  1. Outside the Johnny Manziel year and the Covid year, they haven't finished better than 3rd in the SEC West. Frequently worse. Basically the same as they were finishing in the Big 12 South.
  2. That's what lots of reliable sources have said, but the Big 12 keeps making more. So, I'm still skeptical about the reliable sources. And this is people like the Athletic saying the ACC TV deal was bigger. Show me the money!!!! Then I will believe the ACC deal is bigger.
  3. I agree with you. I think you misinterpreted what some of the others said. They were challenging the idea that the Big 10 had decided to invite Missouri.
  4. https://www.latimes.com/sports/usc/story/2023-05-18/national-labor-relations-board-complaint-usc-pac-12 Its on. They knew this was coming, but NLRB files a formal complaint about athletes being employees. They claim USC, the Pac 12 and NCAA are joint employers. The part about being joint employers sounds pretty asinine. Maybe an effort to get at deep pockets.
  5. Tom Osborne, bitter about 1-8 whined. The Nebraska president said they were further along on their network than UT was. Anybody saying the LHN had anything to do with NU leaving probably has a Greg Swaim T-shirt that they are wearing right now. And they are probably secretly aggy fans.
  6. Jason Scheer @jasonscheer · 4h I have never said the Pac-12 is going to break up. I do think IF it signs a deal, it will be a bad one. I could be wrong. My consistent criticism is that it has been handled poorly behind closed doors and in the public eye. Nothing I have seen or heard has changed that. 7 12 62 10.1K Scheer telling it like it is. (He's talking about WSU president claiming ESPN/Amazon didn't want to do a deal right after layoffs). Jason Scheer @jasonscheer · 4h He went from it slowing down because of layoffs to trying to create a narrative that it's slowing down because so many people are coming to the table. What are we doing here? Just shut up and get a deal done. Quote Tweet Jason Scheer @jasonscheer · 4h My man made sure to change that narrative real quick when ESPN signed Pat for a billion dollars https://247sports.com/college/washington-state/article/exclusive-wsu-president-kirk-schulz-eyes-pac-12-media-rights-dea-210309015/
  7. Jason Scheer @jasonscheer · 7m Shoutout to Dave Heeke for being honest here
  8. https://richmond.com/sports/college/teel-babcock-says-vt-moving-forward-with-acc-but-has-explored-potential-options/article_81175fea-f416-11ed-b385-d3c7ffcc2fc4.html Interesting interview with VT AD. "...Babcock confirmed that he and colleagues from the six other schools McMurphy mentioned have discussed possible options. “I would classify it as a number of conversations,” Babcock told The Times-Dispatch, “usually in small groups, on interpretations of grant of rights, of bylaws of the league, of options that may be out there. But as you know, the grant of rights has been looked at a lot of times by a lot of people.” Virginia AD Carla Williams politely declined an interview request, joking that “Whit speaks for both us.” Babcock said the conversations weren’t as organized as many interpreted Monday and that several included subsets of the seven. Topics included not only the grant of rights, but also ACC bylaws to ascertain what is required to change the revenue-sharing formula — at least 10 of 15 presidents must approve...."
  9. Sounds great. My top 3 parks are Rocky Mnt., Yellowstone, then Glacier. Research in case you haven't already. In many parks (Rocky Mnt., Glacier and Arches to name 3 I'm sure of), you have to have reservations to get in during normal hours. Pretty much impossible if you don't plan 6 months in advance. They do allow people in early in the morning and later at night. A couple years ago we went to Glacier and had to enter before 6 am. After leaving we tried to go into one of the remote entrances on the other side that didn't require reservations, but they had closed it temporarily because they didn't have enough parking.
  10. Wilner seems convinced. Just doesn't believe its happening now.
  11. A side note--of the top 63, 58 are P5, 3 are future P5, 2 are military academies. The other 8 current and future P5: 67 Colorado 70 BC 71 Arizona St. 76 Virginia Tech (surprise) 78 Houston 79 Virginia 91 Duke Vanderbilt I didn't see listed.
  12. As tough as Nebraska has had it, they were still #19 in that Sic-em TV analysis. They're a big name. If they were winning, they would have been higher. That put them ahead of USC and behind only 5 Big 10 schools (UM, tOSU, PSU, WI, MSU). They were a plus to Tier I.
