  1. new night beats and deerhunter albums out today. night beats is pretty different from their previous stuff...it's just the guitarist now and he recorded it with nashville studio musicians.
I was actually curious what you thought of the Night Beats album. It is so different. Myself, I prefer the more raw sound of the previous albums. Reminds me of when The Black Keys switched from self producing/recording in Patrick's basement to working with Dangermouse. A little too smooth in my opinion.

  3. This is a little off topic but could be considered "unique".

I signed up for this service that hosts secret location underground house concerts in 425 cities worldwide.  You sign up, petition to get on the list and pay $15 for a ticket.  On the day of the show they text you the address.  Most shows are byob.  You never know who's playing until you get there.  My first show will be on the 16th in Portland.

  4. Saw Wavves at Revolution Hall in Portland.  This is a relatively new venue in Portland that they converted from an old high school.  Inside there are bars, restaurants and a good sized concert venue.  Really cool concept and property.  I was surprised that the show was as sparsely attended as it was with only 200-300 people in the audience.  There was plenty of space on the floor and I eventually strolled right up to the stage.

This was the last show of their tour and things went off the rails towards the end of the show.  The lead singer, Nathan, was on his second bottle of Jameson and I was able to witness the lights going out in his eyes.  He asked for someone to provide him with weed.  Which, as you might surmise, happened rather quickly.  Shortly thereafter he decided it would be a good idea to smash his guitar.

Looks like I got a new momento to go with the poster for my garage.

not my wife, but one of her friends...someone she knows got hit by a car and died...the friend posted the article from a tv station website on her facebook page and tagged (whatever that means) her deceased friend...uhmm...

I would guess that is so all of the dead person's friends will receive word that they were kilt.

I still see people on facebook writing birthday messages to dead people and it is really obvious they don't know they're dead.

  6. My wife and I separated 2 months ago so I've been listening to some sad music.  Because I'm sad.

The whole "Strange Trails" album by Lord Huron is hauntingly beautiful and melancholy so it has been the soundtrack of the separation for me.

This song, in particular, has resonated with me.

"The winning is defined at University of Houston as 10 and 2," she told faculty and staff at the annual holiday party at her home. "We'll fire coaches at 8 and 4.”

so that leaves open "nine wins", but again going into year 3 of a 5 year contract if Major is not winning 10 games in year 3 he is probably not getting a new contract and he is probably getting fires since the alternative is have him coach year 4 and hope he gets 10 or more wins (and then only has a $1.5 million plus assistants buy out) or he does not win 10 in year 4 and they fire him and owe him $650,000......or they can just fire him after year 3 and owe him $1.3 million.......so a $650,000 "risk" for them which is not a lot to pay him to go away after next year

Coaches that win ten games a year at UH don't stay at UH.

Also, I'd rather coach (and recruit Houston for leftovers) than coach at Kansas.
