    Oh Lord, laughing my ass off.  A Rick Sutcliffe reference, the Red Baron, on this the holiest of days.  And the "freaking me out" coincidences from Surly keep rolling on.  I had a dream about Joe Carter of all people last night (nothing terribly sexual, just some light petting).  And of course he goes on to have a great career but he's how the Cubs get Sutcliffe and should have won it all versus Detroit in '84.  That or I drank too much with Kelly Gruber several years back.  And the beat goes on...

    J-O-D-Y..J-O-D-Y...J-O-D-Y Davissss. Damn, we're getting old...

  2. My "furlough" started last week...but I don't have a good feeling about them bringing us back (local government entity/school sales, so it could be a while before they are functioning again from a Purchasing perspective).

    Of course, that pales in comparison to some of the other stuff going on out there--positive thoughts for you and your coworkers friends and family, AUS-97

    I had to switch docs and we got to the "habits" part of the appointment.

    "Do you smoke?"  "No."

    "Do you drink?"  "Yes."

    "Do you drink occasionally or most every day?"  "Oh, almost every day."

    <surprised look>

    "Do you consume 2 or more drinks every day?"  <laughter on my part>  "Uh, yeah, probably twice that most days and more on weekends."

    At that point he just kind of stared at me and say something like "you know, I think I actually believe you, which is extremely rare when I ask these questions."

    "Hey doc, don't forget to run the liver test."

    Unrelated (I think) to everything going on recently, I have been to see a doctor more frequently than normal over the past few months...

    "Hey, I'm just going to be honest with you--let's not recommend/prescribe anything that would cause concern about liver function. Just looking out for us both...."

  4. I don't think it's appropriate to quote anything to the interested parties in case they decide to delete later, but in a thread about thousands dead due to a weird pandemic I would not think it possible to dial up the crazy any higher. And yet, like so many have said, here we are....

    I read this article the other day and also watched Dr. David Price's video.

    @ChiTownDoc, thoughts?

    Penelope, sorry (obviously) not ChiTownDoc, but wanted to specifically mention this--I think it was Good Morning America that had a doctor on this morning and part of their summary was spread is primarily via person-to-person airborne/aerosol contact. I thought that was interesting because Dr. Price's information is definitely being shared a lot on the internet right now. Sorry, not much to add other than there doesn't seem to be much consensus/consistent messaging out right now.

  6. Previously my wife became so interested in my interest in Shaggy/Surly, she started reading some threads, including this one. After these gems last night, she told me I was cleared to post:

    Me: Gives overview of the Corona thread and general escalation of craziness/outbreak

    Her: "I don't know why we're not just giving people the Corona shot?" Me (having not heard anything about this): "What?!? There's a shot for Coronavirus?!?" Her: "Well, yeah, we've been giving it to dogs for years!" (yes, folks, there is a Canine Coronavirus vaccine/shot, and yes, that was the thinking here). And later...

    Me: Gives overview of the crazy Corey Feldman situation and movie "showing" allegedly detailing the abuse of him and Corey Haim

    Her: "Huh. Well, has Corey Haim said what he thinks about all of this?" Me: "I give up"

  7. Not sure how appropriate it is to post from another thread, but an inadvertent lol from the Kobe thread...

  8. Off to the Surly start that I would expect (and know and love). Ida, I am as far from an expert as there could be, but in my limited experience (and attempt at a somewhat serious answer), fat-side up has always made a significant difference in keeping the meat (all types) more tender and flavorful. <Insert my/South Austin's mom joke here>

  9. If any of you experts happened to see/hear it, could the Prosecution bringing up "sudden passion" during sentencing closing be an issue? Sounds like it was in the charge, but Defense was upset because they did not mention it.

    Side note: Kudos and a thank you to all the contributors on this thread--lots of useful information the past few days...
