Yeah, I get it’s fun to enjoy a rival’s negative news, but this is bad for the sport in general.

I don't think so. There is more parity now than there has been in years because a handful of teams can't stockpile talent with those kids having no other option but to grad transfer or sit out a year. It is a QB driven game and the top 10 definitely showed that. You have a good QB, you have a chance to be a decent team. OU just seems to be on the losing end so far. No more under the table bags of money is gonna hurt some teams. The stakes just got higher and legal.

How can I appreciate Herm’s sentiment yet not agree with his premise? And LL, I was writing you this morning when my device ran out of juice, yeah, technical difficulties screwed me over multiple times, so that will indeed screw up your flow. I have enough flow problems #Flomax

There is a guy who frequently hosts named Erin Hogan who’s been an Austin radio personality for a really long time. I don’t know him, but Rod Babers speaks highly of him. His lighting situation can get odd at times, as if he’s broadcasting from some ethereal darkness, but I’m sure he’s not what you described.

It’s been pointed out I’m probably the guy Brazil hates. I’ve been a poster on this board and it’s predecessors for many years (some of you know my handle), and enjoy the community. Shitting on people is what we do. It’s just weird when you start taking shrapnel.

As Post Oak posted earlier (thanks for the kinda compliment by the way?) I was a sportscaster a long time ago, then a news anchor. I left TV in 2001, got real jobs, then retired this summer at a fairly young age. I really appreciated the work Gerry Hamilton was doing at IT, and exchanged messages with him. I later saw how much work Bobby was doing on YouTube and wondered if there was some way I could help, and reached out. Suddenly, I was given a livestream to host. Hell yes I was out of practice, plus in a different format than anything I had done previously.

I was also to just act as a facilitator, to engage the “experts” and read the questions coming in. When you’re reading a “superchat” (obligated to read those) with a rudimentary thought, it’s easy to conflate the reader with the silly/obvious/clearly misguided question (some superchats can be great questions). So, yeah, I can see where I can look like a dumbass who doesn’t know anything about football if echoing a dumbass thought. Of course,I can be a dumbass on my own, but Texas Football/Football has been my passion for years. I know it. No, I don’t know every sophomore linebacker at North Crowley who might “be on the radar.”

I was trained as a journalist, so I’m absolutely guilty of choosing my words carefully. That and the passage of time/slowing of synapses can interfere with one’s slickness. I’m not a hot-take-guy, so I guess that’s a ding, too.

I have no idea what’s going on with the channels, nor had any notice. I don’t even know if I’m to do any more shows. I was just a Texas Football fan who thought he might be able to help, keep engaged after retirement and not melt into a recliner. Also, not a rapist.

    Thanks, Ray

Take it with a grain of Salt Ray. IMHO what irritated me was it appeared you were on a delay causing you to talk over the other hosts.

Thanks for posting and keep your head up. It can sometimes get brutal in here.

Yes if it was just passing along the news, the show would only be about 10 minutes.  But it seems like the business model is to sit there for an hour while schmucks superchat $5 for the right to ask dumb questions like "what is the latest on Micah Hudson" or "should we be concerned about pass defense against Washington".

Part of the YT pay structure is minutes viewed.

From reading that it kind of sounds like Bobby wants to branch out to do his own thing, probably wanted Gerry too, and Gerry doesn't want to leave that ON3 paycheck.

Bobby has the money to pay Gerry. If he doesn't, he knows plenty of people who do. My best guess is this a contractual thing. Gerry isn't on to avoid issues with lawsuits. Just a guess by me though. Makes the most sense to me. You can tell, Gerry really enjoyed doing these things. Or perhaps he is just a good actor.

Gerry and Bobby have been buds forever, right? I wonder if this is more contractual. Bobby blew up with ON3 and as such Gerry can't work his channel anymore.

Looking forward to listening to tonight's live stream tomorrow. Honestly, if Bobby just gets a couple of recruiting dudes who can give the info and mix in knowledgeable former players or coaches to give analysis I'll listen. Would love to see how a Babers and Kelson Football Theory sounds. Bobby has all off-season to work some magic with his connections.

Lawyers have to be involved for this to have gone down the way it has. Probably a squabble over revenue from EN at IT.

Cool, except Chance Mock and Nordgren (who were the ones talking to Simms) said after the game that one of them said something to Simms like “if it had been you that just threw that pick, they wouldn’t let you back on campus” and Simms and the other guy started laughing. But it’s a better Major suck-off story to say Simms was a bad Longhorn and laughed at Major throwing an interception (I think Applewhite threw 4 INTs in that Holiday Bowl vs UW)

I literally DGAF. If he was in tune with the game, as a back up QB should have been, he wouldn't be laughing and neither should those other two fucks. He also shouldn't have thrown 3 picks in the CCG or 8 picks against OU. You ain't winning this argument.

Applewhite in the Holiday bowl 37 of 55, 4 TDs and 3 picks and gets what, we won. I watched that shit live dude. Where were you?

People praising Applewhite when he was just as shit as Simms is always the kicker for me.

Its pretty simple for me. In the Big 12 Championship game, we win we go to the Mythical National Championship game because of chaos. There was no reason to not expect to win as we destroyed them earlier in the season.. Simms proceeds to throw the ball to the other team(Colorado)...........repeatedly. 4 turnovers resulted in 26 points.  Applewhite comes in in relief and throws for 240, mostly in the second half and almost brings us back.

Applewhite starts the Holliday bowl and sets passing records(443 and 4 TDs) The pick Major threw in that game early, they panned to Simms and he was having a good ole time laughing his ass off. Fuck Chris Simms for what could have been. That is why so may people hate him. Very similar to why people hate on Blake Gideon.........What could have been. I will say, the  Simms choke job was much, much worse.

After what happened with Major as offensive coordinator I don't doubt it.

Look I have nothing against Chris Simms. He came here and did as well as he could. He just sucked in the big games. We have certainly had worse players come through here. I just get annoyed when people try to convince me what obviously happened, did not happen.

What, 8 picks in 3 games against Oklahoma? Texas has a higher standard than that. There is a reason we have a "Peter the Great". Those teams had a ton of talent on them too.

They're not dumb for taking advantage of the system, especially now that there's real money involved. I think the system is dumb to allow them to use this glitch to play a fifth or even sixth season of college football. Maybe I'm the only one bothered by it.

Taking advantage? Everyone had their season shortened due to Covid. Everyone gets an extra year because of it. They choose to use it or not, I wouldn't call that taking advantage. Now some can profit off of it....good for them.

Is a player taking advantage of the system if he redshirts?

It’s not about me, nor did I say that.

    after posting

"What have I actually done? Well, let’s see. I picked this team in the preseason poll to win 12 or more. I picked Texas to make the playoffs in two preseason threads. Picked Texas to beat Bama in Tuscaloosa. Boy, I sure lacked faith.

Oh, and then I did that thing where I helped invent a fucking NIL machine for Sarkisian, helped intellectually, operationally and monetarily enable a rapid solution to land and retain critical talent at OL and TE, and then, oh yeah, helped unite an NIL solution for the entirety of Texas athletics and put in near 6 figures on the football NIL end of TOF to help seed it."

    I'm confused.

No need to respond though, I'm sure it will be something, something, blah, blah, blah, fancy words, big paragraph.

Every regular on this board understands and appreciates what you have done for NIL at the University of Texas including me but I'm pretty sure most of us don't want to see you talk about all you've done and then say it isn't about you. No one said you are a bad fan and no one said you hate Texas. Please stop twisting/changing/ adding words to push your individual narratives. Some people see through that.
