  1. Also add in the front row player heights of the 2022 Class:

    MB - 6'4 Marianna Singletary

OH/OPP - 6'4 Devin Kahahawai (She looks like she has grown when standing next to team members on the U18 team that recently took bronze at the World Championship)

    OH - 6'0 Kenna Miller

Texas will be good upfront for years to come.....now if we could only improve our ball control....🙃

This L’vile squad is so good. Just swept Corn in Lincoln

For how much crap I give Elliott about not developing perfect passing and ball control players, I really appreciate his ability to develop OHs that can put the ball away with out-of-system sets.

Nebraska fans are blaming the passing and setting for their losses, but in reality both are actually decent (compared to what Texas is currently showing).  What's holding them back is their lack of a terminal hitters who can go up against a double block and still get a kill.  A team like Nebraska relies too much of being in-system for their offense to have any success.

I do think there has to be a balance between the two.... I just think when Texas is in-system, we are more difficult to stop especially since the left pin hitters can bail us out on out-of-system plays.  It would be nice if Molly could develop her OOS game on the right pin so that we aren't so predictable in setting the left in those situations.

Glad SKT got some playing time but her sets late in the third were abysmal and predictable a bit. Idk.

Backrow attack set to Eggleston looked too high from what Jhenna has been setting.  The slide attack to Asjia was more Asjia's fault b/c she wasn't expecting it.  The set to Skylar went behind her.   So yeah, just no timing in general with her and the hitters right now.  If SKT is in, she should just set nice controlled balls to the left pin for Skylar to  go up and get...

Our middles want to touch every ball and really fuck our defense sometimes.  Someone is coming to dig it behind them and either isn’t communicating or idk and they stab at it

Yeah, that's been bothering me the past couple of matches...if they are going to do that, at least bump it high and into the court.

Wish there was a crying laughing reaction.

Yeah, I wish there was a pic of Papa Sun at the match to see his reaction of Lexi not starting, especially since the match was in Cali.

It’s more of a surprise that Cook actually changed his lineup and went with his Freshmen. He should have done it sooner. Lexi hasn’t progressed at all since she transferred. Sure, she got to play back row, but I think that was a requirement for her and her dad to transfer there.  And they’ve lost more matches because of it IMO.  Sure, she may have played in a National title match 3 years ago, but that had more to do with Foecke carrying that team than anything. Now, Sun isn’t even on the court…

I will say Jerritt has chilled out more with reprimanding players on the sidelines for poor play after she transferred… so I think that helped with team culture.

Hard to tell if she can play all 6 rotations or not

Yeah, hopefully Devin comes in as a Spring enrollee and starts working at it. She made the USA U18 volleyball roster as a OH and will be competing in Mexico later this month, so if she starts, she'll be playing all the way around. She also plays all 6 rotations at the club level.

We lose Petersen and possibly Parra next season (Melanie liked a comment when someone asked her if this would be her last year at Texas on IG), but we gain Halter.  So unless Heinrich is strong enough to play back row, Devin will need to play all the way around with Logan, since Halter will most likely be DSing for Skylar.

I honestly haven't seen any film on Kenna Miller so don't really know what her ball control skills are like...what I have read/heard is that she is hidden in serve receive at times, but she has a live arm and good hops for a 6' player.

I guess Jhenna could be an option as a DS player next season if they want to strictly go with SKT or Cabello at setter, but in a recent interview, she said she hated having that role her freshman year, prior to taking over setting duties from Shook...but she may not have a choice in the matter if she does decide to come back (she already graduated, but will be using her extra Covid year to finish her Master's program).

Ok I am over Gabriel.  Perfect pass, fucks up the set. Free ball, doesn’t bother going to Butler

It's gonna be interesting to see if Elliott sticks with her or goes with another setter with a week off and then entering the conference schedule.

I think Gabriel brings the emotional leadership intangible that Shook lacked and most often than not  she knows how to set her hitters.   I just wonder how the players will react if they have to adjust to a new setter.

But it'd be nice to have a bigger setter block that doesn't get abused.

Texas secured a commitment from No. 11 Nya Bunton out of Kentucky for 2023. 6’2 MB

2023: S Ella Swindle (Columbia, MO); MB Nya Bunton (Louisville, KY); OPP Auburn Thomkinson (Carlsbad, CA); OH - Sydney Helmers (Louisville, KY)

We only have 1 Texan in the 22/23 classes - 2022 has Indianapolis, Charleston and Justin, TX. We are also still holding out for the OH from Hawaii.

    The 2022 class has:

L/DS - Halter 5'4 (who is ranked the #1 Indiana recruit by some recruiting services)

    MB - Singletary 6'4

    OH - Miller 6'0

    * Getting 6'3 Kahahawai would be icing on the cake. I can see her playing as a 6-rotation Opp next season, with Molly moving back to MB when Butler graduates.

Texas gained some serious height on the front line with the 2023 class:

    S - Swindle 6'2

MB - Bunton 6'4 (from 2021 USA U18 training roster; Bunton has been listed anywhere from 6'2-6'5, depending on the recruiting service, but some of those services haven't updated heights from when they were ranked ~ 2 years ago.)

    OPP & Lefty - Tomkinson 6'4

    OH - Helmers 6'3
