Typical clickbaity headline, but good summary of Sark's struggles in the ASU game.

Also agree with Gerry Hamilton who hated the punt block call after ASU went three and out on first drive of game. Defense got a 3 and out, just get the fucking ball back on offense. Instead ASU extends the drive and gets their only points of the 1st half.

No one should click on this regardless of the content just because of the stupid fucking title.

I don't think they suck they just struggle against real quickness and ASU had it.

So is it just an issue with the type of player Flood targets? On paper I feel like this line should be as good or better than any line in the country. Are there lines that are able to match our size while also possessing better lateral quickness, or does Flood just like them big and strong? These are honest questions btw, hope it doesn't sound snarky.

I grew up in Houston so maybe that comes into play but Northern Wisconsin and the UP are beautiful in the summer. And there is no way that Santa Fe is hot and humid in the summer. It has a higher elevation than Denver and it is in a fucking desert.

New Mexico might have the best year round weather of any place other than southern California in the continental US.

I feel like Sark needs a veteran coach on the sideline to help with game management. Sark is one of my favorite play callers and designers of all time, but I feel like he needs someone there to say, “hey coach, kick a field goal here. It preserves momentum, gives your kicker some confidence, and means they have to do xyz”.

    Maybe a Fatterson type.

Once Broughton. Collins Norton etc all get drafted. The portal guys are gonna be begging to come here

Portal DTs will do what every portal DT has done so far and chase the biggest bag possible. But I'd like to believe donor enthusiasm will be as high as it ever has been this offseason and Sark will recognize that we don't have much choice but to enter these DT auctions that he has so far avoided.

Which had big time down field throws. Going back to USC(as OC) the offense best form is built on deep shots. Quinn can’t hit them plain and simple.

Well that's a different conversation entirely, which I agree is the biggest issue of Quinn in Sark's offense. But OP was arguing that it's his lack of rushing ability, which I don't agree with.

The biggest issue with Ewers is that he's a square peg in Sark's offense..

A large part of his offense is predicated on the zone read/RPO game, but teams have figured out that Ewers isn't a threat to run, so there's no incentive to hold the edge.  The edge or blitzer can simply crash down and either tackle the back or sack Quinn.  Hell, even if he does pull it and they've given up the edge, it's not like he's going to get very far.  I don't know what his 40 time is, but I wouldn't be shocked if there were linemen on the team with lower times.

The best version of Sark's offense ever seen on the field was led by Mac Jones at QB.

Interestingly, you almost never hear of a pro soccer player who "didnt pick up the game" of soccer until he was 15-16.  That athletic trait does seem to flow that way very often.  Maybe because the eye to foot trait has to be learned from an early age?

And before you get all get pissed for "derailing" the thread, I'm doing my part to get us to a 1000.

Athleticism isn't nearly as important to soccer as it is to football. It helps, but there are some "relatively" average athletes that are dominant soccer players because the game relies so much on skill and finesse.

With football, you simply have 0 shot of making it to the league unless you are an otherworldly physical specimen (except for QBs mainly, but modern QBs are crazy athletic too). Some NFL players are better athletes than others, but they're all ridiculous compared to your average human. The premier league on the other hand has some guys that from a pure athleticism standpoint aren't all that impressive, but still have very successful careers.
