  1. Slightly disagree on super deep with experience.  Started a freshman forward. Sixth man was a soph (a phenominal soph). Top nine players were five junior/seniors, three sophs and one freshman. No argument that the team was poorly coached.

    This years team will have seven of top eight players being a junior or senior.

    1st Team: Allen, Mitchell

    2nd Team: Jones

    3rd Team: Ramey

    Scholar/Athlete of the Year: Disu

  2. It seems funny to say, but Texas has never had this quality of players with so much experience.  Barnes teams always seemed to have a player(s) leave a year early while other programs like Kansas, UNC kept their players a year longer.

    Senior guards: Ramey, Jones, Febres.

    Sophomore guard: Askew

    Senior forwards: Allen, Bishop

    Junior forwards: Disu, Mitchell

    Junior and Senior scrapper: Cunningham, Benson

    Freshman wing: Tyson

  3. The episode where Neal finds out his dad is cheating by biking around (eventually alone) testing the garage door remote on houses in different neighborhoods.

    That shit hit home.  Or the scene where the kid at school tells everyone about how your dad took his mom, his brother and him to the movies on a fucking Tuesday night.  Oh wait, that was real life and not on the show.

  4. Headed to Belize at end of this month with my two adult kids.  They are scuba certified, but I'm not and prefer to snorkel.  Where are the good spots or connections for snorkeling?  We've done the day snorkel trips from Caye Caulker before where we swim with the lemon sharks and manta rays, but would like more reef action.

    Placencia sounds like a good option. Any tips on staying there and things to do?

    My son and I did the ATM Cave a couple of years ago, are there any other cave tours worth doing?

    Appreciate any responses.

    Mexico may not beat the US for 10 years outside of Azteca if the US fed hires a real coach.  It's all over for the Mexicans and they know it.

    Mexico is going to lustily recruit dual eligibles that develop in the US system.  And they have a successful professional and minor league system to plug them in to.  They will be competitive, but with Canada's developing quality players and potential of Jamaica with more English developed players Mexico will not dominate Concacaf in the future.

    US needs quality coaching equal or above Tata to dominate in the future.

  6. Gregg comments that Reyna was still good, but had to take him off for Aaronson.  Did it not occur to him to take off Llegett and put Reyna in midfield.  Gregg appears to have bought in to the story of Acosta making good on a second chance and that seems to be the reason to play him.  Fuck that.  If is better then use that someone.

    Two eysores from last night were Yueill and Llegett.  What are the metrics on Yueill's forward passing ?  If can't accomplish line-breaking passes then he needs to be off the field.  Llegett's touch was slow and that made his decision making delayed.  No need to comment on his free kicks as it was obviously bad.

    US looked way too cocky with ball at their feet.  Did they expect Honduras to just roll over? That attitude will be cured by facing Mexico.

    So if Adams can't play the 6 because he's frequently hurt. McKennie doesn't have the positional discipline to play the 6. Musah has never played the 6.  Yueill is a null and void player at the 6.  Acosta at the 6 is a fantasy perpetuated by Gregg.  Is it double pivot time?

    Dest tried harder at defense this game.  If Long and Richards weren't hurt, I'd go for a five in the back.  We'll get Richards back, but Ream and Miazga as backups scare me.

    Glad for the win, but the team looked like shit.

    Rome rocks. 9/10th through the first season so far, streaming one or two eps per night. Only disappointment is the cinematography, or lack of it.

    In the middle of season 1 of Rome.  Hoping it doesn't end with toxoplasmosis.

    What a cast of actors.

    My great aunt's father was Dutch Cota (Robert Mitchum) in the movie.  She was a generous and classy lady.  Her husband (my great uncle by blood) was an ass, but that shit is hereditary.  This movie is not too long for me and is fantastic.

    Allen is going to need the ball in his hands on offense in the half court.   He’s not a spot up on the perimeter and wait for a PG to distribute kind of player.  Neither is Jones, really, for that matter.  I don’t know that a PG pounding the air out of the ball fits real well with that group, especially since Allen isn’t a big three point shooting threat if we’re having him space the floor while a PG tries to create.

    Fully agree here.  Allen is going to be a Culver type and I'll take the Swede as a better fit as he reminds of Moretti.  I hope that Larrson's late decision to join the portal is due to talking to Allen.

  12. The Letter - Directed by William Wyler. Husband and wife are Herbert Marshall and Bette Davis set in Malaysia/Singapore.  Wife cheats, wife lies, wife dies. The attorney stands out in this, but all the main actors do as well as the moon.  Something seemed familiar when watching this.

    Yes. Wyler directed Little Foxes with Marshall and Davis playing the husband and wife.  Amazing film, well acted and a lovely story by Mrs. Dashiell Hammett.

    Back to back years, 1940-1941.

    I've been looking at our potential roster and trying to figure out what the minutes might look like.  In Tech's Elite 8 run, they didn't have anyone over 6'5 that got more than 15 mpg. The following year when they made the title game, 6'10 Tariq Owens got 25 mpg and Odiase got 17 mpg. Everybody else getting significant minutes was 6'5 or less.  Beard doesn't seem to mind running lineups with interchangeable 6'3-6'7 parts.  Luckily that seems to be how our roster is shaping up.

    In looking at the potential minutes situation, we could have something like this:

    Guards

    • DeVante Jones, 6'1 / Sahvir Wheeler, 5'10:  PG 24 min
    • Devin Askew, 6'3:  PG 18 min, SG 6  - 24 mpg total
    • Courtney Ramey, 6'3:  SG 22 min, PG 6 min - 28 mpg total
    • Andrew Jones, 6'4: SG 18 min, SF 10 min - 28 mpg total
    • Jase Febres, 6'5:  SG 8 min, SF 8 min, PF 6 min - 22 mpg total

    Forwards

    • Timmy Allen, 6'6:  SF 14 min, PF 16 min - 30 mpg total
    • Christian Bishop, 6'7:  SF 6, PF 10, C 10 mpg - 24 mpg total
    • Jaylon Tyson, 6'6:  SF 8
    • Brock Cunningham, 6'5:  PF 16

    Bigs

    • Dylan Disu, 6'9:  C 28 min
    • TBD:  C  10 min

    Total:  ~240 min (which is what we have averaged the last few years accounting for injuries and overtimes)

    Keep in mind that everyone on our team outside of Tyson and Cunningham has averaged 31-35 mpg at times in their career. There won't be that many minutes to go around, especially if we add another guard and big man.  It will be interesting to see how it plays out.

    Based on your  numbers.

    PG = 48 min

    SG = 54 min

    SF = 44 min

    PF = 48 min

    C = 48 min

    College game is 40 min.
