  1. Gin & Juice is the best version by far.
I literally just did Junior’s Crested Butte trip the same time he did.  I’ve been a lot of places in Colorado and feel the exact same way he did. I love it. Prettier than any place up further north (Vail/BC) that I usually go to. Would love to take that hike from CB to Aspen.

Rode halfway from there to Aspen on a mountain bike via Pearl Pass. Was pretty much toast from doing 401/403 loop the day before.

  2. I think the better comparison is the authoritarian dictatorships in Latin America in the 70's and 80's (Pinochet in Chile, the Argentinian Dirty War, Guatemala etc) in which the military and political leadership waged war on intellectual elites, academics, and "leftist subversives." Anyone who opposed them was deemed an enemy of the state, and elections were either stolen outright or canceled due to some national emergency. Trump's rhetoric is frighteningly similar to those same dictators the US gov't helped propped up in its war against leftist movements in Latin America.

  3. Because of Dodge?

Fuck Dodge. Pick a Dakota, North or South and go with it? No, try to appeal to all the Dakotas you snowflake pussies. Glad they are discontinued.

  4. Good thread to read.  Getting back into this after a few years of neglecting the vinyl I had.  New Rega Planar 1 came in today (fit my budget better than others).  Can't wait to hook it up later and start enjoying things.  Spent some time cleaning records with the spin-disc on Saturday, while adding to Discogs at the same time (using the VinylBox app).

This thread has taught me about Mofi, but maybe with my beginner level bookshelf setup I can get away with CheapFi....

Anyway, thanks to all who made this one fun (and educational) to read.

Found one of the original Planer 3 at an estate sale last year. 75 bucks. Still a nice unit.

  6. One thing I’ve been impressed with, whether they are black or white, is how much smarter the youngs are than we are, especially compared to the olds. Gundy is generation X after all, so we do have our fair share of complete dipshits. His players know he’s full of shit and I don’t think this ends well for him.

Olds are smart enough to know the easiest way to change things is to vote.

  7. I'm picturing VOA spreading other countries propaganda on their behalf.

Initially set up to be bi-partisan but looks like they got rid of that pesky shit in 2017.
    (Wiki)
    Organization[edit]
USAGM is led by a single Chief Executive Officer appointed by the President of the United States and confirmed by the U.S. Senate. Until 2016, it was headed by a bi-partisan board with nine members; eight were appointed by the President with Senate confirmation, and the ninth member ex officio was the Secretary of State. By law, no more than four members could be from the same political party.[23] The president designated one member (other than the Secretary of State) to serve as Chairman. The Board served as a "firewall" against political interference in the journalistic product.[24] Upon the passage of the National Defense Authorization Act for Fiscal Year 2017, the agency was placed under the direction of a single CEO, and the board, officially renamed the International Broadcasting Advisory Board, was reduced to five members appointed by the President to serve in a merely advisory role. (Previously appointed board members in excess of five could continue to serve, but would not be replaced when their term expired.)[6] Under the 2017 reform legislation, any new agency CEO is to be nominated by the U.S. President and confirmed by the U.S. Senate with authority to select key agency personnel. Current USAGM CEO John F. Lansing, who had been selected and approved in 2015 by the BBG Board holding a Democratic majority during the Obama administration, was not nominated by President Obama nor confirmed by the Republican-controlled U.S. Senate, as this was not required under previous legislation. In June 2018, President Trump announced his intention to nominate documentary film producer Michael Pack to head the agency. He was confirmed by the Senate on June 4, 2020.

  8. I'll say again. If all the locals got together and brought weapons, they could run those n'er do goods out in like 90 minutes. Chazistan exists because the locals don't care enough.

If they cut off all internet/cellular access to the area would they disperse to various Starbucks?

  9. To be fair, Southlake is not Dallas.  It's almost entirely contained in Tarrant County, with some in Denton.
It is the DFW MSA, but it rightfully belongs to Fort Worth.  It's north Fort Worth, not even the most expansive definition of North Dallas.
I imagine Gateway Church derives most of its congregation from ruralish areas surrounding Southlake.  His appearance is probably there because it's quite a haul from Dallas proper, cutting down on the number of protestors.

Gateway Church on Hillcrest near Preston Hollow. Then to fundraiser hosted by Tommy Hicks Jr.

  10. Gateway Church in North Dallas, coming from Love Field.
And then he’s flying to Bedminster for a golf weekend. I hope he chokes on his birthday cake.

Barr and Ben Carson tagging along.

The President is scheduled for a 2:30 pm arrival at Love Field, then travels to Gateway Church at 3 o’clock to meet with church and community leaders. A private fundraiser is scheduled at 5:00 pm before the Commander-In-Chief departs Dallas at 7:00 pm.

  11. Thanks for posting that. I hadn’t seen that before. That video was the direct inspiration for Elbow’s Gentle Storm video which I was familiar with.

Also the inspiration for the Black or White video for Michael Jackson.

  12. That's a beautiful protest.  On message, good signage, nearly everybody wearing masks.  And the extremely, extremely white in a very rural part of the state.  Goes against almost all the stereotypes Trumpers have about these protests.  I bet at least half the people in that protest voted for him.  But there they are, in one of the most non-black places you can find in the Lower 48, speaking up about their country failing to provide justice and accountability to some of their fellow citizens.
But let me dispel with the hollow rhetoric and post what I came to post:
About the 0:11 mark.  Yoga pants, bright pink sneakers, rude ass titties.  Shit like that is gonna bring this country together.

Add Alpine and McKinney to the list. I’m sure there are others missed. Kinda surprised at the turnout at some of the D/FW ‘Burbs.

  14. Just fired up Big Lights, Big City. Michael J. Fox, Phoebe Cates, and Kiefer Sutherland. I think movies about the 80's are better than movies from the 80's,
Edit: I bailed. Sexy Beast is a much better choice. Mr. French's second best movie. Maybe Ben Kingsley's best role.

Sexy Beast. One of my favorite opening scenes ever.
