We just saw a play where the receiver kept running straight so the DB was directly on top of him jamming him 15 yards downfield. It's not common, I'm just saying it's perfectly legal in college.

Missed it. Ran an errand. Looks like there's a lot of grabbing going on out there. Which is pure bullshit. Refs need to clamp down on that crap. Lazy sacks of shit

Not in college. If you stay on top of the receiver on college you can maintain contact all the way down the field.

Pretty sure there still isn't even an illegal contact penalty in the rules against an eligible receiver.

Huh? Can't believe that. You can run show in front of a receiver for a second or two, but when he tries to go around you, you gotta grab onto him. And that's illegal

  3. If you're stopping someone from running their route after (what is it, 5 yards?), it's interference, holding, or illegal contact. Shoulda been called.

Don't go outside. Run middle screens and crossing routes.

Largely agree, but one thing that has bothered me this year - we saw ASU throw at least one swing pass where the entire side of the field was open. Whenever we run a swing, it seems like it is to the side where we have two receivers and 2-3 defenders. I'd like to see a couple of those open field type swings reminiscent of Emmett Smith Cowboys.

That terrible interception that gave ASU even more life kind of clouded my memory of the final 2 drives, coupled with the missed FGs. But yes, he did make some good passes on those drives, especially the very last drive. Not sure why Sark committed to the FG so early after that very long pass with how inconsistent Auburn has been. Still not sure he fully trusts Quinn but I wasn't a fan of that run call right after the long gain. ASU's defense was reeling and I think we could have gotten another chunk play or maybe even score a TD to end it. Especially seeing we still had a timeout left and clock stops on 1st downs.

But we are done with the cupcakes of the playoffs in Clemson and Arizona State. Stuff Quinn has been getting away is going to much more difficult against Ohio State. It seems we start reeling once we get up early. Doubt we get a big early lead next week and that could be the best thing for us. Forces Sark and the offense to know they have to keep up with the great Ohio St offense. The 3rd qtr against ASU wore this defense down and they started getting bigger runs as the game went along. Same thing that happened in the SEC champ game. Defense just ran out of juice because the offense wasn't pulling their weight.

Agree. To me, the goal for this season was not to beat an ASU, it's to beat the teams that are a notch above them. Quinn underthrew two or three long (what would have been) TD passes. Was that arm strength, or maybe a lingering ankle/leg strength problem? Add to that his reluctance to take the quick 5-10 yards on a scramble and we got a problem against OSU. Quinn can't outrace a linebacker to the sidelines.

OTOH, he made some terrific plays yesterday. Kuddos for those, but he needs to kick it up a notch to get past OSU. We need to be done with these Dead Zone Quarters when the offense falls apart. Part of it is on Sark. Maybe he needs to ask more of Quinn? He gave him several chances at the long ball. Quinn got one out of maybe 3 or 4. Maybe add 3-4 RPOs/quick runs. Might open up the field a little more.

  6. Teammates need to hold Burt down and shave his fucking head. The guy needs a fucking lobotomy. He needs a shock to the system, a rude awakening, and he needs to get his head on straight which is probably gonna be tough with all that fucking hair and his helmet bouncing aound distracting him. Get him a tight as fuck helmet. Do something about that head case.

Thinking about all the little moments, it was called out here because it was so bad but it was forgotten because of a false start and then converting 4th and 13.

What in the actual fuck was DeAndre Moore doing avoiding the open space on 3rd and long to go out of bounds with the game on the line? I mean holy shit that was just crazy to watch happen.

No fucking shit. I was screaming at the TV. Was he trying to stop the clock? Talk about a lack of awareness

Watching this OSU game…Sark needs to move off the run game early next week if it starts looking like Georgia / ASU 2.0. These guys are going to put up points and we can’t waste any drives getting behind the sticks.

If we can control the LOS and keep our D off the field. A good mixture is still the best bet. Sark called the right plays at the right time today. Will need to do it even harder next week. Quinn needs to get his long ball shit together. Coulda had two add'l long TD passes if he hadn't underthrown/thrown behind two receivers

They didnt want to decide the game on that play. It was targeting. It was helmet to helmet. Them not calling that was the most shocking thing of the day after the way they had officiated up to that point in ASU's favor.

If you look at the rule, a few posts back, the refs got it right. Clean straight up hit. No intention to maim. Great stop, btw

  10. The Defense stepped up to meet a real challenge today. They're the unknown, in that we really aren't sure if any offense can beat them.  Bodes well for OSU matchup.

    and...

Today... the O and Quinn really stepped up when the chips were down. They would not be denied. REceiver made catches. RBs didn't fumble... and made some runs.

Still, we gotta do better. Kinda get the feeling this offense will improve next week
