Anyway, I'm curious who the pied piper is for this class (in group chats, on social media, etc.) now that Milroe is gone. Billy Bowman?

none milroe was the most vocal

from what ive seen ibrhaeem & brooks but not nearly the level of milroe

I just want some OL.  I wouldn't even take a QB just to take one.  I realize worst case scenario next year would be Card starting, Thompson leaving, with only having JQJ as a backup, but if it ever comes to it, the transfer portal has big time QB's in it every year.

    not the worst case

worse case would be  card winning the job thompson transferring & jqj getting re injured

rojo would have to move back to qb

The Stampede, Part II: Notes from 'Who Wants the Smoke' Dallas
    NICK HARRIS

DUNCANVILLE, Texas — This past weekend served as a big opportunity for in-state recruits to showcase their talents at the Duncanville Fieldhouse in the Who Wants the Smoke showcase.

Multiple Texas targets were in action including 2021 five-star center Daimion Collins, 2022 four-star point guard Austin Nunez, 2022 five-star shooting guard Keyonte George, 2022 four-star shooting guard Cason Wallace, 2022 three-star shooting guard Anthony Black, 2022 four-star power forward Jordan Walsh, 2022 four-star center Vince Iwuchukwu and 2022 three-star center Zuby Ejiofor.

Texas is coming off of a commitment over the weekend from Brookfield (Wis.) Central power forward David Joplin as their class currently sits at three commits with anywhere from two to four spots left up for grabs.

The 2022 class is one of the more impressive in-state classes in recent memory in the state of Texas as they sport 12 recruits in the top 150, the third most of any state in the country.

In this week’s special second edition of The Stampede, Horns247’s weekly gathering of recruiting intel, we break down the performances of each Texas target, look at Daimion Collins' performance and decision timeline, and take a look at Horns247's all-tournament teams.

    THE LATEST ON DAIMION COLLINS

    (Photo: Nick Harris, 247Sports)
Atlanta (Texas) five-star center Daimion Collins played with the Dallas-based TAZ Elite team over the weekend after spending much of the summer training with Team Griffin in Oklahoma City.

Collins struggled on the first day of action with a team he hadn't played with before, but picked it up considerably on the second day. He flew across the court and made highlight dunks and insanely athletic blocks from the paint to the perimeter.

Collins seems to be closing in on a decision, and Texas is in the driver's seat with Oklahoma and Kansas trailing. That decision was initially expected to come in the next couple of weeks, but Collins is most likely going to hold out a bit longer to see if he can take his visits.

    TOURNAMENT MVP - VINCE IWUCHUKWU

    (Photo: Nick Harris, 247Sports)
My MVP for the entire tournament goes to 2022 four-star center Vince Iwuchukwu. The 6-10 center is transferring from San Antonio Cole to La Lumiere (Ind.) for his final two seasons and before heading off to Indiana for his junior season, he showed out at the Who Wants the Smoke showcase.

Playing for the San Antonio-based Texas Hardwork team, Iwuchukwu matched up against solid competition including Daimion Collins and found big time success in the rebounding game and showed one of the best turnaround jumpers from the elbow that I've seen in a recruit his size at his age.

His communication with Texas has been solid as assistant coach Neill Berry has done the majority of work in that recruitment. He pointed to their development of big men such as Mo Bamba and Jarrett Allen as a reason why he is highly considering the Longhorns. He loves the family culture and the team bond that he hasn't seen at other schools.

IS A TOP 2022 FOOTBALL TARGET A POSSIBLE BASKETBALL TARGET?

Football recruiting fans may be very familiar with Duncanville's four-star defensive end Omari Abor as he is a top target on the gridiron for the Texas 2022 class.

What is little known about his recruitment is that he is looking to play both basketball and football at the next level. On the hardwood, he already has an offer from Michigan and is picking up interest from multiple schools, including Texas, Baylor and Washington.

After playing for Dallas Showtyme Elite over the weekend, he told Horns247 that the Texas football staff has pitched him already on playing basketball as well in Austin. He is scheduled to hop on the phone with head coach Shaka Smart soon.

