  1. The recruiting rankings value athleticism way too much. Greg Brown and Dillon Mitchell are athletic freaks but it was even obvious coming out of HS that they were extremely limited offensively.
  2. Up to 45 in RPI after last night. Predicted RPI has us finishing #33 in RPI which would definitely get us in.
  3. I don't see it. No matter how much time Mitchell spends working on his shot he's still going to be a below-average shooter. He was a 59.8% free throw shooter this year which is a pretty good indicator of where he's at as a shooter. He needs substantial progress to even become an average shooter. Some guys just have natural talent or they don't. Will he improve as a shooter? Sure, but he's still going to be a black hole on the offensive end.
  4. I think one of the dumbest narratives from this last season is RT didn't develop Mitchell. Mitchell was practically benched his FR year and was the worst player on the court at the NBA combine. Dude was finishing -20 almost every scrimmage at the NBA combine. Mitchell went from a really bad player to at least a serviceable 5th or 6th best player on a NCAA tournament team. The lack of development in the context of Mitchell is under the assumption he's a "NBA caliber" player which he simply he isn't. He has zero offensive game but can be a good college rebounder/decent defender which is exactly what RT got in year 2.
  5. They don't want to be role players and probably don't want to be paid as role players either (I.e. NIL). So there is the problem.
  6. Yeah, Staley is just a hard-nosed coach. Nothing about her screams bitch or cunt. Staley is very respectful to other teams/players in press conferences.
  7. Wasn't this fairly obvious? We have the 2nd best swimming and diving program on the women's side.
  8. I really like the Booker comparison. Both find ways to score but don't have eye-popping athleticism. If Johnson was just a step quicker/more athletic he would probably be the #1 recruit in this year's class. We haven't had a scorer like Johnson in a long time. Arterio Morris was a scorer but he was more of a downhill scorer. Johnson has a much better jumper and 3 inches on Morris which allows him to score in more ways.
  9. If there is ever a time to run it back and/or add a legit player from the portal it's next season. Just look at the elite 8 teams. LSU (losing 2 of their top players in Reese and Lith) South Carolina (likely losing 2 of their top 3 players in Cardoso and Paopao) Iowa (Losing Clark and a bunch of other players) NC State (likely losing 3 starters in Baldwin, Collins, and Hayes) USC (They lose a lot around Juju. 3 or 4 key players) Oregon State (about to have major roster turnover due to moving conferences) UCONN (likely losing Bueckers, Edwards, and Griffin. 3 starters and their top 2 players). This could be such a special team if Holle, Gaston, and Jones run it back.
  10. Tre Johnson and Weaver is a good starting point for the backcourt.
  11. Tre Johnson looks to be a different mold than most of our other highly ranked recruits in recent memory. Mitchell, Greg Brown, Bamba, etc were all athletic freaks but weren't really refined from a skills perspective. Johnson looks to be pretty skilled.
  12. You can see why Carlton is the #7 recruit (ESPN)/#4 recruit (Prospects Nation). Very skilled for somebody her size.
  13. That and Kelly isn't terrible. She just drastically underachieves with the talent she has and we aren't a top 10 program. 2022 (Big 12 champions/round of 32), 2023 (Big 12 tournament champions/Sweet 16), and next year we should be pretty good. She has us a fringe top 25 program right now in a sport we don't seem to care that much about. The benefit of somebody like Charlie Strong is they suck so much it's easy to fire them.
  14. I think it was more than that with Johnson. Gerry mentioned several times that Johnson wasn't attending class and that's about the time he stopped getting any playing time. Sounds like there are off the court issues with this one.
  15. There are probably 10 to 15 coaches that could get this team to at least an elite 8 next year. 1) Returning every contributor from a Sweet 16 team + getting Cox back from injury who is an All-American caliber fullback. 2) Top tier talent. Missimo and Byars will be drafted in the top 10 next year. Shimkin and Cox could very well go in the 20-30 range. 3) Most the roster next year will be experienced upperclassmen. 4) Top 10 recruiting class. This would be an embarrassment if Kelly can't do anything more than a Sweet 16 with this roster. This roster is approaching the level of talent we have on the volleyball team.
  16. They get more criticism because they're annoying as fuck. Two of the most annoying are white (Van Lith and Mulkey). How the fuck is this a racism thing?
  17. Geno is such a better coach than Gottleib. Like Vic, impressive job by Geno this year considering the injuries.
  18. UCONN has the same issue as Texas. Too many injuries but probably a final 4 team (or better) if healthy.
  19. Maybe the biggest shit-talker in women's basketball. She took the easy way out transferring to LSU and didn't win shit. No conference championship, no conference tournament championship, and didn't even make the final 4.
  20. Lith just didn't work at LSU. She was a volume scorer at Louisville and it seems they wanted her to play a different role at LSU. #1 transfer but the fit has to be right too. Definitely. I edited with Morrow before you replied.
  21. This is why you play the season. I thought for sure LSU would win it all with Lith, Reese, Morrow, and Johnson. This roster might have been better than last year's national title team but they seemed to have major chemistry issues. Not surprising when you're talking about all those egos between Lith, Reese, and Mulkey.
  22. Beautiful to see LSU lose. Preseason #1 and one of the most unlikable teams imaginable. Lith and Reese are huge shit-talkers. Mulkey is a complete cunt. Seeing Lith go out like this was a delight the way she's acted in her career.
