  1. You referring to one of the other port finish offerings? This was the Valley Tan in white port wine barrels they just released at the distillery on Saturday for Pioneer Days. Didn’t have the soapy finish on the glass for this one. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  2. Told myself I was done standing in lines. Done. Too much other good stuff I can grab at my convenience. Yet here I am, like I said I wouldn’t, standing 25th in line 40 minutes before opening at High West for today’s release (wife in tow, obviously). Special release Valley Tan finished in white port wine barrels, you better be worth it! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  3. Sounds like we’re on the same page on the Remus with III being up there. The WJ13 is fantastic. A guy in another group posted that the one he had was a bit over oaked, but I didn’t see that with the specs pic I had. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  4. Where do you put II against III? I enjoy both but have rebought III twice while passing II on the shelf. Haven’t pulled the trigger on IV yet since it doesn’t seem to run yet. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  5. I’ve had decent luck. Feel like I’ve seen some smoke wagon. Definitely a handful of the desirable barrel proofs, seen some caribou, redemption 10s, loaded up on the rare high wests, etc. All around good spot. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  6. If you’re staying near the airport, DIA Liquor Warehouse has always been good to me on stuff I don’t always see at home. MSRP pricing. You can google the other nearby ones, but they’re all markup spots. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  7. Am I getting products mixed up, or did I hear that the 12 and the 14 were sourced from entirely different places? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  8. I believe this is NASA’s “A” barrel of the 9 year Sixth Street pick, and it’s pretty solid. I’m not crazy about their price point compared to similar products and the gimmicky bottles drive me nuts in a bad way, but I’m happy with the purchase. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  9. That makes sense. Barely been in town lately and not on FB a ton lately. Bad miss. At least I ended up with a Spec’s consolation prize. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  10. Man, I guess I don’t remember the SSW one. On the bright side? Walked into Allen and found the last one! #StillPlentyofSweetensCove Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  11. Yeah I found the post I saw now and am kicking myself for not dragging my ass out there. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  12. So was this an accidental stumble? I barely see the 12. Was this the release from just this week? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  13. Yeah it was DM. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  14. Haha haven’t heard that acronym in a long while! Was in the car apparently so can’t comment on the RATs. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  15. Popped into NASA and ran into a DFWWC admin loading up on store picks, and I essentially followed his lead. Solid trip! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  16. Ha, didn’t have the travel glen and didn’t think the individually wrapped hotel coffee cups were worthy. Probably happening this evening at some friends that we’re staying with. The wives were on FaceTime with a friend whose husband works in the business I guess and has traveled with some stores in the area for barrel picks. The wives were making fun of me for my black market bourbon dealings outside of a children’s resort. When she rattled off the bottles I ended up with, you could hear him utter from the background that it was a good haul. She they asked what I traded, his interest level changed noticeably. Lol “Wait, what? That’s definitely a once in a lifetime unicorn.” -Yeah I found two of them. “Wait, what? What’d you do with the other one.” [Wife flips camera around to the dog] Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  17. Haha good meeting you. The estate sale looms later this summer, but I’ll be back up there once more in a few weeks. You can bet I’ll be checking every last nook and cranny. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  18. This got more of a chuckle out of me than it probably should have. Anything at his expense is gold. Question for the Houston folks. Will be spending the weekend with some friends down in Friendswood / Crystal Beach. Any of those south Houston stores have any good store picks sitting on shelves worth picking up? I know the usuals fly off the shelves, but it’s not uncommon for a good 1792 BiB or something to sit for a while. Thanks Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  19. The color difference to the regular one is insane Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  20. Figured that was the case. I hit back to back drawings and got a Parker’s Heritage this time that I’ll be keeping. Another buddy hit for that Blade & Bow 22 yr and is probably going the flip route. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  21. This based on a Total Wine email today? Lol Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  22. The name sounds trash, but that description has me curious. Didn’t realize the other was Dickel but of course that makes sense. Didn’t realize the price point either until someone posted it yesterday. Oh well, you always have the newest toys and saw both of those popping up like crazy. The celebrity whiskey, or liquor for that matter, game needs to chill. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  23. Can’t knock you for drinking that. Looks awesome. Want. Was kind of expecting you to have a fresh bottle of Seagrass or the Peyton Manning/Andy Roderick stuff to review. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  24. This pretty much nails my opinion of them. From what I recall, the blend was intended to just be a placeholder until their first batch of bourbon was ready in ~3 years or so, but that date kept getting pushed back. The branding and the boot leather corks drew enough people in to keep them on the radar. I haven’t been myself, but I was really impressed when they bought Glen Garden CC and planned a whole distillery/golf/event venue. I will say one of my best bourbon drinking buddies got his start with TX. I’d put some ginger ale in the TX blend for his wife since I think it tastes like cream soda, and that was his gateway drug to thr barrel proofs of today. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  25. Lol and eventually one of us will drive to Dallas or Austin for a swap. I can slap your hand for being wrong then. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
