Question for anyone who would know:
Is Nansen, or any other coached announced by the team under contract immediately? Is there some quick opt-out provision or something? I thought the Board of Regents had to vote on approving coaching contracts, or is that merely a formality?
Thanks, I'll hang up and listen. -
1) didn't ask
2) that has been brought up multiple times on this board. Go do your job on OB. -
No idea if they have any insight, but it is one of their fan sites. Who knows.

I don't buy Nansen going back for the same role. You're telling me the school with a $250 million deficit can afford to make Nansen one of the top paid coordinators in the country after we already money whipped him along with having the daughter factor? Doesn't pass the smell test. Just placating the fanbase so they stop doomposting about the roster all leaving
Good take. Money is likely the biggest issue. Even it's not Nansens pay rate, the support may not be there for that program. Then adding in that the NIL guys want someone else instead of Nansen... If you have them out things get tight. Maybe this is a play by the AD? "See guys, we tried. He wants to stick with his pay increase at Texas." Maybe it gets him some good will from both sides.

Hmm I don't 9.95 at all but did Sydir Mitchell get hit by a bus or something?
I mean seriously some of you sound like you've caught whatever is wrong Satyanash when you go on and on about we have to get a DT and a TE in the portal...
I'm probably the biggest Sydir Mitchell fan, and he performed well when he played this year. However, we lost Sweat, Murphy and Trill Carter. I'm not dooming, but depth I would qualify is an issue. Especially when one of his issues last year was stamina and playing extended snaps. Do I expect his stamina to improve? Absolutely, but he's only one man.

I could have stomached him leaving to be a HC. Upset but understanding. Losing him to the same DC position we just took him from would be frustrating to say the least.

I see. I guess I was wondering - if, for example, Michigan's players can leave due to coaching change opening the portal for 30 more days, but no one can leave from Texas because the portal is closed, would that put us in a pinch at all?
also, if we pursue say a B+ player now, do we regret that if an A player at the same position comes available in a few weeks.
just wondering.
In theory, we could process someone at any time, but spring ball would be the opportunity for coaches to see who/what position would be a weakness and process accordingly. You don't want to leave someone without being able to transfer.

yeah, I get it.
questions -
- how many more transfers can we take?
- does it make sense to keep some powder dry (aside from Niblack) if we think more transfers are coming from UM and potentially other programs, depending on who UM taps to replace Harbaugh?
Just asking. I don't know about roster spots left, who we might want, timelines, etc.
I see your fairly new to the board. Welcome. The mantra regarding transfers/portal is, "don't worry about the numbers," the coaches are comfortable showing anyone the door if an immediate upgrade is available.

He’s the best WR in the country. I want him.
I respect it, but personally I'd like to see what our current WR's can do, while also saving some juice for other needs. (DLine)

With Fisch likely to take the Washington job, and us taking Nansen/Akina, are there any worthwhile DT's we could try to lure from Arizona?

I have hated the Texans since I was a teen. When I went to see Peyton take them on in Houston Some random drunk slapped my ass walking by and tried to pick a fight. I was a fat and tall 14 year old but I've hated the fan base since then.
Anyway Rod Wright is assistant Dline coach with them now. Makes sense we have to wait for them to lose to announce.

Sark is bringing in an NFL guy. I think.
Curious if "NFL guy," is a clever guise for Okam. Didn't he get fired twice in the NFL before going back to CFB with Toledo?

The movie you're looking for where this is true is National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation. Holy shit was that a crude, boring slog.
You bring solid energy but don't you ever insult a National Lampoon movie like this again.

Nahlin (IT) mentioned in a question about Texas being ‘done’ at TE that Sark/Texas are very high on Juan Davis.
Maybe he picked up the X's and O's. We will see.

Have any of the 995ers mentioned Staes again since Sanders declared or are we on cruise control till spring portal season?

Not gonna fault a guy going from Analyst to one of 10 AC spots. Would have loved him back but it is what it is.
