  1. The Black Crowes manager Mark DiDia first leaked news of the reunion on The Howard Stern Show, forcing an early announcement. Nikki Sixx said at a press conference yesterday, “We would have announced it here, the way it should have been. It was announced by The Black Crowes manager, which I heard their tour was just cancelled and he got fired, unfortunately, but that doesn’t affect our stadium tour.”

The Black Crowes mocking Robert Plant was recently revealed. Total13 responded on the MetalSludge.TV forums, appearing to shoot down Sixx’s claim, “Tour is still on….Mark is somewhat of an old school rock legend in the radio promo label world and now managing(which a lot of those type of guys are doing now). The Black Crowes and this Stadium Tour are both Live Nation tours so if there was any pressure to get rid of Mark it would of come from Live Nation from him leaking the stadium tour…personally I think Nikki is talking out of his ass. There is too much money on the table with both tours.”

Quite possibly at $1/2. Much of the GTO components aren’t applicable at that level. Ie, there’s little need to balance ranges when few are capable of recognizing (much less capitalizing on) your tendencies.

Agree with this.  I'm not really into the whole GTO thing.  That seems really applicable for all the high roller tourney players who play against each other all the time and totally non applicable for your random $1/3 game.

Use your poker common sense, your table image and your stack to your advantage.  You are likely missing out on bigger session wins by playing short stacked.  You may be more comfortable playing short stacked but as you move up levels you will get targeted and put to the test more often by better players for playing like that imo.

What are your favorite rooms in Houston?

I live on the West side so I pretty much stay out there.  My favorite one closed this past Summer so now have to play at Freerolls but don't enjoy it at all.  New one just opened on Westgreen so hopefully they run a better room.  Really liked and did well at Post Oak before they closed and the West side clubs opened.  I'll go to Prime or Lions if thats my only option but prefer others.  I'm moving down to Galveston early next year so I'll probably be hitting Mint in Clear Lake the most often then.

  4. Does your 5-10 transactions include cash transactions?  Like 2 or 3 monthly deposits and less than 10 checks/ach payments?

If so, then yes the GL work would not take more than 4 or 5 hours, the 1099's should take less than an hour and the tax returns maybe a couple of hours.

I'm not sure what the going hourly rate is these days as I am in industry but it sounds like you have a pretty easy job as long as you have everything recorded like you say you do.

  5. Well it doesn't sound like you have much to do other than build the bankroll up.  It sounds like you are winning at least 60% of the time?  I don't think you can expect anything greater than 70% win rate (others might disagree but I've never been able to top it) so I would just continue to play 1-3 until you get your roll up to $5k or so and move up to 2-5.  You will notice a little different level of play in 2-5 so adjust your expectations for the first few sessions.

Agreed.  Even at a 1-3 you should be buying in for at least $300.  If your bankroll allows I would also match the big stack if allowable and possible.  If you have the discipline I always want the max behind me when the nuts come along.  In these crazy card house games someone is almost always willing to call you off.

I will always match the big stack (or reasonably close) and have at least two more buy ins in pocket just in case.

Igloo didn’t keep up with Americans being 25% heavier over the years. They rested on their 1970 laurels when a fat guy was 190.

This is certainly true. They created the segment and I agree it was needed.

I remember growing up we had igloo coolers. On one of our sailboats, the cooler was used as a step to get down below as well as its intended purpose of cooling beer. We had igloo's for years and aside from replacing the latches every couple of years, they lasted very well. Fast forward to the late 90's and their quality had declined measurably. We ended up having to replace coolers frequently because the lid would crack from 200 lb people stepping up and down on top of them. If you stuck with the marine line, they were slightly better.  But the ice retention and durability left a lot to be desired.

I am glad yeti came along and I get the early adopters, but all these years later it is absurd to me to pay the premium. I completely get it though.

Also due to the family selling out to PE.  PE comes in and the first thing they do is cut costs and quality goes down.

Can someone translate this for me? Is the entry the actual money you pay and the "buy-in" is starting chips? or the other way around?

The actual money you pay is both the buy in and the entry.  The buy in goes to the prize pool and the entry goes to the Casino.  Typical starting chip amounts in these kind of events is anywhere from 10,000 to 30,000.

click on the blue link for each event and it will show you the starting amount of chips and the blind structure.

I'm still baffled how Minute Maid Park doesn't have hot dog vendors walking up and down the seated sections and it seems like the majority of the beer vendors at the seats are cash only. How can you buy a Chik Fil A sandwich at your seats but not a damn hot dog.

And how can the Club's flagship radio station not have a strong enough signal to reach Katy at any point after the sun goes down.  If I ever ran into Reid at the games that was going to be the first question out of my mouth to him.  There may have been a good answer but I sure can't think of it if there is.
