  1. um, well…i, uh, yeah, if that’s what…you know, um, ends up, like, um happening, then…you know, well, um, that’s a bummer. um.

No shit. I was watching last night and I barked at the tv “just fucking spit it out already” as she was trying to explain her two job opportunities as a sleepover.

  2. Garth “He never hit the brakes when he wuz shifting gears”

I’ve always hated that line.  Makes no sense.

That’s what I thought forever. He didn’t hit the brakes and he was shifting gears.

So he was speeding up when he hit.

  3. My question for Catholics and Lent, since we Baptists know nothing about it.  My boss is Greek Orthodox and asked him same question, one that he hadn’t questioned in 65 years.  Why can’t you just eat a slab of meat or a chicken fried steak and just go to confession and get your sin forgiven by the priest?

You’re not going to hell for eating meat. It’s about sacrificing and penance.
  4. It could be that they think that an impact hard enough to break a sapphire crystal means the movement needs to be inspected and serviced.  That's not an outrageous take. But if you disagree, find someone to just do the crystal.

My main problem with the estimate is there was no explanation of what it why it needed anything. Just an “Accept” or “Decline” option. They sent the watch back and a document inside noted their analysis and what they thought needed to be done to the watch. They said the crown and pushers were dented (if they are it’s not very noticeable). I’m mostly frustrated but the poor communication and/explanation. Oh, and I had to call twice to get them to remind them to send the estimate after they told me it was available.

  5. My El Primero slipped from my hand when I was putting it on and I cracked the crystal. Zenith wants $1,600 to replace the crystal (they say it needs a full service in addition to the $600 charge for the crystal). I call bullshit.

  6. Fried wings 4 ways
    chuck roast burnt ends
    chips and queso
    jalapeño popper dip
    grilled hotdogs and brats
    los tios frozen margs
    veg tray with ranch

That menu is almost tempting enough to make me drive all the way out there.

  7. Has anyone heard of the Francois Audouze wine dinners?  He hosts a number of dinners throughout the year (12 in 2024) and opens up his 40,000 bottle cellar.  They are usually in Paris and are not cheap (~$2,300 - $6,800), but would be a bucket list experience for me.  Here is a sample of some of the wines he's served.

Some of the wines in recent and upcoming dinners:
