  1. Since it needs to be repeated apparently,  massive flips basically never happen if a kid commits elsewhere the odds of Texas flipping them are slim. So people thinking that if Sark wins 10 games we are going to see tons of blue chips flip to Texas and secure a top 5 class are going extremely disappointed. The last massive flip event I can think of was UGA in 2017 but that with a SEC conference title, title game appearance, bagmen dropping off ford raptors, and Kirby showing photo's of Sabans recruiting board to make that happen. So I feel it's pretty safe to say Texas isn't going todo that.

  2. Well I can tell you guys are a bunch of geezers by the photos y'all post, which are staged models and all look to be from 15 years ago. If we are talking about how hot the student body of the school, I hate to break it to ya but Texas is upper middle tier in the SEC. Ole Miss, Auburn, Scar and Bama all got Texas beat for sure, next would be UGA, Texas, UF,  A&M, LSU. TUK with MSU, UK, arky, and OU pulling up the rear. I have never dealt with Vandy so I can't say. But 6% admission requirements have definitely had an effect on the smoke shows trying to apply to Texas.

It’s stupid and worthless. Who is the target audience for that?

    Why is it necessary?

Let the kids get paid and stop worrying about how it’s going down. No one gives a shit about the mechanics - and there won’t be any enforcement if rules are broken.

It's damage control, fans and boosters are going to start to ask why Texas players aren't getting paid like Bama, OSU, and UO players are. NIL is out in the open so we can ask what the fuck we are actually doing unlike the bag game where it was hush hush and the program would never actually speak on the subject.

You guys are naive little titty babies. NIL is not the instant solution any of you are thinking. It's about long term sustainable marketability and revenue, not short term we signed a dude for 1M for a sneaker deal shit. Some of you really have no idea how the world works, just stick to sniffing 16-18 year old jock straps. (not directed solely at jester)

You do realize that's exactly who we are trying to recruit

You are stupid. This means he's got his shit together and is doing what's right long term for the program. Rushing into NIL is a recipe for disaster.

This sounds like the NCAA is going to bust UGA, A&M, Bama any day now for paying players wish casting that has been going on for years. Because if anything has been made abundantly clear, it's that the federal government is barley able to pass any legislation at all much less in a timely manner. So no I don't think waiting on some future federal policy or legislation is a smart move and giving our recruiting adversaries possibly years head start in weaponizing NIL.

  6. Regarding NIL, Del Conte said he believes there will be federal intervention soon in the form of a narrow antitrust law. “You can have something in Oregon that’s different in Florida, that’s different in Maine, that’s different in Texas. That’s just not how we’re operating. Am I anticipating that [intervention]? Yes.”

If this is the mentality of the our AD leading the program into the SEC then we are setting ourselves up for a massive butt fucking.

OB’s latest comments re NIL and recruiting:

No. 3 - Stop with the NIL is crushing recruiting stuff...

I can tell who does and does not read this column on a regular basis almost entirely by some of the reactions this weekend to the news that Texas is...wait for it...a bit sluggish in recruiting with elite prospects at the moment.

    SHOCKING!!!!!!

    Or not.

One of the trendy talking points for those that will do anything to create talking points is to point the finger at the new boogieman of Texas football recruiting...NIL.

Understand this - Texas' lack of momentum in the 2022 recruiting class didn't start on July 1. Almost eight months have passed since Texas landed Maalik Murphy in recruiting and the program hasn't landed a player in the Rivals Top 150 since.

The reality is that it feels better to say that Kelvin Banks picked Oregon because of NIL as opposed to admitting that he might not believe in the vision and messaging of the program from the coaching staff. Or that he doesn't want to be alone in coming to Austin.

It's just the newest form of excuse-making... the kind that Aggies have embarked on for much of the last 20-25 years before Jimbo Fisher was able to change the narrative.

    No. 4 - Let's go over the non-NIL problems...

Instead of misplacing responsibility, let's take a look at the real issues facing the program as things currently stand in the 2022 class.

    1. As has been mentioned in this column countless times, elite of the elite prospects aren't giving this coaching staff the kind of first-year benefit of the doubt that Charlie Strong and Tom Herman both received.

    2. This staff can do better and finish better. Both the De'Anthony Gatson and Kelvin Banks recruitments featured miscalculations or misreadings. There's no reason to belabor the points again and again and again. The staff can be better.

    3. In the case of a few recruits around the state, there's a sense that there are briefcases full of cash in play. Of course, you know what the SEC calls recruitments that involve briefcases full of cash? They call it Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday...

I don't know what to tell you about the third point, but the first two can be controlled and addressed with quality play on the field this season and the staff doing a better job.

