Ahh I need to go there again!  When I was young, my family owned a camera shop down the road and we would stop there all the time to pick up breakfast on the way when I'd hang out at the shop during the summers as a kid.  But that was over 20years ago, totally forgot this place existed until last weekend when I was watching the San Antonio episode of Taco Chronicles on Netflix and it made me think of Taco House.  Think I'm going to try to go there this weekend.

Can you really not use screen shots for tickets? My parents bought me tickets to the TCU game and don’t understand technology.

I don't know if some tickets are different than others but with my season tickets, you can screen shot them and use them that way.  I typically have poor reception around the stadium so ever since they started using the electronic tickets, I have screenshotted my tickets before heading up to Austin and used the screen shot to get in for every game and have never had any issues.

  3. Feel free to flame me if I end up wrong, just passing along what I've heard for those that are curious. But I'm in SA and know someone who spent several years with the Spurs organization and another person who is close friends with someone in the organization currently that all of you would know. And both of them have given credence to the whole murder story in re to Primo. It's not totally solid so take it for what it's worth

I work on Broadway by Lincoln Heights, just a few minutes down the road from the Zitos at Broadway and 410 and have for almost 10 years. Finally tried Zitos for the 1st time a few months ago and quickly realized how stupid I was for depriving myself of those beautiful sandwiches for so damn long, its almost a weekly visit for me now. Best Italian sandwhich I've ever had

Dinner at the casino restaurant on Wednesday was a nice start to the week for my wife and I.

Appreciate the rec!  My birthday is on Friday so we were planning to hit up the casino that day after the practice rounds but I'm wondering how busy it's going to be with F1 crowd there on Friday, Wednesday may be the better option.

So who all is going to Montreal?

Flying in Thursday. Have tickets for the family grandstand.

If you see a dude in a Longhorn hat with his wife and kid, just yell out Ted Cruz sucks. I'll know you're from the Internet.

I'll be there, flying out at 5 am tomorrow morning.  It's me and my girlfriend's first race to travel to so super excited to get there!  Unfortunately, we got GA tickets which I have heard are less than ideal for Montreal but hoping to get there early enough to at least get a somewhat decent view.  Definitely regretting being a cheap ass and not springing for grandstand tickets but I'm sure it'll be alright, just going to try and scope out some good spots Thursday & Friday and try to get there really early on race day.

  7. Really shitty.  My great grandparents used to live right down the street from there, during the summers my parents would drop me and my little brother off at there house to spend the day there while they went to work and at least once a week, we would walk to Jacala for lunch.  Had a lot of great memories there with my great grandparents before they passed.

  8. If y'all thought McLaren's livery was bad before, just wait till you see it now after their new sponsorship deal with the Android logo and Google Chrome rim covers. I was finally starting to come around on the original livery a little bit but it's just too much for me to get over now

Pardon my ignorance on F1. So far the only thing I know of F1 is whatever they showed on Drive to Survive.

I'm confused about the evolution of some of the teams... can someone help me out?

    • Force India became Racing Point, which then became Aston Martin?
    • Renault became Alpine
    • Sauber became Alfa Romeo

Did I get that right?  If so... how come Renault/Alpine is now sporting the same pink livery that Racing Point used to have?

You're correct.  The pink comes from BWT which was the primary sponsor of Force India/Racing Point but is now sponsor of Alpine starting with this season, they require the team they sponsor to incorporate their pink color into their livery

  10. Not sure of the recipe that you're looking for but I actually just cooked some chicken breast last night that I had marinated with a marinade that includes chipotle peppers in adobo sauce, I've done this marinade several times over the years.  For the marinade, you use olive oil, honey, some cut chipotle peppers, adobo sauce, garlic, diced onion, and a little bit of salt, pepper, and cumin.  I like it, it's got a bit of a sweet taste to it but if you're not into that, just cut out the honey from the recipe.  I think it comes out pretty good, I usually eat it straight or cut it up and mix it into some rice, my girlfriend usually cuts hers up and puts into it a salad.

Tragedy. From the looks of it, there is nothing else in Montreal to see at all. May as well cancel the trip. 😁

We had tossed around the idea of doing the pit walk, but then saw that it's a "sprint" weekend so figured that we will end up spending enough time at the track during the weekend. Plan on using the Thursday just to get a feel for the city and explore a bit.

Exactly, I texted my girlfriend and told her well, bad news, no pit walk like we were looking forward to. But good news, that gives us another day to explore Montreal

We specifically planned our trip to Montreal in June so we could attend the pit lane walk.  My wife is not going to the race, but she was excited to go to the pit lane walk on Thursday.

    Furk.

Yeah, same here.  We just booked our AirBnB 2 nights ago and planned it around getting there so that we can do the pit walk on Thursday, that was one of the things we were most excited about since we are pretty new to this and have never done that before, real bummer

I had tickets in my fucking cart, was trying to enter payment info and the website crashed. Now no tickets available

Same, refreshed for 10 minutes before I was able to get into the website, then chose 2 in the dropdown, clicked "add tickets" and then the website crashed again.  I checked again at about 10:30 and was able to actually add the tickets and am now in a queue for tickets but it's been about 20 minutes now so I'm not hopeful I'm going to actually be able to get through.

  14. Did anybody manage to snag GA tix for the Floore's show just now?  I got on the second they went on sale and the GA section said "Available" when I hovered over it for about 5 minutes before the sale ended but anytime I tried adding 2 tickets and entering the presale code, I got a message that said something to the effect of "There are not enough presale tickets available for your selection.  Try selecting 0 or fewer".  🤬 I even saw the VIP section go from "available" to "unavailable" after a few minutes but the whole time it showed "available", I still got the same message that there aren't enough tickets, try 0 or fewer

Oh how the mighty have fallen.  You enjoy getting all pumped up for mighty UTSA. No UTSA fan will be talking shit about UT next year.

Maybe some lifelong Aggie fans who didn't get into aTm will be talking shit. You don't seem like you know UTSA fans.

I'm a lifelong San Antonian and went to grad school at UTSA so UTSA is my other team.  Maybe we know different UTSA fans but I'm on some UTSA Facebook groups and they are constantly trashing UT and trying to compare themselves to them like some weird A&M little brother vs big brother dynamic.  Based on the UTSA fans I've been witness to, I am pretty sure they are going to be talking mad shit leading up to that game.

  16. Ughh really wish I would have done more research on this before being caught off guard with that email this morning.  Been doing research now and seeing a lot re the GA areas not providing good vantage points of the race.  Grandstand 47 doesn't seem like the most exciting part of the track but I believe they were only about $45USD more than the GA tickets that I bought, at least we'd have a seat and a vantage point to actually see the cars.  Oh well, live and learn, I'm just excited to get to be there at least.

Where did you see tickets on sale? I thought they didn't go until Dec. 15.

They're on the F1 website.  I had put in my email to get notified when the tickets go on sale a month or so ago and got the email this morning.  When I first checked, there were 2 grandstand sections sold out, when I bought our tickets a little later, there were 4 grandstands sold out, and the last I checked there were 7 sold out so looks like they're going fast.

  18. I got tix for me and the lady this morning.  I'm cheap so I got GA.  Did I fuck up or are there some good GA vantage points?  I understand some of the grandstands will obviously offer better views than GA but we did GA for our first race this year in Austin and got fine enough views at turn 7 and turn 12.
