With these new redshirt and transfer rules coming into the game now I really think coaching staffs need to put a lot of effort into find character fits because even starters are bailing on programs now if they dont think they are getting attention they deserve.

Probably is a non factor as far as determining where to put your character threshold

Pet TFLoss, 247 expects 5* CB Kelee Ringo to visit for the Baylor game.  That'd be 2 OOS 5* defenders expected to visit that week along with Sa'vell Smalls.

Good. Watson and Caldwell are solid takes in a weak corner class, but lets get back to landing 5* field corners

I don't think he's done any camps, or at least not that I am aware of. He won the fastest man at the Stars at Night Texas event and broad jumped 11'2" and has run a 10.3 100 on multiple occasions. All this to say that you can't coach size and you can't coach speed and he has both.

as far as numbers in Texas track meets he's got ::

    10.34 100

    22.5 200

    22'2" LJ

    45'5" Trip

and his 11'2" broad jump at Texas. all this at a legit 6'2" and 202. He also has good grades and test scores. He's a screaming take in any cycle imho. Barely scratching the surface of what he could be.

Additionally, he won "fastest man" at Under the Lights, the same event Ty 4.35 Jordan participated in

Tyler Owens is this year's Overshown. Athletic freak who shoots up the rankings a little late. I'll take it.

I'm probably just arguing semantics, but while Overshown rose nationally late, he was a known stud regionally for a long time. This seems a little different.

    Broughton and Washingron??

Who are you taking out to put Broughton in? Does he feel like a heavy Texas lean?

Safety is loaded once again, and it's not clear to me yet who we're prioritizing yet at the position, so I feel better about the other ten at this point

  6. Top ten most likely guys I see in the 2020 class, in order.

    1) Hudson Card
    2) Kelvontay Dixon
    3) Jaylen Garth
    4) Alfred Collins
    5) Ty Jordan
    6)Jaylon Jones
    7) Mookie Cooper
    8') Logan Parr
    9) Prince Dorbah
    10) Casey Collier

    Thoughts?

I'd say it also helped us get a real foot in the door with some players, such as Bru and Sanders (unlikely as they may be), and made a huge positive impact for our Pacific and Mountain time zone recruiting effforts.

It's a required step for guys like Bru and Sanders and some other potential elites down the road, but we probably need to also at least beat one of TCU or OU to really move the needle; otherwise, it's probably not enough at the end of the day

So to sum up the last 5 pages: Nothing has really changed from a recruiting standpoint since the USC win except Brown committing, and Baltimore sucks

It mostly locked in the current and likely commits, aside from Shepherd who's in his own category. A loss could have meant that some guys started to waiver in their commitment, especially without a win against TCU or OU to make up for it.

Are the Newton kids the ones with certain influences in the corner? Someone on this board said something to that effect.

They had a handler trying to shop them as a package deal, but Sylvester might not be beholden to that

Per TFLoss, the brainiacs say the staff has no intention of pulling Shepherd's offer at this time.

They don't need to make a decision at least until the early signing period, and probably until NSD if they can talk him into not waiting to sign early (shouldn't be difficult with him). With a kid like him, kick the can down the road to get as much data for as long as possible

Ask your bros if they've heard anything about Demas being ... less than an Ivy League candidate and the grades to reflect that. I'm surprised, as I was under the impression, after using the Rosetta Stone to translate his Twitter posts, that this young man was a risk of foregoing football altogether in order to pursue his studies in quantum physics with the best and brightest that Oxford can offer.

With that high school, which is one of the worst in Texas, I've always baked in that distinct possibility with both Shepherd and Demas

Shepherd has more red flags though; he's really overweight and will have to work on his body, he's really far away technique wise, and now he's off the team. It's one of the reasons I've been hoping to land a third offensive tackle.

We need a lot to happen for us to land either of them, let alone both.  USC will tank this season, but Bru has said that this season results won't affect his decision.  Dude's best friend is JT Daniels.  I'd put it at 5% chance we land him.  If we win the Big 12 and USC tanks, then maybe 20%.
Actually feel better about Sanders.  Bama is loaded with RBs.  If we can show we run the ball and win 9 games, I think we can pull it off.  Just need to sell to him that it's better in his interest to start here day 1 than to ride the pine behind all of Bama's 5 star RBs.  Take him out to 6th and the lake and show him he'd be a celebrity here in Austin living the life... and then match the money bag bama has sent his dad.  Still a long shot.
9.95ers are just looking for clicks with these posts.

If USC tanking means we land McCoy (not sure it does) then I'm all for it. Otherwise it just makes our biggest win of past two seasons look not so big..

It needs to be bad enough to where Daniels and St Brown are negative about where things are going, imo

That's true, too.  TCU generated a ton of yards against OSU.  Oddly, though, their points came almost entirely off of big plays (Anderson's 90+ yard run; and several deep passes).  Again, I have no idea how good (or not good) TCU's OL is, because they were asked to do very little against OSU's fantastic DL.

The few times OSU dropped numbers and Robinson was forced to make progressions to find an open man, though, he looked extremely mortal.

Right, that especially happened late in the game when TCU was down by two possessions and had to score quickly; Ohio State might be the toughest team in the country to deal with in that situation given their DL and DB talent

  14. 1 hour ago, Katfid54 said:

TCU had a good game plan against OSU's defense.  OSU sold out on every play to try to put pressure on Robinson.  Any plays that took longer than about a second, they were in Robinson's face.  But pretty much every play TCU ran was a super quick hitting pass, screen, etc., so Robinson was almost never holding onto the ball.  They were able to move the ball well, but when the field got constricted in the red zone, they suffered because they was so much less space to throw those timing routes.

Orlando's D is going to present a much different test.  Instead of bringing 6+ on every play, Orlando will bring 3-5 per play, counting on coverage to prevent TCU from being able to his those quick rhythm throws.  Will TCU's OL be able to hold up against our 3-5 man rush every play?  Who knows.  The OSU game tells us nothing about this.  That's the real match up of the game, in my mind.

On most of the blitzes, Robinson actually almost immediately throw a fade or go route and let his guy run under it or attempt to draw a PI. He really impressed me this game, bad turnovers notwithstanding.

I’m gonna apologize in advance because I don’t want to come off as a dumbass that keeps asking why we didn’t get Oliver 2 years ago but I haven’t been able to keep up with the board over the past few months but the last time I checked in we were all talking about Noah Cain as our top RB take, and now I see people are talking about the 5* Trey Sanders (which would be amazing) but what happened with Cain?  I see his LSU CBs have been moving up but I’d like to get a quick summary if any of you fuckers have a minute.

LSU doing well hurts us with Cain

A Brown and Glass class seems inevitable, for better or for worse
