I gotta be honest. I'm hardly following recruiting any more. I'm just assuming that we're getting 90%-ish of the top targets and then they are going to backfill any roster misses through the portal.

It's great being the Joneses and all, and lord knows that we took it in the ass from Ohio State, Georgia, Bama, LSU etc. for far too many years and it feels good to turn the tables on those fuckers... but the ins and outs of recruiting isn't all that interesting to me any longer. Is that just me?

I feel the exact same. I can hardly be bothered to learn the names of individual recruits at this point, and that's fine by me honestly.

What's it look like so far post-Combine?

    First: Banks, Barron, Golden

    Second-Third: Bond, Sorrell

    Third-Fourth: Ewers, Collins, Williams

    Fourth-Fifth: Blue, Mukuba, Helm

    Fifth-Sixth: Helm

    Sixth-Seventh-UDFA: Majors, Broughton

    UDFA: Connor, Norton

Quinn's going late first, book it

Unofficial 4.93 for Helm on his first run

How did that happen? He never looked particularly slow in-game to me but that's a truly awful time

Someone talk me off the ledge. Semms underwhelming, but that may be because I wanted Mickens. How well does he recruit and deceloo😌? Rutgers meh

If you're on the ledge over a DB coach hire when Sark has basically nailed every assistant hire he's made, then that's your own fault.

What this thread has been missing is two pages of pointless Monday morning quarterbacking about a guy that we liked but didn't love having a couple good games.

People love to wax poetic about about any Westlake player that ended up going somewhere other than Texas.

Do guys have NDAs when they come on board? Kinda bs that ATM could now get literally the entire offensive playbook from Amari

Teams change up their calls and signs every year, and by the time we play A&M every year, there's plenty of tape on basically everything we run in a given season. Comes down to game planning and execution at that point.

Sark has also received a ton of credit for rebuilding the roster to the level of a top team. But its hard to parse how much of that should go to the timing of NIL

No one has managed roster turnover better in the NIL/portal era than Sark. You can count on one hand the number of players we've lost to the portal that would even be considered a moderate loss. Who knows what his rosters look like if NIL/the portal never became a thing, but I think it's fair to say he's the right guy at the right time for this era of CFB.

It’s also one play when looking at it through the scheme of NFL. Fucking painful for us. Not sure if Quinn was just getting ball out quick but that ugly motherfucker had a quiet night before that play.

The Cowboys drafted that scrub Guyton in the first. Good chance Williams will be drafted high (1/2 round) if he declares.

OT is also probably at its highest premium in the NFL in recent memory. The lack of high end tackle talent is a known issue around the league.

A big running back won’t solve the goal line issues if the O line allows penetration. For all the talk of our awesome offensive line, they haven’t been dominant this year. We have to be able to move people when we’re at the 1.

Story of the season right here. For all the time that's been spent over-analyzing every dropback and hitch Quinn has taken this season, you just aren't going to win games against elite teams if you can't run up the middle (most of our pass protection breakdowns also came right through the middle). More elite skill position talent is just gravy at that point.

With Becks surgery, very low probability he plays anywhere next year.  Baseball players take a long time to recover, and they don't have 250 lb missiles trying to rip the arms out of the sockets.

I know NFL GM are amongst the biggest kool-aid drinking, dumb asses on the planet, but drafting an injured QB that had already had question marks seems like this is one you don't touch.

Given that reality, transferring to some desperate program for some guaranteed NIL and a chance to rehab in a normal time frame seems like the move.

Didn't Purdy basically have the same thing? He was back for the Niners the following season. Pitchers put much more stress on their elbow than quarterbacks do.
