  1. FTR, I served on a  grand jury in which the first 12 people seated in the auditorium were chosen.

I learned a lot.  I did not necessarily enjoy it.
I have never been chosen for a traditional jury.  I am direct and very honest with the answers to their questions.  There is zero fucking chance I will ever serve on a regular jury.

He's showing up.  The truth disqualifies him.  Why waste everyone's time?

    That's what lawyers do...

Get a dose of what the rest of us get.  I am equally disqulifiable(?)  yet, there I go...

  3. Truckstops in the 80's.  Among other niceties, to which I was not granted access, were pins and arcade games typically available.  Our dad drove a truck and would rack up credits on Six Million Dollar Man or Eight Ball Deluxe, "Stop talking and start chalking!" when you took too long to plunge the ball.  My older borther and I loved mop up duty playying out the credits.  $6MMan is the first game I ever fell in love with 1- because of the theme and 2- becaus eit was the first game that I played with the post between the flippers to keep you from losing it.

Aladdin's Castle. Sikes Senter Mall. Wichita Falls, TX  was the classic 80's arcade across from the 6-plex theater in the mall.  Everything from Xaxxon to 10 Yard Fight to Crossbow to Dragon's Lair. Pinballs during that era were Gold Wing, Cyclone, "Hey you with the face!" and F-14 Tomcat, among many, many others.

In the late 80's/ early 90's, Family Fun Place, South Plains Mall. Lubbock, TX.   Black Knight2000.  First game I could beat with regularity, in that I would show up with a $1 and leave with $.50 after playing for 2 hours.  LOVED that game.
Putt-Putt, Lubbock, would get coupons out of the phone book( that in and of itself dates this one,) 40 tokens for 5 bucks.  John Elway's Quarterback for days.  Loved that it had continuous stats/ rankings.  Pinball machine was Space Shuttle.  Would beat the living hell out of the center ramp and one of the first games I learned with multi-ball.

I enjoy many of the assorted modern places and really like the ones where they have 20-30 pins and a set entrance fee for the day.  When I am on the road for work( which is a lot,) after restaurants, I am looking at places to play pinball.  I have benefitted from the resurgence of popularity of pins and arcade games.

Not a fan of the card readers, redeemable games, and the fru-fru bullshit these days; but if it drives more revenue to get the good games in there, then cool.

  4. Marriott electronic key still randomly works without having to check in first. It is VERY inconsistent.

When it works, about 25% of the time, I never go to the desk.  It is a great feature also when the key comes across mid-morning and you know your room is available.

Another drawback is not being able to use electronic key to access the lounge( breakfast.

In today's world, this shit seems so correctable.

J2 is a decent sequel far less gory than original but has a few good tense scenes and another solid JW score.

The bigger boat line is catchy, indeed, however the thing about the Jaws that gets everyone is two freaking notes of music.
You hear the duuuuh-nuuunt!!!  and you know immediately impending doom is present.

Johnny is an embarrassment as a human being and I’m glad he’s not ours and I get that he was surrounded by a very talented team but the dude could play and was fun to watch.  I have zero ill will towards him and hope he gets his shit together and doesn’t die young.

No shame in being a fan of Dat Nguyen.  Great college player.

those guys are polar opposites on the character scale.  Respected Nguyen, even before he became a Cowboy.

Manziel was obviously a clown in college, and spectacular flame-out as a pro.  That being said, I still appreciate how his moxy/ greed changed the business of college sports and forced their hand to recognize the players.

I knew Avis and Budget were the same, but not Enterprise and their sisters.  It's interesting because their service is superior to all the other brands.  My company uses Enterprise exclusively because of our experience with them.

Enterprise also tends to work best with schools and their non-taxable status.  I don't need that for my job, but wife works with it on a weekly basis, scheduling school travel and events.( think conferences and such, not necessarily basketball tournaments.)

I don’t share your sense of humor here. Taught my kids to call 911 and report a fire if they were ever in trouble and needed the authorities. Never heard of a firefighter shooting someone who was mentally ill, or a minority. Or a dog.

It was definitely gallows humor.  It's an  interesting dynamic when surly says we shouldn't be surly.

I don't have a problem with those who put their lives on the line in service of others.  Firefighters definitely fit that bill.  I view the shooter as an absolute coward, among other things.
