I just hope all of our newfound aggie brethren can live with themselves after breaking the aggie code by posting here. Do you have to perform some sort of penance for that? Like three Farmers Fights and a conjugal visit with a sheep?

Ha. It doesn't bother me in the least posting here. I mostly appreciate the lack of modification. I'll have to get back to you on the penance.

I love Looch updates when he talks about who Aggy will sign. If we sign these guys we’re not going to sign, we would have an elite class. So it’s these elite guys or these other lower rated guys we are more likely to sign. But you know, pretty much the same. We’re going to be awesome.

Lol. I was never part of texags for this very reason.

It’s been mentioned before, Jimbo recruits nationally because neither he or his coaches have strong Texas ties. It’s really that simple. They’re going to continue to get a handful of redass legacies and small town folk and pepper it in with dudes from NE, and leftovers from SE.

The decades long ties may not be there, but I wouldn't say Jimbo totally struck out in state. Leal, Jaylon Jones, Bobby Brown, Baylor Cupp, etc. Certainly missed out on guys we wanted, too, but it hasn't been that bad.

I think all of aggies QBs suck

Well, the roster isn't exactly stacked. Mond is underwhelming, clearly. Foster and Calzada don't see much time, and don't seem to make much of it when they get playing time. I'm not sure Calzada isnt the best in the room. His arm talent is the best by a wide margin.

Funny, it's reverse order for me.

My OL eval skills arent always great. I love Fatheree due to size and feet. We've just been so short on both. He needs to focus more on football and not basketball, but if he can keep his feet and get a little more good weight, I like his potential.

Stowers has a lot of velocity and certainly has enough arm talent but his mechanics are all over the place and he rarely throws the same way twice. King doesn't have enough velo and just isn't a great scheme fit for that offense. Simpson has more than enough, assuming you were asking about him.

I expect Stowers to be the guy. Despite any mechanical issues he simply doesn't turn the ball over. There's a lot to be said for being wildly athletic and NOT turning the ball over.

King played a west coast offense in HS. Arm strength is certainly the biggest question mark.

I kind of don't have the heart to tell you that it's Jimbo that is the constant in that philosophy. He continues to hire guys like Trickett and Henson, guys that have always had long, lean, athletic zone blocking guys on their lines -- and then he continues to have those guys take a pack of 6'3" 330 lb straight line maulers that can't move laterally. (the entire 2020 class, for instance).

If I were you I'd be fucking amped about Wykoff. I love a TE turned OT and I think he's got a skillset that you simply don't have on the roster at all. Zuhn is a good take as well, but Wykoff is the prize in this OL class, imo.

I like wykoff but liked Zuhn better. And fatheree the most. Really wish we could flip the mizzou commit Tollison. Just happy they are legit OT size and have some experience. It's insane.

The scheme is my biggest worry, along with Jimbo's historically shitty OLs at fsu. Doesn't instill much confidence that we'll ever get it right.

Don't all 3 have questionable arm talent, especially the arm talent needed for Jimbo's 20 year old offense?

Valid question, for sure. Mond lacks it, yes. People didn't think King had a strong arm, but he showed out well at elite 11. Would have liked to have seen more of that in games. Stowers threw well before his injury and put up good numbers. Not Aaron rogers (or Behren Morton), but probably good enough

It seems like we take athletes that play qb. I wish we would take qbs that had some athletic ability. King might fit that mold better.

Isn’t he a tackle? aggy doesn’t take tackles, stupid hammlite

Lol. We take everyone 6'4 and under and pray one of them turns into a tackle. You wonder why we wanted Shepherd so much? That was a big part of it. Sick of an OL consisting of a group of right guards.

He would be your day 1 starter

I'm not to his tape, yet, but the staff seems to really like him. I doubt he's a day 1 starter, though. Stowers and King both (especially stowers, if healthy) offer a lot of upside, at least compared to Mond. Thankfully he'll be gone by then.

I will take away from this update that Looch will spin Klubnik as a superior arm talent for Jimbo's offense when Ewers inevitably ignores the fuck out of them. All reports indicate that he's vetting offensive systems, and the aggy scheme ain't it

I think Simpson will probably be our guy. Could be wrong. Not hearing anything on Ewers.

