  1. Eventually the protests will die down but I'd say the protesters have "won" in that 1) Chauvin was arrested/charged, 2) the other three cops were charged (although taking 9 fucking days is shameful), 3) enhanced charges for Chauvin, 4) Louisville is severely curtailing no-knock warrants, and 5) many elected officials have found religion. It's up to the protesters to follow though in state/local elections and to hold them accountable.

I think that is a major problem.  And the propagation is not limited to our global enemies.  I should have checked who that guy was before I posted his report.  He had a blue check, so I was giving it more credence than probably I should have.

Well there was also the issue that the claims made in the tweet were so preposterous that it should have merited some google/news confirmation.

I think she was referring to the looting, rioting, and anarchy outside her doorstep, not the protests in general.

Yeah my comment was responding to multiple posts up thread. She's got some really good ideas for what's "in the best interest of the protest." And coincidentally all of them align with her own self interest (win/win). Maybe if they can get organized within the boundaries of the curfew, they can put together a slide deck of best practices for the next round of spontaneous, once-in-a-generation civic unrest 30 years from now.

My issue with the looting isn't because I've heard the media talk about it (tonight was the first time I watched anything, and it was pretty even toned). I was constantly awakened by sirens and phone alerts when shit was going down near me, until I finally gave it up and got up at 5.

Further, I detest theft and vandalism. I always have. Been victim to it too many times, so it leaves a real bad taste in my mouth. This especially does because this is my neighborhood, and it is frustrating.

Oh, so you have work hours like me. emoji3.png

Awareness is fine, but change has to come. Awareness is not enough anymore.

Anything else the protesters can do to make this more convenient for you?

Nah. What the police did was absolutely wrong. There needs to be change.

Courageous stance. Perhaps if there had been any change the last 5-6 times stuff like this was caught on video the rioting could have been avoided.

I haven't seen Eric Johnson in weeks! I find that extremely odd.

You said it yourself he's the ultimate empty suit. He's got nothing of substance to say and I appreciate that self awareness and that he doesn't love to bloviate in front of a camera like Rawlings while deferring leadership of both crises during his tenure to Jenkins and Brown.

The goal is to win now, though. Dalton is leading this team nowhere if he had to play the whole season. Can he tread water? Sure. But they didn't making staff changes and had the offseason they had to tread water. Dak still holds the leverage if they want to win now. Both sides know this. There is no doubt a deal will get done.

Dak is under team control for two more seasons whether they get a deal done or not. And do you really think they're going to get a deal done right now? When they're not certain they will play the whole season and the medium term cap ramifications of the sharp decrease in revenue?

For the record, I still think Dak is a mediocre starting QB, but I feel like some of you think that’s more of a knock on Dak than i do. It isn’t easy to find someone who is universally regarded as one of the 15 or so best QBs on the planet. It’s more about consistency. That’s what separates guys like Jimmy G from guys like Watson. Jimmy G can look like a top 5 qb on the road in New Orleans in what was arguably the most important regular season game for the NFC playoff picture, and then he can turn around and look like 2nd half of the super bowl jimmy g. That’s what Dak is to me. AND THERES NOTHING WRONG WITH THAT. You just don’t let guys like that strong arm you into making them the highest paid player in the league. I don’t care what history says. That’s all I’m saying.

And I would hope that a handful of posters will dispense with the philosophy of consequence free contract decisions because the cap "always goes up." Bad contract economics do matter. Just look at the Rams and the Jaguars.

I don't disagree that doing your due diligence is in the best interest of the company. However, the corporate HR lady's reaction seemed like a genuine "I can't believe you did that. You aren't allowed to do that per corporate policy" reaction instead of her just saying it to cover her ass.

Corporate HR "VP" in a large multinational company has forfeited their ability to think. They are strictly slaves to policy and process. I would have ignored her if I was making the hire and I sure as hell wouldn't let HR make a hiring decision.

That's not true at all.  There would absolutely be a market for him, it's ridiculous to think otherwise.  It may not be the market that thinks he's worth 35 mil or whatever, but to say there "isn't a market for him at all" is kind of a crazy take. Like someone wouldn't even trade a 3rd rounder for him or something.

Yes I'm sure teams are lining up to part with their draft capital in the next 5 days to acquire an unhappy QB playing under the tag who wants to reset the market amidst the backdrop of a pandemic which has put the 2020 NFL season at risk and all but assured that the 2021 salary cap will go down, rather than up. Teams generally love to do business like that with an uncertain economic model over the next few years.

  11. Danny is out of his element right now. His best contributions to the show are in period comic relief, fun facts that'll take two seconds, early 80s small town hair metal angst, and a couple of halfcourt 3 pointers per show. He was at his best as a driveby contributor with an easy target like idiosyncratic sexagenarian Mike. Bob will provide plenty of similar opportunities for Danny down the road but they've got to get to know one another on air more. But Bob is going to expect more out of him than Mike did behind the scenes.
