Saban started talking like a truly old coach this past season in my opinion. I know they had a lot of injuries and went through a lot, but he just seemed especially exhausted.

If you were losing sleep over Cuckbo and the sleeping giant Aggies, you would be exhausted too.

  2. With the prior hints that have been dropped, my guess is for the Purdue guy.  Reggie Johnson.  They mentioned someone who previously coached in the region but that they were trying to find out whether the coach was successful on the recruiting trail during their time in the region.

With Hagen, he was apparently twice named by Rivals as recruiter of the year according to his Aggy bio.  It would be hard for any of the $9.95ers to not know whether he was a good or bad recruiter at ATM, given the reputation he came in with.

The Purdue guy, Reggie Johnson, coached at UTEP in 2001 and 2002.  It would make sense that they would have to ask around about whether he had any luck in the region or not.

    It's gonna be multiple.

Alabama can only send out 3 NLIs for tomorrow.  They already have 4 commits and a transfer (who doesn't sign but would prevent one of the 25 signees from enrolling).

One of them (Jayson Jones) already silently committed to Oregon, so that's where Jackson's spot is coming from.

Heads up on A&M DT coach Elijah Robinson and PSU interest

    Tarp

I posted some of this on another thread so I thought that I would just start one to get everyone focused.

While Robinson is a PSU guy, he does not have any ties to James Franklin or the current staff. Robinson left PSU before Franklin got there. In addition, virtually all of the staff (coaching, support, or otherwise) that was at PSU is also gone. They may have crossed paths recruiting vs one another but that's about it.

Coaches like to hire or work for other coaches that they've worked with in the past. That applied with former A&M assistants Jay Graham (worked with Tennessee's Jeremy Pruitt at FSU) and Joe Jon Finley (worked with Ole Miss OC Jeff Lebby at Baylor).

That does not apply in this case.

In addition, former PSU DT coach Sean Spencer had three titles....position coach, associate head coach, run game coordinator. In football, titles are a way to funnel more money to a coach because no one has unlimited funds for salaries. In Spencer's case, the additional titles came with additional money. Remember that when Tennessee made a run at Graham last year he got the co-coordinator title at A&M which provided him with a raise. When Tennessee made another run at him this year, they had the ability to potentially throw the special teams' coach tag and funds which allowed them to pay him more.

If A&M is going to keep Robinson, then I would look for them to give another title because in all likelihood Penn State will have to do the same thing to get him more money and lure him away.

At this point, I've been told that A&M is confident that they will be able to keep him.

Someone should ask Tarp what prior experience Robinson had with the A&M staff before they money whipped him away from Baylor (and Rhule, who he worked under for many years).

man i'm ready to read Looch spin for this one..

Robinson threw his name in the hat, to try to get A&M to give him a raise, but once word got out that Robinson was a candidate to the PSU job, every DL coach in college and the NFL reached out to Cuckbo to show their interest in joining the greatest program in the history of the sport.  /Looch

If the guy is the DL coach at Wake Forest or Indiana or some shit what is even the point of keeping it so secret ? If the school is going to be unwilling or unable to match comp it’s strange for this to need to be kept such a secret. Not that it even matters.

Could it be someone currently in the NFL who formerly coached in the region?

Hutzler is just following Mourning on Twitter. Nothing super substantive.

Thanks.  All I remembered was someone posting a picture of Zo and then I saw that 247 had him pretty highly rated among the prospects in state.

  8. Oregon just got a  silent from current Bama DT commit Jayson Jones, so it looks like McKinnley Jackson to Bama is a go.  When that happens, I'm sure we'll hear all about how Saban sent Jones out west to his buddy Cristobal to make room for Jackson because he is scared of Cuckbo dominating the SEC.

The thing that I don’t get is why these coaches are getting hired away. Linguist and Graham both sucked.

I guess the TEs coach was ok. He seems well regarded, but he definitely wasn’t a great recruiter.

Who was the offensive assistant/OC that Rhule brought from Oregon when Baylor hired Rhule?

Matt Lubick, who then left to go join Peterson at Washington, spent the past year out of football, and just got hired by Scott Frost t Nebraska as their new OC.

You’d think he’d be worried about that right now, but nope.

He’s more worried about ... guess who

Translation: "Come to A&M and be an Aggy.  We'll never be more successful than Texas, but we'll get prison raped by Bama and LSU every year, and Georgia too when we get forced to play them.  SEC! SEC! SEC!"
