Having a "military education" leads aggys to contemplate the more serious aspects of life.

Who can explain why there are so few underground bomb shelters in and around Houston? You know, in case Russia were to launch a land invasion and subject the population to indiscriminate bombing raids.

"Kind of random, and definitely in the highly unlikely scenario, but what would we do in most of the US if something like this happened? As far as I know, here, in Houston, none of our buildings have bomb shelters or cellars that could act as one to house the public...." https://texags.com/forums/16/topics/3274372/replies/61695513

Why the fuck is aggy worried about bomb shelters?  Aren't they supposed to save the world from the commie bastards while Ukraine and the rest of us sit around and sip tea?

But the model decided upon by Perry, et al, was to push the first two years of aggy undergrad education to the state's junior colleges and community colleges, with the College Station campus being a "finishing school" for STEM majors. Under that approach, it was believed the state could theoretically produce upward of 40,000 STEM graduates from A&M each year, thus meeting the projected demands of the Texas economy for STEM graduates.

That was the "quantity over quality" approach. So far, not many of us are impressed with the "quality" of the resultant product. Personally, I don't give a shit because we never even interview Texas A&M grads.

Here is one of my favorite examples of how aggy wanting to be "just like tu" holds them back.

One of the favorite aggy dreams is "equal PUF funding." That will never happen. First of all, it would take a Constitutional amendment. Secondly, the UT system has far more students than the A&M system, and A&M administrators have already shown they have no interest in developing a legitimate university system. Any additional PUF funding given to the A&M system would be squandered on the College Station campus.

"Equal" PUF funding would take money from various UT system schools who have shown far more promise than any A&M system school (apologies to TAMU-CC that made it into the NCAA MBB tourney, lol). The PUF financial assets are at $31.B. Current funding gives A&M 1/3 of the 0.0525 distribution, which works out to be around $525 million/yr. "Equal" funding with the UT system would give A&M approximately $787.5 million (annually), a difference of roughly $260 mil.

But what the ags don't understand is that UT Austin is FAR more heavily funded by the state legislature and Congress than A&M. UT receives about $6k per FTSE more than A&M from the state, and about $8k per FTSE from Congress. A difference of about $14k per student. Multiply that by A&M's 55.6k enrollment, and it is a difference of well over $750 million, about three times what A&M would potentially receive if "equal" PUF funding was effected.

So the ags bleat about wanting to split the PUF "equally" instead of pressing their elected representatives for equal legislative funding. So much for the value of a Mays Business School education.

The problem for A&M is that a rote education model is far cheaper to effect than a meaningful education model. Elected representatives know this. They aren't going to waste taxpayer money on equalizing A&M and UT Austin legislative funding. In short, if a UT-level education could be delivered on an A&M budget, UT Austin and TAMU would have equal funding. But what the state's economy needs is a whole bunch of STEM grads produced from a rote learning model and a smaller number of well-educated individuals produced from a meaningful learning model.

And, while every aggy would immediately begin to argue with me about this, the fact is the Texas economy has been running quite smoothly using this approach for the past few decades. Meanwhile, aggy is still struggling to define their educational model and to employ it effectively and efficiently.

"Quantity over quality" is only effective in trade school applications. The "aggy network" exists because any aggy is pretty much replaceable by any other random aggy. Not many of them have specific skills, not many of them have specific value. They are essentially all generic and replaceable by another College Station cog. That is because they all had the same rote learning education.

40,000 aggy graduates a year?!?!   And that's how you kill the state's economy...  and population.

We are the ones being hurt the most from the blowback of the t.u. and OU SEC conference expansion. Now nobody in NCAA leadership positions want football playoff expansion nor too many SEC teams in the basketball tournament.

    The SIPS!!!!....ALWAYS THE SIPS!!!!

Someone remind me who it was that exposed the whole thing in a selfish attempt to blow the whole thing up, no matter how much money this meant for the entire conference?  And what was it again that brought playoff expansion talks to a grinding halt?   Fucking aggy lack of self awareness is just mind numbing...