  13. https://virginiatech.sportswar.com/wp-content/uploads/sites/15/2022/08/2020-21-ACC-Manual-2020-9-17-2.pdf ACC manual. Key parts; "...Each Director shall be entitled to one vote each. Except as otherwise provided herein or in the Bylaws, if a quorum is present when a vote of the Directors is taken, the affirmative vote of a majority of all Directors present for such vote shall be an act of the Board. For the avoidance of doubt, all references in this Constitution or the Bylaws to the affirmative vote of: (a) a majority or two-thirds (2/3) of all “Directors present”, shall mean a majority or two-thirds (2/3) of all the Directors who are present at a Board meeting at which a quorum exists; (b) two-thirds (2/3) of all the Directors, shall mean two-thirds (2/3) of all the Directors of the Board, even if one or more of such Directors is not present for such vote (“Absolute Two-Thirds Matters”); and (c) three-fourths (3/4) of all the Directors, shall mean three-fourths (3/4) of all the Directors of the Board, even if one or more of such Directors is not present for such vote (“Absolute Three-Fourths Matters”). The Absolute Two-Thirds Matters are as follows: (i) any amendment to Article 2.5 of the Bylaws (Finances), (ii) selecting or changing the location of the Conference office, (iii) entering into or amending any Material Media Rights Agreement (as defined in Section 2.3.1(q)), (iv) the appointment, extension of the term, or removal of the Commissioner or the other matters set forth in Section 1.5.2.1.1, and (v) the initiation of any material litigation involving the Conference (but not, for clarity, the settlement of any 22 2020-21 ACC MANUAL ACC | CONSTITUTION litigation involving the Conference, which requires the affirmative vote of a majority of all Directors present for such vote). The Absolute Three-Fourths Matters are as follows: (i) the admission of new Members to the Conference pursuant to Section 1.4.3, (ii) the expulsion, suspension or probation of a Member pursuant to Section 1.4.4, (iii) any amendment of this Constitution, (iv) any amendment of the Bylaws (except amendments to Article 2.5), and (v) waiver of notice or other required process for a Board meeting pursuant to Section 1.5.1.5..."
  14. I think that is a state law, but I doubt it supersedes conference by-laws. As I recall, they need 75% for major changes.
  15. FWIW (which is not much), a Washington fan site, RealDawgs, is claiming the Washington/Oregon Big 10 invite is coming around Memorial Day. If it happens, I guess that guy gets his Flugaur moment in the LA Times.
  16. I mostly agree with you. The problem isn't so much the mid-majors, its the bottom 10 conferences. I have no interest in the 1-16 and 2-15 games. 3-14 are usually pretty one sided as well. FIU barely even qualifies as a mid-major (or was it FAU-I can't even tell you a month later). And the other two schools weren't basketball brands. In 1983 North Carolina St. was a Cinderella. It was all relative. The tourney was just fine back in 1983 were 250-270 schools. Now there are 364 in Division I. They need a breakaway in basketball more than in football. In football they just need to quit incentivizing CUSA and Sun Belt picking up FCS schools. There are only a half dozen FCS schools that have the size and potential base to do better than average G5. And a half dozen more that are small but with good traditions who might have some good seasons (Dakotas, Montanas). But we don't need more Wyomings. And most of the schools added are Sam Houstons and Jacksonville St.s that have no business in FBS.
  17. And that extra hour of Milwaukee vs. Seattle adds up. After a certain point, if any of you have flown much, it starts to get wearing. It also makes it more difficult to get back or leave at a reasonable hour.
  18. Stanford and Cal will go indie before staying in a conference that is majority MWC. Oregon St. and Washington St. don't have the leverage to dictate terms to MWC schools. If 2 schools join the Big 12 and Oregon and Washington join the Big 10, Pac is dead. At least 2 more will join the Big 12. Stanford and Cal will join the Big 12, ACC or go indie with other sports in the Big West. Oregon St. and Washington St. will join the Big 12 or the MWC.
  19. Brett McMurphy on 365. Talks about Big 10 schedules, then Pac 10 media deal. Summary on Pac 10-things aren't looking good, but Big 10 seems to want someone else to leave before going after UW and Oregon.
  20. They already dropped that rule. They are supposed to be going over the alternatives in their mid-May meetings.
  21. Nah. Just scared ADs and coaches wanting to keep their jobs by playing weaker opponents, while shafting the fans.
  22. Its a play on OU and UT OUT of the Big 12. Soon to happen.
  23. We've accepted that getting 5 stars is rare for anybody but the top powers and the SEC. So its a stupid article.
  24. You didn't pay attention to my numbers. SEC got 20 of the 32 last year. You've only got a few outside the powers and SEC. nBig12 is on a par with the nPac10 and the ACC other than FSU, Clemson and Miami. Maybe Mack will pick up one occasionally.
  25. The pattern is pretty much the same. The top programs get the 5 stars. Purdue, Washington St., North Carolina St., Kentucky and Oklahoma St. don't. So its a stupid article.