Solomon Wright flipped from Tech to Arky today. Tech fans seem pretty mad about it, and I wouldn’t be surprised if he becomes a good player for them. I had doubts about Pittman, but I’m actually pretty impressed with their class so far. They’ll have to settle for the high upside players first, but that should help them at least pull even with the Mississippi schools (and maybe even aggy down the road).

Lol, pittman has done well in recruiting so far. Can he coach? Can he turn that dumpster fire into something respectable? Can he even get the respect of the team (something morris couldnt do)? Lots of ifs before they even get to mediocre.

Plus he wore a nice aggy windbreaker to the Xmas party and gave the thumbs up in every pic.
...does that strike you newbs as unprofessional (this is a test)?

Well, the gigem is kind of our thing. Although I can't think of any Christmas party pictures from work functions where I had my thumb up. Probably ok at school-related things, but in my profession, not generally going to happen.

I'm betting Malone doesn't make it to campus. This type raw power is something you don't find at players his age.

Some team will draft him high based on the trackman data.

Have you checked out desmond watson? If he got down to the low 300lb range, he would be incredible. Great hands and feet.

Get the fuck out of here with this reasonable shit you fucking 2% aggy fuck. Burris isn’t going to OU because he knows the SECSEC is where the big boys play. And Jimbo recruits nationally because he can snap his fingers and have any five star he wants in the country, but he likes to take the hidden gems instead to give himself a challenge, that’s why he’s a champion in the prime of his career.

Lol. Come on, stop lying. He doesn't get those five stars without Karen's help.

Seems that while coaches were coaching and players were working hard, he wasn’t. Things were different once the courtship was over and nobody was paying him special attention. He got distracted and started talking to people who convinced him he shouldn’t stay. And Texas certainly hasn’t been known for coddling players the last few years.

His heart was never at Texas.

It sounds like his heart is going to end up working at McDonald's. Makes you wonder how he lost all that weight. You'd think something must have changed.

  17. 12 minutes ago, HtownHorn said:

What is wrong with Burris, Ike, and Regis? Though it appears Burris is heading towards eating himself into a 2-3 year development track. What is the speculation why Jimbo seems infatuated with OOS recruiting?

Yeah, I mean even if Malone goes with baseball, you take him. He's great.

We are in on Burris and Regis, but I get the feeling they are guys we may just be keeping warm. I like both a lot, although I worry a little bit about Burris being ou scraps and the injury he had.

As far as national recruiting, I think it's a number of things. It's all Jimbo knows. He and the staff may be better connected elsewhere (Elijah Robinson in the NE, for example). They are confident in the evals (we'll see how those all play out). I also wonder if they don't think some Texas kids are maxxed out already, or there is no tread left on the tires. Ultimately, though, he's like any other coach in that he wants to find guys he thinks will help him win. He must think recruiting nationally does that.

Oh shit, folks. We got a 2%er on our hands.

i have to say though, reasonable takes like this really undercut my mental image of all aggys being daddy98 clones.

btw, @DrPepper @ALC @jordanaggie, have any y’all actually met daddy98 and were the cheetoh stains on his fingers as severe as I picture them?

Lol, I have not had that opportunity. So I can't vouch for the cheetos or the bean bag chair. Probably for the best.

I hope he's a take for aggy. He's never going to be a contributor. Waste of a scholarship.

Just look at some of the aggy comments. They're starting to realize that he's way too small now.

Yeah, i mean if that is how he still looks, he's not an OT, which is what we need. I was pretty pissed when yall picked him up--I thought he had first round potential. I think if he got into (and actually followed) a good S&C program, he could get back to that level. Maybe wishful thinking, though.

We (not me) found out where he worked and posted a bunch of pics from the company Christmas party. They didn’t seem to enjoy all the extra attention. He got shitcanned within a week or two.

Sounds about right. That is funny. The only other thing I'd heard was that he got into a fight at a high school game (not sure how physical it got) with a reporter at texags.
