    Billy in his feelings
Dalton Hughes: Why would any stud linebacker not want to play behind all of the studs we have along the defensive line? Makes absolutely no sense to me. Thanks, Liuch.

Billy Liucci: Yeah, I think some of it's just program momentum, like the last question. These guys see that. These guys see that; they feel it. They feel it on social media. It influences them today. And last year at this time, A&M was perceived as a rising program, even though they were 8-4. To recruits, they see Texas as a rising program right now, not a rising program necessarily, but momentum.

And hey, they got Arch Manning‍. That's what got that thing going for them. Johntay Cook‍ tweets a lot. Kids see it and then he's up front and center. A&M had that last year in Bobby Taylor. It's just a perception momentum thing.

I don't think people necessarily around college football think Texas is a rising program under Sarkisian. He's never proven it. For all the shit they talk over there in Austin on Twitter and stuff, their record last two years is 5-7, 8-4. It's the same at A&M. Now, they'll say, well, we went from 5-7. You also have a coach that's never done a damn thing. In fact, he's actually done the opposite of a damn thing as a head coach twice. But it's perception. And it's what they perceive where it's going.
And so I think if you say, why don't they get a linebacker? I think it has to do with the fact that Anthony Hill was at A&M and watched the Aggies get smoked by Florida on a no atmosphere Saturday.

We talk about all those dudes that came to A&M because they watched the 'Bama game and stormed the field, and they were at the Auburn game. And that was how we tried to tell the country, look, this is why they did this class. Well, the opposite happened at Kyle Field until a few weeks ago this year. Some kids were here, and watched them lose to App State. You watch them lose to Ole Miss, you watch them get dusted by an average Florida team. That stuff adds up. And also, when you're giving up yards like you are defensively, and you see a couple of linebackers on the field in most of the game, maybe that affects you too on some level

Well Looch, it's like this.  When you are not the main rival of your main rival, it's a probability that your school is not considered an elite football school and therefore lacks the pedigree to absorb a 5-7 season with minimal damage.  So sit back and enjoy what a 5-7 season does for a consistently mediocre team.  There's always next year.

So now we’ve bought his dad and another hs coach with new jobs?  What are the jobs?

Wash, rinse, repeat.  It's been this way since the first year of recruiting...  It's never, "fuck, tu beat us for that one".. it's never aggy sucking being an issue. It's always "tu money'.

100 + years of eyeballing the University of Texas with envy, desperately wanting to be UT, yet cannot comprehend why someone would pick "tu" over aggy.

It's weird, they've been in the SEC for years and should have observed by now that the difference between the best 'bama, UGA and occasional LSU squads and pretty much the rest of the college football world isn't just the top line talent, but the immense depth.  They are doing everything they can to convince themselves that losing young 2nd team guys isn't a big deal, when in reality it's a huge deal.  It's the same problem we had when most of our 2018 (?  can't remember) class flamed out or left.  You can't reasonably expect to get through a season with ~ 25 capable players.

This will have a long term.affect.  aggy is lucky that there's a portal now, or this would've been disastrous or even catastrophic.

This has been going on for a long, long time now

And yet it goes over their head, just like this class that is the embodiment of how aggy views itself.

    Accomplished so little, yet...

Only fucking aggy would try to self- promote after the passing of a coach that absolutely owned them on the field and clowned them mercilessly verbally. Much of his humor was way over their heads though..  Of course he loved Kyle Field, he might have the highest winning % there of any coach.

I'd love to see the full quote for context of what they cherry-picked above...if it happened at all.

He did say that... And like always, he wasn't praising aggy, he was mocking them.

Name names, you hedging bitch. This will be followed by, "Jimbo thought some other guy would be a better fit. Believe me, it's best for A&M."

Not that it really matters, because anyone is a fit...

    Jimbo's playbook

Because we run our mouths about how great we can be,but have accomplished literally nothing since world war 2. Like it or not, that is why.

Also, they think we are weird with all the yell leader stuff

    Correction.

    1. aggy runs its mount about how great they ARE.

    2. Today, 9/1/1939 is the accepted starting date of WWII. But, at the time, it was considered a European War (and a.separate Asian War already being fought), and escalated to a World War with the attack on Pear Harbor....   So aggy hasn't won shit since BEFORE WWII.

    3. Nobody thinks that shit it weird.  It IS weird.

Agreed, times have completely changed where I think it is MORE likely.  For one they can get paid and paid well to stay. Mannings already have lots of money. I think it will come down to if he's ready and/or what the projected draft board looks like and where his possible destinations are if he indeed pans out as a top QB.  He's made it clear there is no rush to get to the NFL and that he preferred a sitatuion where he wasn't asked to play day 1

Arch doesn't *need* to but it sure seems the plan.

