  1. Do I think Ian Boyd and Scipio Tex mix like oil and water on the EGAT podcasts? Hunnerd percent.

Do I think Randy Boone is a great Longhorn with lots of insight about baseball? Hunnerd percent.

Do I think Scipio and EGAT would benefit from any other regular partner besides someone who agrees with Scipio a hunnerd percent of the time and regularly compares Longhorn football to his Yoakum High School experience ? Hunnerd percent.

Do I still listen to every EGAT episode? Hunnerd percent.

Looks like I'm getting a visit from a Cutco rep tomorrow (good kid, graduated, etc.).

What should I be looking at?  I've heard good things about shears (I could use a better pair) and steak knives (don't really need them, but whatever).  I have a chef's knife and cleaver I'm fine with.  Might look at the chef's knife anyway to keep people from using mine.  Bread knife maybe?

100% the shears. Our pair is over 20 years old and will still cut through bone. You might consider buying multiple pair to give as gifts.

Georgia only has 230 punt return yards.   Texas has 368 punt return yards.  Texas has had 68 yards of punt return against them - for a net of 300.

    Rice - 0
    Alabama - (-6)
    Wyoming - 17
    Baylor - 0

Maybe they are and maybe they aren’t.

Kansas State has blown every team out - both at home and away - since we played them. I think they are pretty fucking good. And save me the “they got to play against Howard” nonsense. Howard is fucking good - we just confused him and shut down their running game (which we have done against everyone).

OU has played 3 true road games this year and looked shitty in all three - a dogfight with SMU (who is OK but still G5), a dogfight with Cincy (who sucks) and then a loss at KU.

Yes, I’m fully aware and expecting that they will play awesome against us on Saturday, but I’m just saying *at this point* one can make a valid argument that essentially dominating K-State isn’t a pretty impressive win.

(Yes I know the score doesn’t show that but that game was never in doubt. We were up 3 scores with like 2 minutes left in the 3rd quarter and then Gundy went into turtle mode)

You lose credibility when you say stuff like OU played SMU as a true road game.

Will be there in 12 days. Staying in Koreatown. I like food so this thread has more than enough suggestions. Bought the city pass since we'll be there for 6 days and wife wants to do the top of the Rock.

What is your go to for sushi and French? Met a guy in Austin a few weeks ago that was from
NYC and he said Roberta's for pizza, Chef Morimoto for sushi and also Chelsea Market? Thoughts?

Chelsea Market is one of those places that gets recommended a lot for tourists and is actually a good idea, IMO. Lots of cool/good options for food and fun to wander through. Then you can take a walk over to the Little Island and/or take a walk on the High Line. Both are unique public parks worth a visit.

  6. Anywhere interesting you’d go for a birthday dinner if you also had to take a 10 yr old whose idea of branching out is the sandwich rather than the nuggets at CFA? She’ll eat meat and potatoes but otherwise not adventurous at all. Whereas I’d prefer to go to a great omakase meal if I could, for instance.

Should I just go to one of the Danny Meyer restaurants (Union Square, Grammercy Tavern) and call it a day? They seem to have kids items or kid friendly-ish stuff.

I know this has been asked a dozen times but just casting my line into the waters here.

Quoting to reiterate. Do not support these fucks.

In addition, it is not a “romantic” or cool experience in any way. Literally the biggest waste of money on an NYC trip. Spend that money on any other activity.

  8. Dude…I just read this entire thread in one sitting. Nothing but respect for you. Your progress, commitment, and honesty are truly moving. So, not only did you broker my mortgage, you have inspired me big time.

Also…the 5x5 is a great plan for you. It is exactly what I was hoping you’d choose as I read through the thread. When you are ready for something different in a couple of months, check out Jim Wendler’s “Boring but Big” 5/3/1 program. It will really help with hypertrophy aka making your muscles bigger. I know you said what you look like is not important to you, but it genuinely feels good to fill out the cuffs on a T-shirt, haha.

  9. Headed to NYC in October with wife and 10 yr old daughter. I’ve looked through the thread and noted several recommendations, but Any current recommendations for a hotel that you’ve stayed at and liked? Or, is there a neighborhood/area you recommend? Our main criteria are safe/clean/quiet, close to a subway stop, and budget in $500-600 (#surlypoor). It may be that I just pick a chain and a good location, but I’d love to hear from you all.

Last year we ended up in Times Square, not because #tourist but just got a good deal. It was fine, but it was a minor beating to  wade through a crowd every time we left the hotel, especially with a kid. Hoping to end up somewhere central-ish but maybe a bit quieter.

funny side note: we get out of the car in the grocery store parking lot the other day, and my kid says, “It smells like New York!” I look around, and someone nearby is spending their lunch break lighting up. She nailed it

I’d be more optimistic about GameDay if Jess Sims dressed more like Laura Rutledge. They’re not paying her to dress like Billie Eilish.

Dropping Pollack is a plus. Corso is a question mark. If he can come back at 80% of his former self, I’d give it a shot.

I have no problems with McAffe. At least he’s genuinely excited to be there.

The Bear is the worst gambler in America. I hope he got laid off in the purge.

I don’t know to fix it. Van Pelt is probably the only personality left who could save it, but I doubt he wants to travel that much.

SEC Nation isn’t much better. Finebaum’s only talent is getting yelled at by crazy callers.  And I think they moved Laura Rutledge up to the big leagues.

I guess I’ll continue to watch because hate Urban, Reggie, Leinart, and Ohio State on the FOX Big Noon show.

You wished it into existence my man. The Bear will be on Fox next year. His contract was up and he switched networks.
