  1. I stay there just because its free and take a cab to the side entrance of Bellagio for about $7 when I go to the Strip to play.  The rooms are certainly not "nice" compared to the popular properties but adequate for sleep and a shower which is all I use them for.  They are on par with the lower properties on the Strip - Flamingo, Harrah's, Bally's etc.  If you're gonna be by yourself it's fine.  If your wife or gf is gonna be with you I would spend for the Strip somewhere.

  2. Prime consistently has the most tables and action and most centrist location.  Mint in Clear Lake has good action especially on weekends (6-8 tables).  I've been playing at the Poker Club at West Side (I-10 west of Mason) due primarily to convenience.  Always one table of 1-3 that plays more like a 6-6-6 after dark due to straddles.  Usually two full tables on weekends.  They offer daily tournaments but hardly ever get more than one table - not a huge focus on them and almost no crossover play to cash after the tournaments.  The new Freerolls in Katy has been flopping so far.  Beautiful room but has been a clown show since opening.  Hopefully they can get it together.

One of the guys I used to regularly play just shipped 100K in Oklahoma in a $400 buy in tourny.  FML

I've played with him a few times this past year.  Good guy so I'm glad for him.  That's a very nice score.

Quick question, do you generally buy in for as much as you can or hold some in reserve.  So, for a 1/3 game, would you buy in for 200 and leave 300 in your wallet, presuming you bring 500 to the table.  Or is it, whatever I'm willing to lose is on the table.

You'll find varying opinions on this one but I would answer you with a "both".  I prefer to go into a room/game with at least 3/4 buyins in pocket and always match the high stack at the table up to $800 or so in a 1/3 game (unless its a brand new table).

If the table is established and $800/$1000 is the high stack I will match and then keep another two/three standard buyins ($300/$400) in pocket.  I am always willing to play every dollar I bring to a game so I don't have any concerns about going back into the pocket to add on if the high stacks at the table continue to get bigger.  Some people prefer to keep smaller stacks on the table with backup in pocket.  I don't subscribe to that theory,  I want the most chips in play as possible when the nuts come around, especially in some of these crazier Texas card rooms these days.  I feel like Vegas poker is a lot more standard and have way less maniacs so I don't mind a smaller stack strategy there.

Three bulls went 33", 36" and 38".  The smaller two he caught drifting in the kayak past the 3rd bar with fresh whole whiting and the last one was caught on the shark rod from the beach with a 10" whole whiting.   It was a fun day.  Out there for over 4 hours and I probably spent no more than 20 minutes in a chair, wore my ass out.

When I see stuff like this, it just makes me think that WVU is gonna kick the shit out of us.  I hope Kliff can keep the players focused.

Agreed.  I was pleasantly surprised with the OSU game but there is no way I'm buying 10-2.  They'll have to prove it to me one game at a time.

  7. Yes, I've been there multiple times since it is so close to me.

Pros:   Very new, nice and clean room that is very well lit with plenty of space and tv's.

                All new tables and chairs

                Service is good (byob)

Same pay structure as the other clubs - $15/day - $15/hr

                Very soft players

Location for westsiders who don't want to drive to Galleria area

Cons:  NOT ENOUGH PLAYERS - biggest gripe right now is that there is just not enough of a player base.  Rarely can fill one table without operators/off-clock employees playing

No food - have to order from Little Woodrow's or Landry's next door.

Security seems to be pretty lax.  One security guard stationed in the parking lot has been all I have ever seen.

Bottom of the barrel dealers.  Not doing a horrible job but they are def having a tough time keeping any good/great dealers on staff due to lack of play.

Overall, I think most will enjoy playing there as the player base continues to grow.  At this point if time isn't an issue I would rather go down to POPC or Prime since I know there will be plenty of action at multiple tables.  If I don't have a lot of time, I'll take what I can get and play there.  I would call them first before going and ask them A) if a game is currently on and if yes, B) how many players because they routinely start games with only 2 or 3 members and fill the rest of the table with 3 or 4 operators/employees.  Not that they are trying to be nefarious, they are just trying to get/keep the game going.