VY says he is "hearing" Arch will redshirt.  I feel like it was mentioned during his recruitment that the Mannings have no problem with that/prefer it.

This is correct.  The Mannings have been doing this a long time. They are working towards Arch having a long and lucrative NFL career. That's the reason they are in no rush his development. That's the reason they stated a RS season isn't a problem.

As for staying through a senior year, it's hard to say.  I have a feeling it depends on how close we are to capping his college career with a NC, and how well our O-line protects.  Risk vs reward is likely the deciding factor for the years he plays college ball.  Money isn't going to be the biggest thing.  They know the better he is in college, the more he will make in the NFL, and the more experience and maturity he has going into the NFL, the better the odds of him succeeding once there....

    OK, new era.

Kyler Murray.  Heisman Trophy winner.  Freshman year:  59.5%, 686 yards, 5 TD, 7 INT

Lamar Jackson.  Heisman Trophy winner.  Freshman year:  54.7%, 1840 yards, 12 TD, 8 INT

I mean, when will you see that Quinn is pretty similar to all kinds of guys who ended up being great but started out kinda rough?

If I remember right, while he was at OSU, due to the QBs they had on campus, the true freshmen QBs had minimal practice workouts, and Ewers had even less because he was one of the scout team's QBs.  This was one of the main reason he transfered after that year.

Ewers came into a new system, without playing or even having a lot of practice in the prior two years. He might as well be a true freshman with two years of inactivity from his last HS game and his first College game.

it has not been pretty at times. But at times, it's effortless for him. I get the feel he expected more out of himself and tried to shoulder the team, but it didn't work out that way. Throws he made 2 years ago consistently, were off this year, which had/has him thinking about the throw too much and it shows. When the receiver is open, it's almost as if he's in the pocket praying "please be a good throw, please be a good throw", and we've seen how it goes. But then other times, especially when he spots someone open he didn't expect, he does his wrist flick without a second thought and nails a dime, effortlessly.

He's been up and down for sure, and it hasn't been pretty. A lot of it has been on him, but there's been plenty of times when the receivers haven't done him any favors, added to an O-line that's had it's share of breakdowns.  Yes he could've played a little better... Or he could've played worse.  It's possible he's still banged up. I remember Colt's sophomore year, his shoulder caused issues with accuracy and under throwing the deeper routes.

I think Ewers will be okay next year.  He did leave the door open for competition with Arch though, so if I'm mistaken, we have another top QB recruit to lean on.

Training camp is going to be interesting next year.

I know.  Maybe it was the coach, maybe it was the team, but I just Didn't enjoy the season.  I haven't enjoyed our running game since JC entered the draft early.

The lack of holds called all game blows my mind... its like for some reason that section no longer exists in the B12 rule book

Well, at least this year, they were even both ways against OU/UT.  Hell, I was so used to having all hold calls go against Texas, while OU players got by with bear hugs and shit.

That's the only game we will get somewhat of a break, if we are still here next year, but it will be pretty ugly in the rest.

This was a 38-17 win if Ewers just plays a game manager game. I'm not giving up on him but there will be an open competition for next season. I'd prefer he improve and win so Manning can redshirt but he better work on processing and decision-making.

I believe Ewers will be just fine next year. He might as well be a true freshman, with a long gap between his last HS game and his first college game.  He's had his moments, both good and bad, but drop balls and O line break downs from time to time, haven't helped either.

I would love to RS Arch.  I am going to miss Bijan. Until Bijan came along, I hadn't been excited about handing the ball off in a decade.

Holy shit, I didn't realize aggy is the only team in the SEC that has no chance to make a bowl game.

Their only two P-5 wins were against Miami, who has lost to Middle Tennessee and Arkansas, who lost to Liberty.  What else is needed to prove preseason polls need to end.  The 6th ranked aggy is going to end the season ranked something like 106th in spite of wins over two high ranked teams at the time they played.

If it was me and I had to make that anouncement I think I’d say “total tickets sold to todays game, 91,000” or something like that.

"The attendance today is 90,000. This must be a typo. Excluding the ones who must be here today, such as myself, security, both teams, the band and such, the attendance is somewhere around 193-whatever year that was, to commemorate our last National Championship".

In their defense attendance is almost always tickets sold and not turnstile count, right?  I guess everyone can do it a little differently but that’s always been the way for MLB and the NBA for example.

Yeah, but how could anyone in the booth, look down at that crowd, and make that announcement out loud without busting up within the first three words coming out of their mouth?