ANTHONY BLACK HAS FOUR-STAR POTENTIAL IN FOOTBALL AND BASKETBALL

    (Photo: Nick Harris, 247Sports)
Speaking of possible two-sport stars at the next level, Coppell's Anthony Black has picked up 7 offers on the basketball court, including Texas, and 12 offers on the football field.

He is currently gauging the field in both sports and weighing his options, but playing both sports at the next level is a very solid possibility for the 6-foot-5 shooting guard and wide receiver.

Black was offered by Texas' basketball staff earlier this month, but the communication between the two has been going on for much longer. Black said that Texas is his favorite school right now because of his relationship with Neill Berry and Shaka Smart as they talk 3-4 times a week.

Baylor is also at the top as his dad is a former star on the hardwood for the Bears.

NEW OFFER 2022 CENTER ZUBY EJIOFOR

    (Photo: Nick Harris, 247Sports)
The Longhorns' newest offer was in action this past weekend as Garland 2022 center Zuby Ejiofor picked up his first two offers last week from Texas and TCU.

He said it was an amazing day for him, his family and his coach when he got those two offers. Ejiofor talked directly with Shaka Smart when he was offered and that Smart said he needed him in this 2022 class.

Ejiofor likes a lot about Texas as he is a big Kevin Durant fan and grew up watching the Longhorns.

SAN ANTONIO WAGNER FOUR-STAR PG AUSTIN NUNEZ

    Austin Nunez (Photo: 247Sports)
San Antonio Wagner's four-star point guard Austin Nunez is coming off of a transfer from Cornerstone Christian in San Antonio after a big rankings boost earlier this summer that saw him rise into the top 50 in the country.

If you ask him, rankings don't mean much for him, it's more so what happens between the lines that matters.

His relationship with Shaka Smart is super strong as they talk often. Smart had Nunez write an essay to him about a book written by the late Kobe Bryant, a unique recruiting approach that Nunez appreciated to help strengthen their bond.

MY FAVORITE GUARD FROM THE WEEKEND

    (Photo: Nick Harris, 247Sports)
Richardson (Texas) four-star shooting guard Cason Wallace was lights out this past weekend for TAZ Elite as he made some big time knockdown jumpers and even saw himself running a little point throughout the weekend.

He said he's talked to Texas a few times as him and assistant coach Jai Lucas talk frequently just about life and basketball.

Wallace's recruitment is quickly turning into a heated battle as seven Big 12 schools have offered as well as eight others including DePaul, Creighton and Arkansas.

    ALL-TOURNAMENT FIRST TEAM

G - Langston Love (BMM) - Montverde Academy (Fla.)

G - Cason Wallace (TAZ Elite) - Richardson (Texas)

F - Jaylon Tyson (Next Page Force) - Plano (Texas) John Paul II

F - Jake Wahlin (Utah Prospects) - Provo (Utah) Timpview

C - Vince Iwuchukwu (Texas Hardwork) - La Lumiere (Ind.) MVP

These five made big impacts throughout the weekend in helping their respective teams pull out wins against solid competition. Iwuchukwu pulled out the MVP after solid performances against Daimion Collins and Colorado commit Lawson Lovering.

    ALL-TOURNAMENT SECOND TEAM

Daimion Collins (Photo: Jon Lopez/Nike, 247Sports)
G - CJ Noland (TAZ Elite) - Waxahachie (Texas)

G - Wade Taylor IV (Southern Assault) - Lancaster (Texas)

F - Daimion Collins (TAZ Elite) - Atlanta (Texas)

F - Ramon Walker (Texas Hardwork) - Alvin (Texas) Shadow Creek

C - Lawson Lovering (Utah Prospects) - Cheyenne (Wyo.) Central

I know the first question from Texas fans will be why Collins didn't make first team. His performance on day one wasn't as strong as the forwards on the first team as he was getting accustomed to playing with a new team. However, on day two, he shined bright and almost snuck his way into first team consideration.

bruh 247 not going to give carl credit

Non-contact injuries are the fucking worst 😞 Apparently it was because his foot got caught in the turf. Yet another reason we shouldn't have moved away from grass.
