  1. RE: the McCallum protesters, in our weekly email from the principal (LASA), she said they were professional protesters whose goal was to provoke people into physically responding so they can sue.

She said they recently won a multi million dollar suit against the LAPD for not protecting them during their protest.

She's a fantastic leader and communicator and we're lucky to have her.

She also added this, which seems appropriate for Cloak Room:

What I need from you:  Please take a few minutes today to talk with your student about the difference between what this small group of men are doing (I believe there are around 8) and traditional protests.  I have a very strong belief in the right of assembly and our right to protest.  I have a similar strong belief that two people who are on the complete opposite sides of an issue, even a sensitive issue, can come together and have civil discourse such that both leave better understanding the reasoning behind the other’s argument/point of view.  Peaceful public protest is a remarkable thing in this country.  We can find solidarity and make our beliefs known to those in power.  However, this is not the goal of the organization that was in Austin last week.  Their goal is to say the most hateful things they can think of to goad students (and parents) into a confrontation for the purposes of suing.

Bottom line – if we see them near campus, we ignore them.  No matter what awful things they say – we don’t give them what they want – attention.  By turning our backs on them and ignoring them, we win.

  2. Saw it last night. Incredible. The sound and score were phenomenal.

All the acting was great. I was worried that Matt Damon was going to overact based on the trailer, but he was right in line with the rest.

We went to Los Alamos over spring break because I knew this was coming out. Having just been there and getting a primer on it was extremely helpful.

I'm sure that little museum is overrun this summer.

There will be a lot of well deserved awards from this.

  3. I got one.  It was high.  Basically, if you get a bad one, you never need one again, because the next time you'll need a coronary angiogram to check for blockage.
If you scored well, I assume its up to you as to how often you get one.
    This was my experience.

Got one when I was 42. I consider myself healthy-ish. Normal body weight, exercise regularly. I don't eat great though.

I scored over 90th percentile on the calcium test. That's not a good score at all. Like really shitty. I was even training for my second marathon at the time of the test. So I don't know where the correlations are. I think it's genetic because I told my dad and he said his was bad too. And he's in better shape than I am today

My cardiologist said there's no need to do another calcium test. He said it's a good data point, but doesn't mean anything definite by itself.

However, I did do a stress test also and he said that should be repeated every couple of years because of my poor calcium score
