Washington Mod from 247 started a topic and has commented in others about Sark:

    • I dealt with Steve a lot while he was at Washington. First thing to know is he is incredibly bright. He learned a lot at Washington and fought some demons. He's a bright, articulate, charming, engaging guy who is also competitive as hell. He's appeared to put his demons behind him. You're going to love Sark. It will be interesting to see who he fills his staff with. Knowing the competitive nature of Sark, I'm sure he negotiated a large assistant salary pool. If he gets Tosh Lupoi on staff, watch out. Tosh is one of the best recruiters I've ever dealt with. He's currently with Atlanta. He's an outstanding recruiter and phenomenal working with QB's. He trusts his guys and has an edge. Guys love playing for him. Texas didn't hit a home run with Sark. They hit a grand slam.

    • Not sure you have a grasp on how good of a recruiter he is. Relentless and ruthless. He'll win the press conference, the team, and current recruits. He's good.

    • He did a pretty good job at UW. He took over an 0-12 program which was bad. Really bad. He changed the culture quickly and had the kids beleiviong in temselves. He hired Nick Holt as his DC, which didn't work at all. He let him go and hired Justin Wilcox, which was a home run. Won seven games his last two years, but recruited very, very well. was set up with a great roster once he purged all Tyrone's guys and improved the talent.

    • The Washington team that made CFP was mostl;y led by guys Sark brought in. Didn't mean to upset anybody, just thought I'd add my two cents on the hire since I dealt with him quite a bit at UW. Most Washington fans are happy for him because they understand the situation. Texas gained a lot of fans from the fine state of Washington today.Good luck

    • If I'm a Texas fan, I'm excited and intrigued. Especially interested in the staff he assembles. With stops at Washington, USC, Atlanta, and Alabama, I'm sure he's learned a lot. Sark isn't a rockhead. He's a very, very bright guy.

    • Tosh is in Atlanta and they will be hiring a new coach. Word from a source close to him is he would prefer to stay in the NFL. If he doesn't land an NFL gig, he could join Sark.

What a profound piece of insight

Mike "Ear to the street" Roach

I'll never get over how clueless he was about Milroe's imminent decommitment when every member of this board had already figured it out. And then Milroe announced a half hour later.

I’m not saying Sark is my choice, but look at what he did at Washington. Complete turnaround project.  He also made lemonade out of the post Reggie Bush lemons at USC. They were crippled with sanctions.  It’s extremely simple to look at that win/loss record without context.

We've been justifying various hires like this for 7 years now.

I'm not trying to be a snob, but using Post Malone as evidence that "Dallas runs the rap game" is laughable.

Who the hell will not develop our linemen if Hand leaves?

Also, wtf on our Oline coaches through the years.

Herb Hand - tons of praise coming in, fell flat on his face with recruiting

    Derek Warehime - no comment

Matt Mattox - Currently the Oline coach of UTSA - who knows might turn out with Traylor

Joe Wickline - Another well thought of coach that mostly flamed out.

To be fair, there was plenty of warning about Hand's coaching ability from Auburn and Penn State fans when we hired him, although his recruiting failures are certainly a surprise.

That Beck guy sounds legit - wonder if he'd consider being our next HC?

Beck honestly seems like he would be a great head coach if he took the CEO approach and didn't touch the offense.

So your administration is so shitty they're going to torpedo their coach that just went 6-3 and has a 25 million total buyout because they don't like his personality and because he didn't force his players to stand for a song?

From a humble Brit on the outside looking in on this fiasco... If you want to know why your program is mediocre despite having all sorts of money? This type of horrific mismanagement is the reason why. The number of reporters I've seen quoted here sabotaging the coaches with leaks, propaganda, and probably some lies is insane. It's worse than Chelsea, Real Madrid, Barcelona, or ManU. Hell it's worse than the Cowboys. And in a business where you have to recruit your talent instead of select it that's extremely problematic.

Good god, it has fucking nothing to do with the media. Yes, $9.95ers make the job slightly more annoying, but Herman's job status is in question because he fucking sucks at coaching, not because of our crusty old donors and people like Geoff Ketchum.

You're right - 8 wins is way too optimistic with a RS freshman in Card or Casey Thompson at QB.  Conversely - maybe Bijan actually starts and gets starters carries? Nope.  Bijan likely sits while Roschon or a grad transfer start the season and take his carries.

But you know who it's not too optimistic for? Ja'Quinden Jackson.

  11. Fucking /r/Longhornnation on Reddit is full of people advocating for keeping Tom right now. Feel like I'm in a fucking parallel universe when I step over there. I mean, what the fuck? I know the Plan B options aren't thrilling but these people must not be watching the same team I've watched the past 4 seasons.

The Urban Meyer chronicles have occupied the minds of Texas fans for weeks now, especially following the loss to Iowa State. There have been percentages and guesstimations about confidence levels ranging all over the place, some favorable, some not. Our Super K has reported he believes it to be around 40%. However, I want to focus on the perplexing situation Texas may find itself in if Urban Meyer does in fact decline the offer to be the next coach at The University of Texas.

A source close to upper administration at UT shared with me some concerns about other coaching options and their potential view on the Texas job should the Longhorns be forced to expand their search.

The source started off saying they do not believe the University has done a good job handling the situation. Shocking right? In addition, they stated that by Texas putting all of their eggs in the Urban Meyer basket, it was setting Texas up for failure if Meyer said no.

While Texas is still a very attractive college football coaching job, the Longhorns will have to combat potential coaching hires knowing they were second options and/or back-up plans.

There was a vote of confidence in Athletic Director Chris Del Conte mentioned by the source. However, the publicity of the Urban coaching search has not been met with much approval, specifically with Meyer being able to essentially pick his price.

While I believe the chance of Urban pursuing the Texas HC position with faux interest as minute, that topic has been discussed according to the source.

If Texas were to miss on Urban, the source indicated that Florida HC Dan Mullen would be under serious consideration to be the next head coach at Texas. Currently, Mullen is 7–1 right now and has Florida ranked sixth in the country.

With all this said, the source concluded with Texas landing Urban at a 60-40 confidence scale

Does this mean we can go back to talking about burgers?

Joel Klatt was on Cowherd just now and they talked about Texas and how they want to replace Tom. No mention or references to Urban. Whatever is happening, nobody is saying shit.

All the 9.95ers are throwing shit out there, everyone wants to be the first to say it either happened or didn't.

What were you expecting to happen? Klatt wasn't going to come out and say "Hint hint, one of my esteemed coworkers may be wearing burnt orange soon!"
