunities to touch the ball at M1, which she will learn she needs to be more consistent at.  Morgan at M2 is a more natural position for her IMO since she has 2 pin hitters in the front row with her to spread out the block.  I predicted that would happen and that Brionne would be serving...I'm glad to see those changes were made.

  10. Yep, Lexi played all 6 rotations until conference started...then she was front row only and served (similar to what Logan is doing now). Again, I think Jerritt wanted better ball control at the time, but Autumn wasn’t much of an upgrade IMO.

But if anyone has watched Nebraska’s last two matches where Lexi was in the lineup as a 6 rotation player, she and the team are actually dominating.  They do have a freshman setter, but she’s getting great passes from Foecke and their Libero & DS, so she is running a pretty diverse offense. They are hiding Lexi in serve-receive,  and in the rotations she is passing, she isn’t covering much space. But NU has the passers that can do that. And it’s pretty ridiculous to see what Lexi does with consistent setting...

Yes,  "a bit raw" is a good way to put it.  She will probably be unreal in another season.  How much are redshirts allowed to practice?

Brionne came in as an offensive weapon.  It was her defense that needed catching up (and the area where she needs to continue to improve) because as others have pointed out, she's still a step slow reading the setter when the opposing team is in-system.

Redshirts have unlimited practice time once they are with the team, so she scrimmaged against the 1's all last season.  Her 'real' experience will be this year playing against live competition.

On a side note, it's pretty frustrating to see Logan still not being allowed to play all 6 rotations yet.  She was a 6-rotation starter in all the USA Youth ('16 & '17) and Junior ('18) National Teams matches, while playing with the international Mikasa ball (it's harder to control) and her passing/ball control was fine.  I guess I can see Jerritt wanting more ball control from the DS's for the tough, non-conference matches but I also think it's hindering her development...and probably harder for her to develop any kind of rhythm coming in and out of the line-up every 3 rotations.  Having Logan in the back row will also open up a hitting outlet for both in-and out-of-system sets.
