  1. I'm going to dress up as the only King that I do support, Elvis. I'll also be carrying my yard sign.
  2. or Shane Gillis perhaps
  3. I'd want him to continue the parade in the rain and get obliterated by one of these.
  4. I worked as a grip on a bunch of indies that never saw the light of day. I was usually able to make my way in front of the camera when they needed an extra. Most of those projects were never released - they just ended up as reels for the director to try and line up their next job with.
  5. Ok, @Buzzrock, mea culpa. I was wrong. The Primus, Puscifer, and A Perfect Circle was fucking awesome! It started off on the wrong foot as it took over an hour to get into the property, park, and then walk a loooonnngg way to the venue. We probably missed a good 45+ minutes of music. But once we got in everything worked out. As we walked in Primus was starting "My Name is Mud" and then continued on into "Jerry was a race car driver". Then they played their new collaboration with Puscifer. This acted as a bridge. Puscifer continued with no break. They were great. I should not have ever doubted a Maynard project. After 2-3 songs they transitioned into A Perfect Circle. They continued this throughout the night. Each band would play a couple of songs and then transition to one of the other bands. The stage was set up with giant staircases on each side leading about 15'-20' up to a riser that had all three drum kits for the assorted bands. When they moved on to a different band the musicians that weren't playing just hung out on the staircase or on the side of the stage, chilling, partying, even playing table tennis. They were having a great time and would just float back onto the stage and perform. The sound guy was the tits. It sounded crisp, clear, and loud back in the grassy area where we were (cheap seats). The bass rocked the whole environment without overpowering the rest of the band. Good job sound guy! There were several jams in which all 3 drummers were playing and it was fucking awesome. Primus' new drummer is really good. Sounded amazing. My only complaint, other than the parking clusterfuck, would just be my hate of going to concerts at such large venues. I hate paying so much for tickets and then essentially watching the video screens because I can't see the band. I suppose I could shell out a lot more money to sit up front but that runs counter to my credo. I like good music at small venues where I can tap into the energy of the band and crowd. Sitting on a hillside is such a downer. Also, fuck LiveNation. $28 cocktails. Go fuck yourself.
  6. A lot of it just sounds the same to me. I've seen them a couple of times with friends that love them but I've never really gotten into them.
  7. I'm scheduled to climb Mt Etna in July so this is not ideal.
  8. $20 is basically one cocktail or two beers + tip at a venue. My drinks are much better priced - byob.
  9. Friday night is Puscifer, Primus, and A Perfect Circle at an outdoor amphitheater here in Vancouver, WA. I like A Perfect Circle. I get tired of Primus after 3 songs and I can't seem to get into Puscifer even though Maynard is fronting. Maybe they put on a good live show. Fingers crossed. GF loves Maynard so we're going. I think I'll take some edibles.
  10. My immediate neighbor knows that he doesn't have to pay but he usually drops a little something in the tip jar. In actuality, some of the other neighbors have gatherings in their backyard and listen to the music from there. Usually, someone will show up with a little cash and then head back over to their party. I appreciate the gesture but wished they would just gather at my house and fill the backyard.
  11. spoiler alert
  12. It's more of a suggested donation. I had people coming out last year and paying $20 for 5 people or not at all. And these were friends. So I'm putting out an expectation of payment for the artists.
  13. oof. I would change my name. Something a little less nazi like.
  14. Also, if any of you muledicks happen to find yourself in the Portland area reach out and come to a show. I'll make you a margarita.
  15. Here's the show poster I made for him.
  16. My second show of the summer will be Branson Anderson on July 19th. I discovered his stuff in 2023 when I first built the stage. He was just starting out but I could see he was very talented. He put on a great show at my house and has gone on to bigger and better things. I was really happy when he reached out a couple of months ago to see if he could play again. Yes, please!
  17. The first date is coming up fast and I'm getting pretty excited. Setting up the yard/ house and barage is fun. The anxious part is trying to wrangle people in the door. I post stuff on fb & instagram, text people individually, and put up the posters I create but I never know who or how many people are actually going to show up - that is the stress inducing part. I want a good crowd for the musician's ego and bank account. My ego too, if I'm being honest.
  18. Hearing him use his last breaths to deny being a pedo was sad. That whole situation was bullshit. Great documentary. I was unaware of his early life and appreciate that he finally let us in. And as @Deej mentioned - Elvira is lookin good. Yes please!
  19. I'm not holding my breath. I must say that the dude playing bass for them sounded great. Everything was stellar except Bernard's energy and voice.
  20. I was in Cali for the weekend to see the Cruel World Festival in Pasadena. Rolled in just as She Past Away was finishing their set - which sounded really good. Next up was Nation of Language. This is one of my gf's favorite bands and they didn't disappoint. They sounded great and the very attractive keyboard player was wearing a see through skirt - which absolutely made the keys sound better. It's science. She Wants Revenge killed it and their new music sounded great - heavier guitar work than their previous stuff. Should be coming out later this year. First album in 13 years. As they were finishing up their set I could hear the intro to Stranger by Clan of Xymox starting on the next stage so we hauled ass over. I wanted to hear 3 songs from Xymox and they played all of them. Stranger, Louise, and A Day. It started raining while we were watching Alison Moyet so we headed towards the Wax Trax DJ Tent. I felt like I was back at Numbers during the late 80's/early 90's. Awesome industrial music and a packed dance floor. We were peaking and this was absolutely the right place to be. Checked out 'Til Tuesday - their first performance in 35 years. Aimee Mann looked fucking phenomenal - sexy af. Death Cult was next. This is just an earlier iteration of The Cult. I was hoping they would just play a lot of Cult stuff. Ian Asbury still sounds great but we weren't vibing with the deep cuts and started making our way to the next stage for DEVO. As we made our way out of the crowd they finished with She Sells Sanctuary which was awesome. DEVO DEVO DEVO Fucking killed it. @tbone_ you'll be happy to know that both my gf and I were rocking our DEVO gear. Mark Mothersbaugh sounded fucking great. He just turned 75 and killed it. So much fun! OMD was amazing and put on a great show. We got in close to see the Go Go's. It was loud af. This was the loudest show of the day. Belinda Carlisle looked like skeletor and really struggled singing. The rest of the band sounded fucking awesome. They were at their best when everyone was singing. We split a little early to make our way to the mainstage to see New Order and heard the Go Go's finish up with Our Lips Are Sealed and We Got The Beat. Sounded good from far away. I have never seen New Order so I was excited to see them. Their setlist was fantastic - Transmission (Joy Division), Age of Consent, Isolation (Joy Division), Regret, State of the Nation, Sub-Culture, Bizarre Love Triangle, Plastic, True Faith, Blue Monday, Temptation, and Love Will Tear Us Apart as an encore. They had a killer laser light show. The only problem was that Bernard seemed like he was sick. No energy. Couldn't sing - was running out of breath. It didn't help that he was dressed up like a grampa. He and OG keyboardist, Gillian Gilbert, played together by the keyboards and it looked like Granny and Gramps playing holiday tunes. I would like to see them again but it would be better if Peter Hook rejoined the band. The festival was awesome and we're already planning to go back again next year. Our gameplan of taking drugs and avoiding $20 beers and $30 rice bowls was right on. My friends that drank and ate spent like $300. Fuck that.
  21. I wanted to name my dog Oprah but was challenged with the "yell that name out at the park" game and acquiesced. Settled on Olive. She was definitely an Olive. She's my avatar and has been gone for 6 years now.
  22. Wait, I thought there were no thots in Austin.
  23. I'm curious about who the prospects were.
