Goddamnit, every highlight of Penix on NFL Network was against us in the Sugar Bowl.

He is no more, my friend. Bannished.
I went and found the thread. Damn you for sending me down this rabbit hole. Who knew there was such drama percolating through these forums?

I’m a fan of this statement even though it may be wrong. That’s not the point - point is this is a perfect NBA derka bat signal and now we have lost our big goofy friend. RIP Derka
What happened to Derka?

Boy, the last two posts here sailed right over my head.
You clearly need to brush up on your minor characters from John Hughes movies of the 80’s if you want to keep up with this crowd.

My opinion it doesn't matter if you check yes or no, If someone wants to reach out to the player, they will find a way.
Dear Damonic,
Do you want to play for the Longhorns?

He seemed like a good kid. Recruited hard for us in the '22 class and was all-in on Texas. Hope he figures it out.
There is just something about those vocal peer recruiters on social media that never seem to work out. Jalen Milroe, Brown, Kirkland. Bobby Taylor at ATM.

It’s a very rational response. It’s big and showy for the Islamic world to see that Iran isn’t going to take its consulate getting bombed without a response. But the response is done in such a way that Israel can repel it with little difficulty and virtually no damage.
Israel can declare victory and call it a day based on the performance of its air defenses and the support it has received from its allies. And, in fact, that’d probably be the smart play.
But it’s not the play that keeps Bibi in office and out of prison. So really no chance of that happening.
I have seen this argument a couple of places and it doesn’t make a lot of sense to me. If I am an observer in Oman, or the UAE, or Iraq and I see Israel fire one missile that takes out the commander of the Quds Force and several other high ranking members, and Iran’s retaliation is to fire 300 drones, cruise, and ballistic missile that collectively only manages to injure a poor little Bedouin girl, who comes off looking like the strong horse in this exchange?
I tend to think that they really thought they would inflict some pain on Israel. If they didn’t, it seems like a miscalculation, a waste of a lot of their arsenal, and it gives Israel another causus belli to come back after them. If you’re going to break forty years of acting through proxies to do your dirty work, I would think you’d want a much better return on such a move.

I’m 6 episodes in and really enjoying it so far. Have a question that seems like a fundamental flaw in the premise that I’m wondering if they ever answer:
SpoilerIf the San-Ti come from a planet so unstable from the three suns that there is an apocalyptic event on an irregular but constant basis, how has life, much less an advanced civilization that can travel through space, ever had enough time to flourish? It just seems like with this many cataclysmic disruptions to civilization (going by what was shown in the VR game) that they would never get that far evolved.
I have a hard time seeing how the dehydration/rehydration strategy works on a macro-civilizational level.

You just heard the announcers. Purdue is so good they never commit fouls.
I think that’s what bothers me the most. The gaslighting by all of the announcers. - “They play tough defense without fouling”

I haven’t seen a hint of Mao in the Tencent adaption. 3-4 episodes in.
I mean, technically, Mao’s face didn’t appear in the Netflix version either. Does the Tencent version not depict the struggle session or work camps?

Really surprised to see there’s a Chinese adaptation given how hard (and accurately) they portray the horrors of Mao’s Cultural Revolution.

Great movie. If you have kids it hits especially hard. I listen to the soundtrack quite a bit as background music for work.

Nobody has seen Gene Hackman for a while. I'm just sayin'...
He was spotted at a Pappadeaux’s in New Mexico last week. Looks every bit of 94.

The Daily Mail running a story on the national anthem controversy by amplifying posts of outrage on Tiger Droppings is the corn dog circular firing squad action I’m here for:

Fillipowski is carrying on the long and storied tradition of Duke having a hateable white guy who behaves like a wrestling heel on the court. A grateful nation thanks you for your service in keeping it unified against Duke.

I guess this is an improvement. When they played in Maui last year Purdue had 48 FT’s.

You are aware that the Washington Post prints new articles every day? That's a lot of content to fill. They can't all change the world. You've got to be shitting me that you think they backed down because they feared litigation from swamp trash lawyers.
I don’t know what was supposed to be in the article. Pat Forde made it sound like it would threaten Mulkey’s job and everyone on this thread was speculating like she was one of the Tuttle family from True Detective. Then we get a big long nothingburger.
I wouldn’t have posted the tweet from Torres if I thought he was a right wing hack. He doesn’t work for Outkick, he isn’t an LSU beat writer, he’s a UCONN journalism grad who writes for the Athletic. As far as I know, Fox Sports doesn’t have a political slant anymore than shows that appear on the Fox Network do. I’m sure if something was cut from the story it will leak out later.

Riiiiiiiiiiiiight. I don’t think a newspaper who went head to head with the Catholic Church over child abuse and is funded by Jeff Bezos is scared of some swamp trash, basketball corch. She’s just incredibly insecure.
Times have changed. The paper that took on the Catholic Church and exposed Watergate wouldn’t be wasting its time writing a 7500 word mildly critical profile of a swamp trash women’s basketball coach.

Hurley is such the perfect coach for UConn. That northeastern coach.
He’s shameless. “The refs are allowing a physical style of play which obviously benefits them [Illinois].” As his 7’2” barbarian is wreaking havoc in the paint.

Saw the original at the Varsity Theater on Guadalupe my freshman year. I have a lot of trepidation about revisiting a great movie after so many years but that trailer does make me hopeful. Fingers crossed.
