  1. I do wonder, at some level, how much the AT&T purchase effected things.  The HBO Execs May have been told by the Warner people that the unlimited budgets was coming to an end once the sale was final, so if you want creative control, I’d get done for Ma Bell rolls up.

    That didn’t happen.
  2. I remember when we lost West and South Houston during Mack's last years. Giles had a shit handle on his territory and failed recruiting/evaluating good talent (Danielle Hunter anyone?).

People questioned why some of us groaned during the announcement of this hire, but if they've followed recruiting long enough, all of this shouldn't be a surprise.

  3. Nickel doesn’t take that off the table at all. If Thompson struggles and we can’t find anyone there who can cover well and still man their run assignments, then Foster is probably the best we’ve got (and it helps Overshown see the field). The reality is you’re almost never going to find someone who can play the run and cover guyd like Tywan Wallace in space. I hope Orlando starts asking less of the nickel in coverage.
Im just not sure how many college DBs could do everything Orlando ask. Derwin James is about the only guy who comes to mind who could handle all of the Nicjek’s assignments in Orlando’s scheme.

Would’ve loved to see Kenny Vaccaro in this scheme. Probably the best player for BJ to emulate in ability to cover and provide run support.

  4. 2. The decision of DeMarvion Overshown to turn down the opportunity to replace Gary Johnson at Rover and move back to safety.

Hmm, I must've missed this. How is Overshown going to see the field in the next few years?

This surprised me as well. Did Overshown insist on sticking to safety or could he not keep weight at lb.
  5. This probably will be true, but apparently it did so well with test audiences and the trailer was so popular in Asia, they moved this to a summer release.

That’s not why they moved it
  6. Sure. But he doesn't even play that position right now and he's the #2 ranked player in the state and the number 14 overall player in the nation. There is some definite dissonance between his ranking, where he projects, and his proficiency at that projected position. Who would you rather have, Drew Sanders or Johnny Wilson? Because Wilson fell 11 spots to number 32 overall, 18 spots below Sanders. I'd rather have the guy who is a good WR than the guy who you hope is going to be a good WR.

Not sure that’s a fair comparison. Sanders is really a TE, but plays multiple positions for Denton. 247 probably doesn’t categorize him as such because his limited snaps at TE. But he’s really fucking good (particularly when he plays TE) and I hope there a way to pull him.
  7. Normally, elite level running backs want to be the only take at the position. But that’s not necessarily the case with Milton. He and fellow five-star running back target Zachary Evanshave been in frequent contact and have talked about teaming up with each other at the next level. In fact, Evans told me this weekend that Milton is the other back he really has a desire to play with. Texas is obviously a true mutual choice for both prospects. — I spoke to a source with strong connections on the West Coast who told me that five-star linebacker Justin Flowe to Texas is becoming more of a real possibility. Flowe is very open to playing further away from home and is friends with 2019 Texas signee and ringleader De’Gabriel Floyd. There is no exact date set, but Flowe plans to make a visit to Texas in the very near future. He is part of the same 7v7 program that produced both Floyd and McCoy.
    farther.
    otherwise, sure, sign me up.

  8. I don’t feel tOSU on the recruiting trail nearly as much as I did two years ago. It seemed like they were coming after everyone and winning a good portion. Outside of Wilson the Ohio native last cycle, I feel like we have closed off that pipeline for the most part. JT Barrett handing off to JK Dobbins made me ragey. Aggy on the upswing and OU recruiting well has helped. Now we just need to kneecap the annual Stanford OL1 thievery and we will be in business.

Hiring their best Texas recruiter helped
