Good question. Is that stated anywhere? Usually schools have zero tolerance policies regardless of who started it.

Just now, royiv said:Why are you trying so hard to find a reason to defend her attackers and those that enabled them? In your newest scenario, is Nex now to blame if she snapped after being bullied for months?
I'm not. That was in reply to someone wondering why Nex was suspended.

2 hours ago, Mrs Whiggins said:According to several news articles, this (bullying) does appear to be the impetus for the fight in the (female) bathroom between the victim, another transgender youth, and several older girls (all unnamed save for Nex Benedict). One point is that due to Oklahoma law, students must use school bathrooms according to gender assigned at birth. I doubt that the adults involved will discuss that law as pertaining to any bullying (SEE: Earlier post, CYA mode). Also a quote by Benedict's biological grandmother, Sue Benedict, stated that she had raised Nex since Nex was two months old. Nex was a member of the Choctaw nation and while I agree that families do not always support non binary youth, we do not know exactly the reason for the family situation at this time.
I expect the ISD, the Oklahoma AG, the state's Secretary of Education and Superintendent of Instruction, and the Governor to offer thoughts and prayers and not lose a wink of sleep. I could elaborate on why that is, but it would go way off topic into the politics of a state that has been corrupt from before its inception.
You think they would have been better off using the boys bathroom?

Ok, maybe Nex started this incident? Not saying there wasn't a lead up over months etc.. but maybe Nex had enough and snapped?

Yup, definitely a result of Nex being a racist. Case closed @Pokoloco
Definitely a result of her pouring water on someone...

8 minutes ago, Dahobbs said:Ah yes, why discuss the most likely thing when we can endlessly speculate on things that have no basis in the facts as known. That sounds like a really reasonable way to approach this. Do you really think this is anything other than bullying? Have you actually read anything about it? Does the below sound like a dating quarrel?
But sure, maybe the victim is just a racist. The super respectful and serious person is going to throw out that random bit of speculation. No way that little bit of misdirection could ever be politically motivated, right?
Could be politically motivated, but doubtful. I know you desperately want this to be white cis gendered Christian females who felt it was their duty to beat up a "queer". But I guarantee there's a lot more nuance than that.

Likely either a hemorrhage from the fight that kicked in later, or suicide. My guess is the latter. Parents misgendered and deadnamed them in the obituary. Hateful despicable parents. This is the side of wedge issues that I find unconscionable. Create hate to win votes, what are a few dead children in the long run?
But one side has already jumped on this death for political use. Without knowing any facts.
What if it comes out she called the girls the "n" word?

This could've been a dating quarrel. Do you know the sexual orientation of the other girls involved?

More intentionally ineffective laws, yes. Well designed laws, no.
Go on..

Weird. Guns seem to be a common factor in both of them. It is almost like if we made laws that prevented dipshits and lunatics alike from getting access to guns we could end up at a solution to both categories of problems.
"more gun laws" is equally as useless as "thoughts and prayers"

(Still don't understand this but that's not going to change here.) If he has any hope of a decent retirement, he needs to let the debt go and save as much as he can.
I'm 55, as of today have $501,210.85 in my 401K, we got a home equity loan through the credit union at 7.99% to consolidate the CC debt. Monthly payments dropped by @ $2000/ mo. We still have 150K equity in the house. I think we'll be ok going forward, My son will be in prison for a bit, no need to spend money on lawyers or rehab for the foreseeable future.
Thanks again to everyone for the input.

The thing about Toby Keith, is he was a legitimately talented songwriter and performer. But he absolutely made a conscious decision to pander after 9/11, in many ways, not just the whole whatever that song was, and he will be remembered for that. This isn't to condemn him or anything, by all accounts he was a very good guy, but it's part of his legacy.
At the time, I don't think it was pandering. I don't know how old you were when 9/11 happened but there really was a feeling of helplessness, we were all together on that. A lot of performers/artists felt like they had to do something. I'll give him a pass on this, he followed it up with action- going on the USO tours, physically helping like Abe Froman mentioned. He spent his time and own money on wounded vets. By all accounts he was a good dude personally. He spent a lot of time around where I live, I've run into him a few times. I haven't heard anyone who ever met him say anything bad about him. Yeah, he was a huge Sooner fan, but he sang "Shoulda be a Cowboy" at Joes after a bedlam BBall loss. Solid.

A bunch of cool people got together at the Troubadour and paid tribute to a song thief. But we got this gem out of it. I read about the show but didn't think it would be recorded. Still, someone got a decent video of it. Isbell and Sadler also did a cover of Kodachrome.
Damn. fucking love Dwight. I need to see him again.

Oklahoma makes perfect sense as a destination for ex-porn stars. Sparsely populated so less likely to be seen/recognized. Extremely low cost of living. Legalized pot + easy access to meth. Plus you've got OKC & Tulsa with the Metroplex, KC, Little Rock & even Memphis a day's drive so they can make money stripping in bigger cities when they need funds. And who the fuck living in Herpe Sore, OK is going to shame you for your lifestyle?
Great place to create porn stars also.

Fun Fact, Dana Plato died in Moore also.

Why do these porn stars retire in Oklahoma? Easy access to meth? Who was the other J name pornstar around her time, they looked alike kinda?
Moore had 2 that I know of: Jessie Jane went to Moore high, Bibi Jones went to Westmoore. Southmoore needs to up their game.

No, I want the truth. Shouldn't we all want that? Was the death because of the fight? Do we know that for sure.
