  1. Late post but finally got back to the Nugget in LC last week (before the storm).  Only three tables in play open and 5 players per table so the wait list was pretty long to get on.  No dividers but masks required.  It was worth the wait for me however.  Stuck two buyins in the first two hours with pretty dead cards but made sure to show a few bluffs hoping that would pay off for me later.

    it did!

Ran extremely hot for the next 4 hours and everyone figured there was no way I could have it AGAIN.  They were wrong.

The shut the room down at 1:15am.  I think I heard them say they were required to shut down by 2:00am so the cut it off early to clean and do the counts before 2:00.

I guess now with Laura they might be closed down again for sometime.

  2. Texas Brown Tarantulas are harmless.  Found one and kept it as a pet all through college.  It was a great party trick to take it out and let it crawl up your arm.  People get so freaked out thinking its going to bite you and put you in some sort of death coma.

Read up on them back then and found out you almost always only see the males if you see one in the wild.  They are out looking for some poonanny.  The females stay in their dens and mostly only come out to feed at night.

My understanding is that in order to legally collect snakes, you need a license. Some snakes are protected, like the Indigo (which homesick mentioned). Those I don’t think you are even supposed to pick up.

Owning a kingsnake, and most other snakes, is perfectly legal in Texas.

Today I went to Galveston hoping for a rattlesnake or Speckled Kingsnake. No such luck. I did catch two Coachwhips which is always cool. The second one was 4.5’ at least and great coloring. But he was still in shed and I didn’t feel like dressing him out for shots I wouldn’t be happy with.

Would love to follow along with you next time you're hunting down in Galveston.  Do you mind if amateurs tag along with you?
