  1. I saw them in Portland a couple of weeks ago. It was fucking awesome.
  2. Sextile 9/13 Viagra Boy (w/ Die Spitz) 9/14 Tim Perry (of Ages & Ages) 9/20 on my backyard stage Nation of Language 10/11 DEVO & B52's 11/2 - going back to my real hometown of The Woodlands to see them. Pixel Grip 11/4 Wine Lips 11/7 Tame Impala - I tried to get tickets to the Austin show but there were 57,000+ people ahead of me in the queue so I bailed and got a ticket for Los Angeles. Gonna fly in, see the show, and fly out at 7am. No sleep motherfuckers!!
  3. Next saturday 9/20 is my last show of the season as it starts to get cold and wet around here soonthereafter. Tim Perry is the man behind one of my favorite Portland bands, Ages & Ages. When I reached out to him to play on my little backyard stage I never ever thought he would say yes so I am beyond thrilled to host him.
  4. The Leo Moon Trio played Saturday night. Atmospheric soul crushing existential folk would probably be the best description. I dug it. Their song "Gulf of America" was a highlight for me. They also played a couple of covers (Girls Just Want To Have Fun and Harvest Moon) that were an interesting take on the original. Lead singer, Brian, was in Blitzen Trapper and Dead Lee. Great voice and lyrics. Plays acoustic guitar. Kate was on violin Fred on lap steel.
  5. Maybe we can entice him to stick around by signing his brother to the basketball team...
  6. Anything by Lord Huron really but this one always gets me. This one from Spoon always hits me in the feels as well.
  7. Saw Thee Osees last night. Loud AF and hot as hell. It was awesome! Really happy to hear their older stuff like Toe Cutter, Chem-Farmer/Night Expo, The Dream, etc. I haven't really been digging their most recent album and much prefer their older groovier stuff.
  8. Sweet! That'll be fun. They've been touring with a lot of really good bands. Happy for them.
  9. September shows so far: Wed 9/3: The Osees @ Star Theater Sat 9/6: The Leo Moon Trio in The Backyard at the Barage (my house) Sun 9/14: Viagra Boys @ McMenamin's Grand Lodge Sat 9/20: Tim Perry in the Backyard at the Barage
  10. I don't know if you are aware of this but GA-20 is pretty much a different band these days. The lead singer (Pat) and drummer (Tim) left to form Canyon Lights. The guitarist for GA-20 kept the name and brought on new members. I think the new guy's voice is a definite step down from Pat Faherty's and his hair is like 10 steps down.
  11. Took Willow out for a nice hike this weekend. She is the best adventure dog.
  12. I have a spreadsheet on google sheets
  13. WTF? Why is he wasting those pills on children? Give them to me. I'm going to a late 80's darkwave dance party tomorrow night. I could use some MDMA. Joking aside, fuck that guy. What a POS! Way to lose your family you shitbag.

True... @jimmyjazz do you still have Britt's number? Maybe I'll see if he's free this friday.
  17. She was really cool. After the show when she was counting up the money she asked me what my cut was. When I responded "nothing, it's all for you" her eyes welled up with tears. She's been touring and living out of her van for the last two months. I don't know how much money she made but it was probably somewhere around $700. Paydays like that really help her to continue playing music. That's why I do it. I look at it like this - a city is cool or desirable to live in due to art, food, and music. The people that create all of those things are also the ones living closest to the edge. I'm doing what I can to help out the music part.
  18. I have one more gig scheduled for 9/20 and that'll wrap up my summer. It'll start getting colder and wet soon thereafter. I'm really excited to be hosting Tim Perry (Ages & Ages) with Mira Stanley (The Sea The Sea) for my last show of the year. It'll be stellar. Thanks for the suggestion. I know a lot of people that know Charlie. Perhaps next year. This video is Mira and Tim playing together.
  19. The Leo Moon Trio will be playing in in the Backyard at the Barage on Saturday September 6th. The trio is fronted by Brian Adrian Koch formerly of Blitzen Trapper. Should be a great show.

Pixies and Spoon are playing in Portland this weekend and I am seriously considering going but $94 tickets are a bit steep for me. I'll keep watching stub hub.
  21. Hell yeah! It's good for the soul!
  22. Yesterday was the hottest day of the year at 103. Typically it is 78ish. It was fucking hot as I was setting up the PA and prepping for the show. I kept thinking, "I thought I moved out of Texas". Once the sun dropped it was really nice - perfect for a backyard show and margarita. Hannah slayed and it was an awesome experience.
  23. Saw it on Tuesday night and thought it was great. I'll be flying into HTown on Halloween to see DEVO and the B-52's in the Woodlands on 11/2. There will be 4 or 5 of us in our jumpsuits and power domes. Here's a pic of me this past weekend at a music fest in the woods on the Oregon coast (Yachats) rocking the dome. Always a party when you're wearing one of these.
  24. Anybody have a good not so legal streamer for the games?
