We have the right to protest. We also have the right to send our transcripts elsewhere.

Anyone remember the UT protests against Powell? Fortune 500 taking over Campus?

There were some ruffled feathers about this same thing under Cunningham when they allowed food chains to open in the Union.  Up til then it was all UT owned outlets.

For Christ’s sake, @Willfully Horn, read the letter. There was no threat, veiled or otherwise. The letter laid out basic “demands” of a protest movement and suggested “further dialogue.”

You’re too smart to fall for the paranoid fantasies of the DT pants-wetter brigade.

The act of someone showing up at a stranger's house in the middle of the night wearing a mask is a threat.

Not sure why we all can't even agree on that basic fact.

What is she even talking about?  Everyone knows what crime he's accused of committing.

Is she just saying that he's committed so many crimes that he's not sure which one this is?

I said Taylor Dayne was gonna be bigger than Madonna

This reminds me of sitting in friend's brand new '85 Monte Carlo SS saying there's no way REM becomes bigger than The Smiths... granted I didn't know The Smiths would break up 2 years later, but still wrong.

No one said it was good.  Just saying It’s not to be looked at as a black and white issue, it’s more complex.  The fact is many Iraqi’s think the country is better off now than when Saddam was in power.

This may be true, but your originally stated sources were Iraqi ex-pats living in the US.  Of course it's better for them.

Looks exactly like what I said, pic is from the poll you posted. They feel safer by far but have bad memories of war, duh.  Life overall is better now though.

I don't think people being more afraid to walk outside at night during the middle of a war (when most of the fighting happened) is really what you were talking about.

I'm looking for the 2003 poll numbers you cited.

Plus, since the increase in safety happened around 2011, when the US left, you could make the argument that they were afraid of the US troops.

Episode 7 I believe. I thought Sugar was just hallucinating at the end of Ep. 6. In 7, I thought they were just talking in code at first but then when I realized they were not talking in code I was like…”this show can’t seriously be going in this direction, can it?”

If you read the posts on the 1st page, there was definitely a thought that this was coming.  Some of the Surly sleuths noted that the showrunners had Sci-Fi backgrounds, and there were lots of hints along the way.

    Spoiler

I thought they were angels, because of the comment made at the first party when Ruby mentioned someone learning to make Angel Food cake, and they all laughed.

A turn-row is a strip of land / dirt road at the edge of a field where the tractor turns around. It is off the main road and sometimes has trees around it.  Since it is away from any road (and at night), the odds of anyone driving on it are basically zero.

Something tells me that's not "an example", but rather THE example.

This President has shown he can do a hell of a lot to lower gas. Last President absolutely showed his words move markets. Miss me with that.

We are popping champagne. You’re saying vague, elementary shit like watch out something bad can happen and calling that a historical fact.

You were warned, but now I have to ban you from this thread.

Listen dude, ban away, but I'm done here anyway. You're insufferable and seemingly unable to handle facts. And yes, they are historical facts, but if you want to try to disprove them, knock yourself out.

Trump did a lot of things that normal Presidents don't do, but he didn't move markets through policy.  He did it by sending out morning tweets from the shitter.  If you want to take that as some sort of precentent moving forward go ahead, but I'm hoping we don't go back to that.

As for gas prices...what policy did Trump enact that lowered gas prices?

I've long believed that the stock market isn't always a good indicator of "the economy" as applied to everyday people. And yet when a democrat says that during a republican administration they're called snowflakes, whiners, etc.

So in the context of this thread the surging stock market means good economy because that's the standard the other side uses. Republican's don't use nuance, so fuck off with that shit here. Got to the stock bros thread.

So, since Republicans don't use nuance that means we can't either?  Some of your brains are getting warped.  It's sad, but I suppose understandable.  But the day we all lose the ability to look at things objectively is the day the country is officially dead.

I honestly didn't intend to start a shit storm.

I don't mind the chart, although I'm always skeptical of channels, troughs, etc.  But it really isn't very germane to this thread.  Then again, threads go off topic all the time, so surly?

It's investment psychology, nothing more, nothing less.

Bots are programmed by humans, and humans get nervous when things get too far from the mean.

You think “bad things happen after good things happen” is some kind of factual analysis? Gtfo.  Fatty and whatever reincarnation of GRU at least post half ass attempts at moving the topic

I can't help you understand if you're just going to neg everything I say that you don't agree with.

Like the price of gas, the President has very little influence on the stock market.  I'm just point out that before we pop the champagne on Biden's second term, we should recognize that we have 5-months before the election and lots of shit can change.

The point is that while you give credit to Biden for the stock market, if it falls, the other side will blame him...when the truth is neither of those positions is necessarily true.

72% of Iraqi’s main concern was safety in 2003, now it’s 20%.   Relationships between tribes and religious sects was viewed as over 70% negative then now is at 30%.  We can debate reasons all day but a lot of Iraqi’s like their life post Saddam vs pre.

Also, can you share these polls?  I found this one, but it doesn't seem to match.

True, like I said you can debate that all day but overall they are happier.  Also 72% of Americans were for the invasion before it started with risk of servicemen’s lives included in the poll.  It’s easy to look back and play Monday morning qb.  Your’e very correct in that we didn’t gain much.

It's not Monday morning QB...I was against the Iraq invasion and against the Afghan invasion.

Also, how much of that polling was due to people being lied to about Iraq's nuclear capabilities?