The only thing he got right is the last part.    Yes aggy, when it comes down to these types of choices between UT and TAM, the University of Texas is always going to be preferred choice and aggy the "if we can't have" choice.

Hate to tell aggy, but the SEC didn't choose aggy over UT.  Committees won't pick aggy over UT for tournaments.  I know it is impossible for aggy to understand the University of Texas and Texas A&M are NOT equals. They are NOT the same. And the only people in the world who would say they are, is an aggy, plain and simple....

In theory they should be able to make ACC/PAC type of money in a new deal.  They're going to have average TV ratings in the ballpark of those two conferences after UT and OU leave.  The AAC was creeping up toward the PAC over the last few years and the newest version of the Big 12 will be quite a bit stronger than the AAC was.

I suspect that once the new deals are worked out that the Big 12 will start showing some more flexibility with the idea of letting UT and OU leave.  Iowa State's leadership might want to turn the screws to the two schools that are leaving but the Texhoma schools probably won't.  They're going to want UT, A&M, and OU on future schedules - and friendly relations in the event an SEC spot ever opens up (not to mention avoiding exit precedents they'd have to live up to themselves if they leave, too.)

They are not making that type of money.   You are usually an ok poster, but when it comes to this stuff, you live somewhere with unicorns.  Just because some KSU or BU fan's podcast on YouTube projects this, it is not a projection from the networks.  You use the OSU/BU game rating as a marker.  That was  solely based on hype ESPN was using to push the upcoming playoff games.  It doesn't reflect the attention either team draws nationally.

The Big 12 has a population footprint at least half the size of everyone's else.  That is why the Big 12 relied heavily on National appeal, but no one wanted to schedule better games. Yet, they had no problem letting Texas and eventually OU do all the heavy work.

But now as a conference that needed all the National attention they could pull, they lost the two horses that pulled it.  And with it, they lost the Texas population as numbers.   The reason they rushed and expanded with the ones they did is because they know it is bad.  They grabbed Houston trying to salvo somewhat of an interest in Texas.  BYU is the closest to a P5 school out there.  UFC, recognizable name in a big state. Same with Cincy.  They are desperately trying to grow the footprint for hopefully a networks soon.  They HAVE to have it because without it, they are DOOMED. This is NOT going to get them there.  Not even close....

If they make half the money the other P5s make that does nothing to compete, but the other leagues have networks that are starting to distribute insane money on top of the media numbers.   It is done for the Big 12.  It is just a matter of time...

    Is $90M for real?

The Ags, Buffs, Huskers and Tigers got out for $20M each, but we need to pay $90M?

I guess the way to swallow that pill is to say that’s the price of never, ever going to Waco, Lubbock or Stillwater ever again. (FW is ok, but we’re going to need to see some 2 home, 1 away contracts to start clawing back on the $90M).

The Big 12 is going to fuck themselves by being a little bitch and not wanting to let go of the coattails.  One last payday...

When the contract expires, UT and OU will walk out with a "see ya later". "Yep, you got it... In court. Sue us bitches".  It will get tied up in court until the Big 12 comes unraveled.  Which will start when they see that first check without coattails to ride.

I was on the UT Football support staff that season. The team played an extremely tough preseason scheduled(Auburn, Penn State and OU) but it appears that our fanbase never noticed. Of course. they're not the ones playing the games either. The team was extremely worn down by the end of the season as there was never really a chance to develop depth. Playing the the SWC back then was as fun as running through a minefield back with teams just anxiously awaiting to ruin your season. IMHO, the team was not overrated. It just suffered from the bravado of the coach back then.

The good old SWC years.  Just about every team in the SWC spent half each practice session on their weekly opponent and the second half preparing for Texas leading up to that game.  Beating the Longhorns was what their season was all about and nothing else, outside of the once every decade or two where they had something of a decent year...

Kinda sad when you look at almost all the rampant cheating going on in the SWC was done with beating Texas in mind. But for the most part, failed miserably (LOL @aggy).

There has to be a cheaper way to give these kids with critical low self-esteem some way to become productive in society. This fake military bullshit is doing more harm than good to these naive children.

