  1. Had friends from out of town who wanted Torchy's and I hadn't even looked at their menu in a minute.

The October Taco of the month: The Ronin is a Japanese-inspired taco special, featuring flame-grilled teriyaki steak, chipotle slaw, grilled onions, cotija cheese, chopped peanuts, sriracha, avocado sauce, and mint, all on a flour tortilla.  I got mine on corn, just preference.

I thought it was great and unexpectedly tasted more like Korean BBQ, but it was a great mix.  I didn't taste the mint, nor did I see that until just now.  I would get this one again. I laugh when people ask for Torchy's; because they instantly make "overpriced white boy hipster tacos" come to mind; but if you're gonna do it, might as well get something you like.

PNG took a big ol shit on the Nederland Bulldogs,

49-17 to win the 100th version of MidCounty Madness (Bum Phillips Bowl)

    Scalp Em, Indians!

Saw a blurb online about this being a great rivalry, possibly the best in TExas, which I disagree.  How the fuck can it be so great when Nederland is never worth a shit?

are they able to get a rematch in the playoffs? i don't follow the enrollment figures

Current standings are a bit jumbled on MaxPro.  Looks like to me, if Rock Hill makes PO's along with Princeton, then yeah, Allen & Prosper could meet again in Region Finals.  If Plano High or Plano West get in, it's gonna make Prosper be D-II.
    Allen( 6947)   5-0
    Prosper( 3450) 5-0
    Princeton( 2379) 3-2
    Plano( 4493) 4-3
    Rock Hill (2373) 3-3
    Plano West (5337) 3-3
    McKinney( 2807) 2-4
    Plano East( 5346) 1-5
    McKinney Boyd( 2553) 0-6

I think some grads here would like millions of dollars to go towards funding non-football shit.

I understand that for Tech fans it doesn't matter.

The assumption is always that the money would still go to academic pursuits. We know that ain't true.

    and fuck off Alpo boy.

  6. I don't get tracked, at least there have never been conversations related to it. I work on the road at various locations throughout the year.  If I ain't on the road, I work from home.

If we ain't where we are supposed to be, shit gets fucked up, so there's that piece of not wondering if you are essential, as well. I never have to worry about that stuff because there's gonna be a lot slower runners before that bear gets to me.  I've also had fuckers try to manage me from the office before, until I tell them where to look on their tracking reports for supporting evidence/ counter-points- then they quietly hang up.

Before I started this gig, I drove about 40k miles per year and got reimbursed by DOT rate. For the final 3 years or so, they gave us a motus ap that tracked our ipad.  All I had to do was take it with me wherever I went for work.  When it came to the end of the month, I entered my closing odometer 1 time, and it created a one pager for 4 weeks of mileage to electronically attach to our expense report.  Some of the guys balked at it and continued to spend all kinds of time filling out the old forms.  I was like, "You motherfuckers are so scared of that shit, but it is one of the single best time-savers they ever gave us."

I've also used GPS tracking on our company assets to defend employees against accusation of wrongdoing.  People get real fucking quiet when you show them your driver was 25 miles from where they accused...

Last 2 paragraphs are just saying not all tracking is bad.  It can be leveraged for positive outcomes as well.  That depends upon the users, which does tie into Buzzrock's final sentence.  I'd just posit that the tools aren't inherently bad.  Shitty people absolutely can be.

Springer's advocacy for kids who stutter illuminated on biggest stage

TORONTO -- George Springer is many things, a list that just grew again with his Game 7 heroics in the ALCS.

He’s a World Series champion, a World Series MVP, a four-time All-Star and now the author of one of the greatest moments in Blue Jays history, his three-run home run in the seventh inning Monday to beat the Mariners and send the Blue Jays to their first World Series since 1993.

Field View: George Springer's go-ahead home run

Springer is also an advocate for kids who stutter. Springer stutters, himself, and has since he was a child, but as he’s grown into a big league star, he’s used his platform to encourage kids who stutter and empower them to say what they want to say. October 22 is International Stuttering Awareness Day, another opportunity to shine a light on the work Springer has done in his work with organizations like SAY (Stuttering Association for the Young).

“If you ask any of my teammates and coaches, it’s no secret. ... I like to talk,” Springer said at an event last season benefitting SAY. “I will talk your ear off all day, even if you don’t want me to. It didn’t used to be that way. For all of the kids or the parents who have a child who stutters, or has come across somebody who does, I hope that I can be proof that things do get easier. You can do what you want to do. You can say what you want to say. You can be who you want to be.”

The CN Tower, which climbs 1,815.5 feet into the air next to Rogers Centre and is visible across Toronto, will be lit green Wednesday night to recognize International Stuttering Awareness Day.

An estimated 1% of the world’s population stutters, which would account for over three million Americans and 400,000 Canadians. According to the National Stuttering Association, up to 5% of kids go through a period of stuttering, too, which often begins in the range of 2 to 5 years old. While many kids who stutter in their childhood ultimately stop stuttering, many others, Springer included, deal with it into adulthood.

Hosting his annual benefits, Springer has always turned the conversation back to the kids he works with, saying how much they’ve helped him in return. Besides, Springer is just a 36-year-old kid himself.

    Mateo and George

    Mateo and George

He’s the biggest personality on the Blue Jays. Sure, things tighten up in the postseason and grow more serious as October rolls on, but Springer is always the life of the party, filling every room he enters with sound and energy.

“You can’t let something that you can’t control stop you from being who you want to be,” Springer said. “There are a lot of really good people in this world who will help and a lot of really good people who don’t care [about your stutter]. One of the most important things I hope everybody understands is that you just need to embrace it. Embrace who you are. Embrace how you talk."

Springer has been an important public figure for people who live with a stutter, especially kids. They can look up to an MLB star who has not just spoken openly about his stutter over the years, but embraced it as part of who he is. Now, he’s on the biggest stage in baseball, chasing the Blue Jays’ first World Series championship in 32 years.

    Which one?

Also based of my very unscientific observations of my friend group's resident Tech Alumni this tortilla toss business isn't getting forgotten anytime soon. Dude is 100% on tilt wanting to burn college football to the ground over the tortilla toss ban. Been trying to make quasi legal arguments of why Oklahoma States paddle people should be banned too since the paddles "enter the playing envelope", and of course this whole thing is really UT's fault for throwing trash on the field during the Georgia game last year...

I love Tech football and other sports.

I used to think the tortilla tossing was a cool tradition, but it has gotten entirely out of hand.  Fans were given ample opportunity to police themselves AND maintain the tradition.  They failed. Miserably.

So fuck it.  If people throw shit, usher them to the exits.  Bottom line.
