College roommate was/is the biggest KISS fan you've ever met, so I have a good appreciation for them. Checking into this thread now so I can follow going forward.

Cool story, my buddy and his wife were the first couple to get married at the KISS chapel in Vegas and we went to the wedding where Paul gave away the bride and Gene was the best man. Shit's on YouTube if anyone wants to watch.

My college roommate is a huge KISS fan, in fact he went to the concert I mentioned above. I would not say he is the biggest but he does have every single album they released, even all 4 solo albums. Even he realizes that most of the solo stuff is garbage, except Ace's is decent. He also realizes that the Elder album is yeesh.

  2. Did not get to see them until about 15 years ago, on their neverending farewell tour. It was Saliva opening for Aerosmith and KISS(co-headlining, switching who went last at each venue). After Saliva and KISS, sounded like Aerosmith was playing through a little 50 watt amp. It was in Atlanta at Lakewood Amphitheatre and it rained like a monsoon during the whole event. Never been so soaked in my life.  Still, I finally got to see KISS in concert, so I still left happy. Criss was with them but not Frehley.

The Fixx in 1984 on the Phantoms tour. I was 16.

(I'm not counting rodeo concerts with my parents.)

The very first album I bought with my own money was a bootleg K-Tel tape with The Fixx as one of the artists, also The Tubes, The Kinks, The Police, etc. I found out it was called Sound System Hits of '83 but cannot find anything but an old commercial for it. A lot of those old K-Tel albums have been uploaded to Youtube but that one,was taken down, while they left the rest up. Bastards.

Found a link to buy it, now just need to get me a good turntable and a vinyl to MP3 converter, for nostalgia reasons.

  4. ^If you know the history of Elvis, this does not shed any new light. The main reason to watch it is for the commentary by Springsteen and Petty(RIP). Even that does not bring it to must watch but it will make you feel a little less like you wasted your time. Also, the ending is really done well.

  5. I grew up in a home where the only rock albums were Elvis albums and one Chuck Berry album. Mostly country and gospel records. It wasn't until the early 80's that there were any other rock albums in that house, after my mother allowed me to spend my allowance on bootleg tapes at flea markets. I heard other rock music but only at school, from the "bad kids" and when riding in one of my brothers vehicles.

Just finished the documentary. Very little in them that I had not seen or heard before. Although did like hearing the thoughts from Springsteen and Petty(RIP). Not a waste of time, especially for those who are not as versed as I already was, for those that do not know his history.

  6. Got it recorded on my DVR. WIthout seeing it yet, can tell you that Col. Tom Parker was a POS SOB from hell. Seriously, if there is a hell, hope he is enjoying his hot poker ass raping, where Satan himself set up a ticket booth to sell others the chance to use the poker.

Well....maybe not.....except for the fact foster is accustomed to Saban always coming to the rescue. Maybe he's not pulling this shit if Saban would have implemented some serious discipline for his stars

Foster spent quite a bit of time in Saban's doghouse. He did not start a full season until his last season. He had the physical talent to play all three years, as a starter but not the mental, hence why he did not start all season until that last year. His next to last year, he was in and out of the doghouse and as such, only started a few games. This is in a program where many true freshman come in and start right away, like Calvin Ridley, Jalen Hurts, Amari Cooper, etc. Difference with those guys, they never got in any trouble.

Heathers was absolutely great and no way in hell would it get made today.  Not a chance and not just because of the smoking and blowing up schools.

Have not watched it but there is a Heathers TV series on Paramount Network(used to be Spike), that just recently started.

  9. If the charges are true, fuck him. Lock him up a year for every punch thrown and add a few more for good measure. If true, I hate that he ever wore the uniform of the team I support. I sure as hell do not support this kind of bullshit.

Kip Winger is on a solo acoustic tour right now.

Heh. A couple years ago, me and a couple friends went to see Tesla/Alice Cooper/Motley Crue. I already had a Metallica Kill "Em All tour shirt and a AC/DC Black Ice tour shirt. One of my friends decided to order a plain black tee with nothing but Winger on the front. So lent the AC/DC shirt to the other friend, I wore the Metallica shirt. It was somewhat disappointing, only a couple of people got our joke.

Swallowed a mud dobber once, but not on purpose.

I think any of us that grew up out in the country, have swallowed some insect. Riding in the back of a pickup, stand up and yell, facing forward, thwap. That or riding a dirt bike, go kart or a bicycle as fast as you can pedal.

Good show so far. Hader isn't my favorite, but the supporting cast makes it worth watching.

Well, he usually isn't my favorite but he is playing his part very well here. The straight guy for everyone else to play off of, a social recluse looking for something other than his violent past to be the center of his life. The elderly 45 year old assassin was a portrait of what he wants to avoid becoming.

He was a hell of a coach.

Posted these years ago at the old shaggy homestead, but thought I'd do it again here if you don't mind.  These are pages from the game program for the UW - Illinois game at Husky Stadium in 1956 (my grandfather took his little girl - my Mom - to that game and she brought back this program).  That was DKR's one and only year here before heading to the Forty Acres; until Sark bailed on us (we survived) he was the last coach that left here for another school of his own volition.  Hook 'em, DKR - and thanks for spending a year here!

Cool pics. You can partially blame Bryant for him leaving after the one year. He was asked by the UT BOT(BOR?) for his recommendation for a new coach and his suggestion was Royal. He met Royal quite a few years earlier, when Bryant was the head coach at Kentucky and Royal was a grad assistant at OU. Royal was assigned to show Bryant around when he visited the OU facilites. He said he saw something in him that day and they became lifelong friends.