We need to quit making these poor kids think what they are doing at Texas A&M has anything to do with serving their country. It doesn't. Military service has nothing to do with participation trophies and costumes.

The people of Texas deserve better than Texas A&M.

The SEC could place an ultimatum on the b12 with a simple addition to the Bylaws saying no sec sport will be allowed to play against b12 teams for a set length of time if they don’t let texas and ou out of their contract. Regular season sports of course.

    aggy_ralph copy.jpg

The whole CIA thing actually makes a lot of sense.   When it comes to intelligence, the CIA has a long and distinguished history of massive failure after failure.

    1. Korea.  Even with China amassed 300,000 plus troops on the border, "there is NO threat of them crossing the border and entering the war".  FAIL.

    2. Vietnam. "Russia will commit combat units to the war. But the Vietnamese people will rise up against the commie bastards"  FAIL   Russia supplied weapons and limited advisors who were stationed in North Vietnam mainly helping with air defenses.

    3. Cuba, the pigs and the missiles thingy. "Easy target, easy to overthrow. Minimal Russian troops present, limited Russian weaponry present".   FAIL   Not only had Russia assembled a troop force x10 the size of what we thought, they already had nukes present in Cuba, including battlefield nukes and were authorized to use them of the US  committed the bulk of its forces into taking Cuba.  It turns out the Missle Crisis was only another round of nukes to be installed in Cuba. They already had nukes ready to go at any time.  They were later decommissioned quietly in exchange for ours in Turkey and West Germany, ect...

    4.  Fall of the Soviet Union.  Everything we thought we knew about their weaponry, missle capacity, fighting strength was so wrong in all the worse ways if things ever got real.   FAIL

    5. 911. FAIL

    6. Iraq WMDs. FAIL

    7. Afghanistan/Taliban. FAIL

That's just the highlights.  The failures have been so epic that the CIA can no longer put together bombing target packages.  Only so many Red Cross hospitals, aspirin factories, baby bottle factories, ect can be bombed before it becomes obvious that they might be inept at picking where the bombs go.

But now, throw a shit ton of money at something and completely assume that fixed the problem, only to be caught off guard when that didn't fix shit...  Yeah, they are great at that!  CIAggy.  Pretty fitting

That’s not what he said.  He said people will look past a loss to Bama game bc everyone expects us to lose.  But people will be up in arms if we lose to UTSA.  Given their successful year last year and Jeff Traylor constantly trying to link his name with the Texas job, they’re going to spend all offseason trying to make sure we go 0-2.  A loss to UTSA and Sark can kiss any chance of being our head coach after year 2 good bye.  You can’t lose to Kansas at home and then follow that up with losing to UTSA at home again.  Basically he wants Sark to know that he can’t lose to Traylor and his team if he wants to be the coach here long term.

We aren't losing to UTSA. It will be worse than the TT game.

It will be funny when we catch 'bama flat and blast them and aggy gets shitholed by them for another 8-4 season.

I seriously doubt many of the ag boosters funding their NIL crap are willing to get into criminal liability for tax evasion. The payer is indifferent to whether the recipient pays their taxes. If they payer is transferring money and not reporting the transfer the IRS will catch them. It's just a matter of time.

Especially since they probably used more than their usual bagmen this time. New ones who didn't understand the ins and outs of the NIL any better than the rest of us, so they plan on reporting it properly to the IRS.

Jimbo threatening the SEC teams to shut up and stop drawing attention to aggy or aggy would blow up everybody else's recruiting practices, had to draw plenty of unwanted attention from more than just the NCAA. Uncle Sam will want his money and Uncle Sam will get his money.

As long as Ewers is able to play near the level he did in HS, this offense is going to be epic.  Personally, I think he will. I remember the first couple of times watching him play. The  first time I thought this kid is really good. The second time I was looking forward to seeing him again and kept thinking to myself how much he reminded me of Aikman. From his touch on the long ball to his pocket presence and the way he was willing to step into a throw, knowing he was about to get leveled, and deliver a perfect strike... But he had better legs.
