Riiiiiiiiiiiiight. I don’t think a newspaper who went head to head with the Catholic Church over child abuse and is funded by Jeff Bezos is scared of some swamp trash, basketball corch. She’s just incredibly insecure.

Times have changed. The paper that took on the Catholic Church and exposed Watergate wouldn’t be wasting its time writing a 7500 word mildly critical profile of a swamp trash women’s basketball coach.

Hurley is such the perfect coach for UConn. That northeastern coach.

He’s shameless. “The refs are allowing a physical style of play which obviously benefits them [Illinois].” As his 7’2” barbarian is wreaking havoc in the paint.

  3. Saw the original at the Varsity Theater on Guadalupe my freshman year.  I have a lot of trepidation about revisiting a great movie after so many years but that trailer does make me hopeful. Fingers crossed.

Thanks for posting, just read the whole thing. I’m not even sure I could call it a hit piece. It’s more of a warts and all portrait of a completely uncompromising coach driven to win at the highest level and personal relationships be damned. She’s frozen out her own father for 40+ years over his infidelity, and more recently her sister, apparently.

Mulkey sounds like the type who is extremely diffficult/unpleasant to be around, but she’s probably great for the women’s game. Apathy is their biggest enemy and heels get eyeballs.

Everyone is playing for second behind UCONN anyway, so does it really matter?

I agree that UCONN is the prohibitive favorite, but for Alabama, Clemson, and Tennessee who have never made a Final Four, just getting there will be a big deal.

  6. SNOB, High Cotton, Magnolia, Anson, and Hank’s Seafood are some backup options near where you are staying. There will be lots of tourists in that area, but all of these places have been around forever and are local institutions. Fleet Landing out on the water is also nearby and has good seafood offerings. I can also vouch for FIG and Husk. Right across the street from your hotel is The Vendue, which has a nice rooftop bar.

If you go to Upper King St., Hall’s Chophouse is Cougar Town Central like CTJ says, and the food isn’t half bad. The Grocery and The Ordinary are also good choices in that part of town. O-Ku is a decent sushi restaurant as well. Proof and Prohibition are good places for craft cocktails and Stars Rooftop has great atmosphere when the weather is nice for a rooftop bar.

It’s really hard to go wrong with food in Charleston.

Compare and contrast with Gerry’s post game show where he called our similarly close loss “an embarrassing way to lose.”

Y’all should read it differently than this. Burrell looks good and could be a starter down the line. There is too much talent ahead of him for that to be the case at Texas.

Another thing I remembered is that the LB out of California that they are on, as far as traditional LBing,, is All American good.

Think he means this guy. His film is real good. He can really move. There is one funny play where he gets blown 5 yards off the LOS but he still makes the tackle (1:20). Not sure I would have put that one in there.

Gerry was talking about him over the weekend.  Says he’s real underrated and looks like one of the best HS prospects at LB in the country.

No one was complaining that she did not get Griner out of prison.  However, her response to the situation was aggressively hostile and shitty.  It certainly seemed like she went out of her way to give the impression that she did not give a damn about Brittney Griner.

I’m sorry, I missed her “aggressively hostile and shitty” response to the situation.  What did she do?  I thought the complaint was she just ignored it.

She's has a much bigger platform than randos on instagram using hashtags. Of course she couldn't do anything to get her out of prison directly, but supporting her former player should be expected. She didn't because she's in a certain cloak room faction that decided she's gay, black, and vocal about both, meaning fuck her let Putin do what he wants. Fuck Mulkey, and fuck everyone who used Griner's situation as a platform to be assholes.

Again, I hold no brief for Kim Mulkey and knew nothing about her other than she rode Britney Griner to championships at Baylor and won another championship at LSU last year wearing ridiculous outfits.

My objection was to the original RedditCFB post saying Mulkey “didn’t lift a finger” to get Britney Griner out of prison in Russia. Griner was a hostage taken by an autocrat playing 19th century power politics. We had to trade the Lord of War to get her back, for God’s sakes. There was literally nothing that Mulkey could have done to effectuate her release regardless of her platform as a women’s college basketball coach, and the tweet made it sound like all Mulkey had to do was make a few phone calls to get her out. It was a ridiculous tweet and if there is as much actual dirt on Mulkey as this thread seems to suggest, there should have been much more legitimate arrows in the quiver to sling.

Last night was ugly.  Some of that is absolutely on Rodney

Absolutely true. Just offering my thoughts on the season as a whole.

You are delusional if you don’t think that moment swung the game in the first half. We were within 4 with only a few minutes left.

I know, it feels better to blame things on one player you don’t like. The reason we’re losing is we’ve scored 25 points in 25 minutes.

Stuff like below article is why some folks upset that Mulkey didn't speak out in support of Griner while she was in Russian prison.

That seems like a better angle to go after her by the RedditCFB account, but then again that account seems like the type who thinks starting a #FreeBritney hashtag on Twitter or changing a profile pic on Instagram actually means something.
