  1. Yeah, pretty much all the CoE lake areas are closed.  All the primitive and lakeshore sites at Cedar Hill.
We considered Tyler, but dorba.org says the trail is closed, although TPW parks are mostly open.

Tomorrow TSP will be open again! Don't forget to print your pass before you get there. It'll save you time and contact ;-)

Our multi-use trails are re-opening for mountain bikes tomorrow, March 25th. They need another day of sun and wind to prevent damage from use. The next several days look awesome for some trails riding.

  2. Because we're kind of bored, I was looking at some local places to do a night or two of camping, Murrell Park, Hickory Creek, and Cedar Hill SP.  All but Cedar Hill are closed for flooding and Cedar Hill is partially closed.  As you are probably aware, Murrell contains one of the trailheads for Northshore, and Cedar Hill SP contains one and is in the vicinity of three of the usually fast-drying trails.  We may be fuct for a while.

I heard ACoE closed the parks at Grapevine so I would check first. For camping/riding I would consider Tyler State Park. Trails are open and not too terribly far.

  3. So don't drink the water, don't you breathe the air.
If it's gotten to that point then I have to declare:

That you please bury me with it!
    Please bury me with it!

  4. Upgrade to a BB turbo, bigger intercooler, bigger injectors, Hydra (or other stand alone ecu), bigger rotors, lighter wheels, wider rubber, swaybars, and dial up the boost to 15...  Drives like stock below 3200 rpm and melts tires above it.   My old Fun car. 2005 TI  =>  250bhp in a 2,500lb go kart  I hope your self control > my self control.  Sold 2 years latter, like I said not many good roads around me.

Sweet setup. So far I’ve been able to resist plunging down that rabbit hole. Just an FM intake and Turbosmart.

  5. I still love the look of the NB.   Small, fun, cheap, & reliable  (with huge enthusiast community)  If I lived somewhere with winding roads I would have one.
I expected the Fiat version to look fanastic...  I don't care for it at all.

Man it was a blast! Once the world calms down I still want to make a trip out to Fruita and Moab. You’ll have to come. A big Surly group would be fun!

Everybody should ride Slickrock once. Amazing what you can climb with almost limitless traction. Poison Spider Mesa is epic but can brutal unless you are good. Porcupine Rim has some of the scariest sections I've ever ridden on. Glad I did those but no desire to do them again. 401/403 in Crested Butte and Monarch Crest in Salida are probably my favorites.

  8. Might be a good time for them to realize owning and operating 20 acres of prime real estate and maintaining an unnecessarily large inventory, all to project branding so that they can make their real money on financing and the service department isn't the best business model.  Still offer confiscatory in-house financing and overpriced oil changes, but lose the lot.  People know that they want these days when they arrive.  Order them the car, pass along the overhead savings to them, and let them come pick it up when it's ready.  If we can wait 6 weeks for this virus wave to pass, we can wait 6 weeks for the new Accord.

  9. Pretty good idea from Frisco:

    ATTENTION LOCAL FRISCO RESTAURANTS.

The Frisco Fire Fighters are asking you to DM us the following: Restaurant Name, Address and Phone Numbers so our On Duty Members can place food orders. Every member per shift pitches in $10.00 for meals.

Everyday the Frisco Fire Fighters are on shift for 24 hours to serve when you call 911. We want to continue that assistance in our community where we can during these financial hardships due to the shut down.

We will make sure a list goes out to each fire station in their response districts and encourage our members to eat out for their meals. This is in hopes of helping our community business owners take on this unexpected burden. #supportlocal

  11. I think all REI's are closing down anyway.  I'd recommend Bicycle Sport shop.  I know they're a "big boy" as you called it, but I've used them for maintenance for 15 years and they've always done a great job, them appear to be open according to their sites, and their service shops (at least for mine on South Lamar) are way off to the side, so you can still get in/out and avoid people.

Ditto on Bicycle Sports. Maybe a big boy but didn’t start out that way, and locally owned by Hill Abel.
Hill has been a tremendous supporter of Texas cycling, both road and off road for a very long time. He even spent time on the IMBA board of directors.

  12. Am I th only one still rolling with clipless pedals?  They were a revelation when I first got them and a pair of shoes.  I don't think I can ride serious without them anymore.

Been riding Time ATAC since the introduced them. Mid 90s I think. Still work good for me. I have platforms on my gravel bike.

  13. I like to run, but started having some patella tendon soreness, so my wife bought me a Hydrow for Christmas to mix it up a bit.  Highly recommend.

You'll need to turn it up a notch beyond the instructors to get a cardio workout, but once you figure it out the 20 or 30 minute workouts turn into some hard shit.

Wasn’t sure if I would like one so I got “cheap” water rower that has good ratings. Love it! Been doing 20 to 30 minutes a day since first of the year.

  14. I prefer the classics:

You know, baby, it's the 1980s

Baby Doc sent it up from Haiti

Can't get it on, or even get high

Come on, baby, fuck me and die

    No sex

    No sex, not anymore

    I remember 1982

Some VD strain, but that's all through

    This year it's a retrovirus

Now they'd just as soon gas and fire us

But no sex, not in the hall

No sex, not against the wall

I'm really worried about the future

Junkie blood is gonna pollute ya

Pretty soon we're all gonna get it

It's time to buy some stuff on credit

But no sex, not on the floor

    No sex, not anymore

You know, baby, it's the 1980s

Baby Doc sent it up from Haiti

Can't get it on, or even get high

Come on, baby, fuck me and die

    But no sex

    No sex

Self induced but hey, he does have a fever..

    I called the doctor

    In the morning

    I had a fever

    It was a warning

She said "There's nothing I can prescribe

To keep your raunchy bag of bones alive"

I got some money left for one more shot

She said "God bless you" I said "Thanks a lot"

    It's a slow, slow death
