If we are able to beat Tech with Card at quarterback I will be both surprised and impressed.

    I just don’t see it.

Then again, I questioned Ewers before the OU game so I’m kinda that guy.

To be fair, the game plan last week didn't really do him any favors. I'm not necessarily holding my breath, but for my own sanity I'm assuming that he'll do better if Sark chooses to build the game plan around him and ramp him up with more easy completions instead of just having him air it out deep a few times with no previous rhythm.

Yeah, if Card starts there's no reason at all to believe that 4-6 week Ewers report that originated from Fat Ketch.

To be fair, the 4-6 week number originally came from Pete Thamel, who was the Ewers' family's mouthpiece during his transfer recruitment. That said, I don't know what to believe.

For the recrutniks on the site, is Malik in the QB mold of the 18wheeler or more of a slasher?

I know he’s got great measurables , size etc..but does he have the “wiggle” of leaner , tall QB or more of a  Blake Bell , Tyrone swooped type runner?

I'll let others correct me if I'm wrong, but everything I've seen makes me think he's much more of the freight train, build momentum in a straight line kind of guy.

I mean... you could see all of this on the pitch. What is there to not believe?

I suppose I'm not doubting the credibility of the reporting, but I'm skeptical of the extent that he had truly lost the locker room and how much that actually contributed to his downfall.

It seems like Tuchel stopped giving a shit and that his and his boss' relationships hit rock bottom. That and his shit drove many players to want to leave.

Tuchel did not initiate a single conversation with one first-team player for more than a year, offering no guidance on how the player could get back into his team whenever they fell out of the starting XI. Others who found themselves on the bench or left out of matchday squads entirely for stretches felt they were left similarly isolated, rather than being given advice on how to improve their situations.

The Athletic first reported in January that several of Chelsea’s attackers were beginning to consider leaving the club at the end of the 2021-22 season as a result of how Tuchel used and treated them, and Romelu Lukaku, Timo Werner, Hakim Ziyech, Christian Pulisic and Callum Hudson-Odoi all went into the summer deeply unhappy with their situations. This level of discord presented unwelcome complications for Boehly and Clearlake, who already knew significant spending would be required to re-stock the squad’s heavily depleted defensive options.

Lukaku was allowed to rejoin Inter on loan terms highly favourable to the Serie A club but some close to the Belgian believe he would have been far more open to staying at Chelsea if he had known Tuchel would be leaving.

A lot of this sounds like the same generic shit that comes out about every manager that gets fired, so it's hard for me to put much stock in it. At the same time, The Athletic's reporting is usually pretty good, so Idk.

    OB practice notes

The Longhorns wrapped up the first full scrimmage of camp on Saturday morning/early afternoon.

Here are some notes collected from the OB staff from the scrimmage.

*The two biggest pieces of news from the scrimmage was a pair of injuries to running back Roschon Johnson and wide receiver Isaiah Neyor. From what was conveyed to us, Roschon was carted off of the field in what was described as a fair amount of pain, while Neyor was able to limp off under his own power. Junior Angilau was also banged up in the scrimmage at one point and went to the locker room.

    * The biggest offensive play of the day came from Bijan Robinson, who had a long 50+ yard touchdown run and then didn't see much action, if any, beyond that.

    * Once Johnson went out with an injury, freshman Jaydon Blue took the majority of the work at running back.

    * Overall, it sounds like the defense had the better day between the two sides of the ball, especially among the first-team units. Some not so nice words were used to describe the offense as a whole by multiple sources.

    * Quinn Ewers threw a pick-six early in the scrimmage and it sounds like Hudson Card did the same (D'Shawn Jamison with the honors) during red-zone work later in the scrimmage.

" One source said, "Doesn't matter what O-line they throw out there. They are getting killed. Defense winning by a mile."

    * Said another source: "Absolutely atrocious display on offense. Quinn sacked (by Vernon Broughton) to end his 2 minute drill after getting maybe 15-20 yards."

    * Another source mentioned that the quarterback play was less than inspiring. Mentioned that Maalik Murphy did not receive much playing time.

    * Among the highlights from the quarterbacks today was a touchdown pass from Hudson Card to Juan Davis and a nice deep throw from Ewers to Casey Cain.

    * Multiple sources reported that Jordan Whittington was the most impressive of the day at the wide receiver position.

The plan is to hopefully add to the notes a little later today, but this is an early glimpse at how things went

5-7 is back on the menu boys!

Sark has a difficult choice here. Does he go with the guy who barks well or the one who consistently completes passes down the field?

Seriously, has there been a single specific compliment of Card since camp started? They keep saying it's close and things like Card is "solid" with "crisp footwork", and now that he's barking. But has there been any positive news at all about his ability to throw a football?

    By: Justin, Gerry, and Eric

    Team

Thursday was effectively a 14 hour day for the coaches and players. At this pace, there are going to be some tired freshman in a week or two.

The defense probably held a slight edge over the offense after practice No. 1. On Thursday, the offense had a more clear advantage during 7 on 7 and team portions of practice No. 2.

The quarterbacks did a better job of protecting the ball, though there were still a couple interceptions. Card was “rock solid” and Ewers threw “two beautiful touchdown passes to Neyor.”

Sark’s confidence in the two quarterbacks is said to be high. That isn’t to say they’ll be great, just that he believes he can win with them.

True freshman Maalik Murphy had a solid day outside of the 15-20 minute media window.

Jordan Whittington caught a Card touchdown from the slot. While there’s some excitement about Savion Red, and of course Brenen Thompson, IT heard “Tarique Milton will play this year. He’s legit.” Slot depth was a big question entering the summer but that questions seems on pace to be answered in August. Still, stay healthy J-Whitt.

We’re unsure who threw them, but D’Shawn Jamison had his customary pick, and Diamonte Tucker-Dorsey had one as well. “Tuck” has shown the ability to find the ball in the air. If he does the same regarding ball carriers, like he did at James Madison, he’s going to win a starting job and allow Overshown to play of the Edge more.

As far as we know, Jahdae Barron is solely at Star. That’s not surprising given their preference to get better coverage ability from the position, plus they’ll be in nickel a ton. What is interesting is Michael Taaffe is second team Star. It’s sort of hard to square that with previous sentence, but maybe they have another look from the personnel package. In any event, Taaffe is a quality player, you’d just think he’s more of a field safety. (Jaylon Guilbeau is still at corner)

It’s very difficult to tell anything regarding the offensive and defensive lines when they’re not in pads, but Kelvin Banks certainly looks the part during the first two days. “He’s going to help the team this year. As a day-two freshman he’s playing like an upperclassmen.”

The team will be in half pads the next three practices before going full pads next Tuesday.

QB Summary through two days of camp:

Card: Crisp, "slightly better" footwork, "rock solid"

Ewers: Better at every throw, made "beautiful touchdown passes"

What do y'all think Card's next IT compliment will be? "Despite how fierce Ewers' mullet looks, Card's beard is much more neatly trimmed and suited to be the face of the program."