Or maybe people with actual pull are starting to ask questions about why Texas recruits and players are not getting massive NIL deals. And if the flood gates open then none of these players would give OB and the fat fuck the time of day, so this is just ketch protecting his investment.

The Big 12 is one of the autonomous 5 conferences so the thought of the Big12 schools joining the AAC is dumb.  Plus the AAC has some teams that aren’t good realignment candidates so adding the Big 12 schools to them doesn’t fix that.  Basically if the Big12 doesn’t get dissolved they will expand.
    Best options:

    Texas schools: Houston or SMU

Western schools: BYU or Boise St

    Florida schools: UCF or USF

    Others: Cincy or Memphis

Tulane is a small private school in a good market with great academics but can’t complete in this new age of college football with a 30k seat stadium.  The Big12 needs more WVU’s and less Baylor/TCU’s.

Tulsa is very similar to Tulane, but remove the great academics and good market (#3 in Oklahoma < #2 in Louisiana) plus they are REALLY small with only 3k enrollment.

East Carolina is competing for 5th place in North Carolina and is losing that battle to Appalachian State and Charlotte little by little.

Temple just doesn’t move the needle.  Philly is a pro town, they won’t drive TV money.

I don't think the A5 thing is going to matter soon, the NCAA is calling a constitutional convention and appears to be waving the white flag as a regulatory body.

If by successfully delaying Texas and OU leaving in 2022 to 2023 for a place like KST it is an extra 25m at a minimum they are not getting in any other way.

They can’t delay Texas and OU moving. They can only sue for the damages that’s it. The Big12 can not force OU or Texas to remain in the conference at all.

If we’re going divisions, it means we rarely play the East teams. You’re basically in a 8 team conference. Not a fan, but whatever. It will be fun to play Aggy, Arkansas, OU, Ole Miss, MSU, LSU, Bama, Auburn every year

just realizes that one team would have to move. Guess Bama or Auburn

You would kick Bama and Auburn over to the East and pull Mizzou west. That way everyone holds on to their primary rivals and can still have a secondary cross divisional rivals.

It’s not about “adding markets”, it’s about adding incremental viewers where you can. All of the “elite” programs have a home, so if the end game is 16- or 20-team “super conferences” you would be smart to add the best non-elite programs you can to round out your conference.

OSU has consistently had the 3rd highest football ratings in the Big 12 after OU/Texas. It’s a solid “non-elite” add to any conference.  IF you think the end game is three or four super conferences and you’re not already maxed out on members, I’d think you’d seriously consider adding OSU.

Have the highest viewership outside of OU/UT games is a low fucking bar. Non OU/UT big12 games struggled to break a million viewers and many didn’t break 750k that’s fucking terrible.

Don’t sleep on the effort by TX legislature to block the move to SEC. word from the other Texas schools is that it’s a race to see who can get ink on paper first. Legislation could really become a thorn for the Longhorns. Hearing OU is going with or without TX.

WVU is not one of the schools pushing for unequal revenue shares to keep TX and OU. That is coming from TT, KSU, TCU, and Baylor.

Texas is apparently agreeing to stay if they can receive the 1.5 revenue share (appx $56 million per year). Vote would have to be unanimous. OU I’m not sure about. TX afraid their move to SEC may get politically blocked. Also don’t want to have to forfeit LHN

Fox network getting involved now. Possibly opening up the pocketbook. I don’t know for sure-only that there have been a lot of talks to today with television execs between many of the presidents.

I guess nobody told these morons that the legislature doesn't meet until 2023?

We didn’t skip on Briles because we “knew who he was.” He refused to interview for the job. He said whipping our ass was the interview, he wanted it given to him. We said fuck off.

Everyone pay attention. This is actually significant. Like a comfortable old shoe, Liucci and aTm are back in the same routine of trying to sidle up next to OU while they attempt to lampoon us. I guess fluffing them is just ingrained.

Which is great because the last 10 years of S-E-C shit talk from A&M has really soured OU fans and they have come with knives against aggy  since this move has been announced. So if they try and suck up to OU to piss us off it’s only going to make them look like cucks when OU pushes their shit in.

Not stupid at all. It won’t happen. But it should be a consideration. The population of how many states would California cover? Discount it by half even. Set it up for football figure the rest out separately if need be.

The only hope USC has is a higher chance at the playoff in the crappy PAC 16. But they might get annihilated in that playoff because they’ll trail the other coast in interest, prestige, recruiting.

Texas absolutely loses some of its identity going SEC.

There’s nothing tremendously special about playing at Starkville, the Columbia’s, Kentucky or even Oxford. There’s trade offs to all choices. And there’s always non- conference options.

The money would be there if done right. Texas-OU are still favorites to represent in the conference champ if that were to continue. You add premier venues for recruiting purposes.

The PAC 12 and specifically California do not give a shit about college football. Full stop.
