Is Hansford really going to start now?  As someone said, seemed like all he did last year was come in on 3rd down and blitz.

Not sure on Hansford. The bench is pretty deep at LB. I liked Hines and would have expected him to break through a little more this year. It is strange the kid can't put on any weight, though.

Just because you can be civil and an IQ above 12 doesn’t mean you’re not a homer. You are on multiple recruiting sites. That makes you (and most of us) a homer. Compared to the mouth breathers you normally interact with? Sure, you’re Switzerland.

What recruiting sites do you think I'm on?  247 and assuming it counts, here, is it.  And sure, I cheer for my team, but I'm not blindly following Luicci or other Kool-Aid drinkers (although in my early days, I was probably more inclined to, until they proved how little they knew).

"We do think your commits get late bumps in the rankings"

You let your groupthink talking point slip.  You're saying the presumably objective things above but your slip is hanging.

I said your guys get bumps and drops, and so do ours.  Yes, I think that.  Others seem to, too, which is why I intentionally used the word "We".  You can keep trying to box me into a corner, but I'm not much of a homer, especially when I stop over here.

Why are you couching your aggy propaganda?  It's disingenuous.

Because you guaranteed him $75M simply for putting on a plausible show?

What have I couched and what propaganda?  Your guys get bumped and dropped, and it may or may not be justified.  Our guys get bumped or dropped, and it may or may not be justified.  You may have missed the sentence about rankings being nonsense.

I think a few different things are at play that make it feel different.

first, the OOS impact has taken a toll in the form of in-state kids having far less interest - esp those middle-tier players and clearly on defense. The in-state kids simply don't have friends or teammates on the roster so there's not a lot of guys waiting to pounce on that offer. the number of OOS offers to guys that seem less talented than kids in-state that don't have offers has exacerbated this feeling among recruits, so instead of filling out the aggy class or waiting for the aggy offer they are going to SMU, OkState, Baylor, etc ...

Fisher is relying on Coach Ish, Craig, and Elijah completely. Robinson is a bad recruiter, replacing Graham with Robinson was a loss. Graham wasn't great but he was a million miles better than Robinson. Darrell Dickey has no impact on on the trail and since Fisher won't adjust his offense, he's an absolute waste of a coaching spot. That's no different from before but if he's going to waste a spread consulting spot on someone it might as well be a young gun that also recruits. Santucci got his guy in Seegers and then what? He should be mentioned by every defensive recruit with a pulse, but it's just Ish and Elijah over and over.

In adding Coley you were supposed to replace Brewster and he was supposed to bring a South Florida influx. Coley hasn't cracked that egg while in College Station and recruiting South Florida, even at the best of times, is always going to be chaotic. Keeping those kids for 4 years is always incredibly difficult, even for schools like FSU, Miami, and UF.

Really good take, here.  20% of our guys are doing 80% of the work.  I have no idea what Coley, Dickey, and T. Robinson are doing.  I'm not sure on Santucci, but I'm hoping his coaching chops are better than his recruiting, because a 1-LB class of Seegars is extremely concerning.  Price is largely asleep behind the wheel, too.

So we have a proven commodity at left tackle. And you have one you hope will be good at a position for which he's not a natural fit. And that makes them equal? Look, I agree that our OL isn't exactly a strength. The difference between "kinda shitty" and "pretty good" is gonna depend on one of our  young tackles getting some experience and playing to their potential at RT  - exactly what y'all are hoping happens with K Green at LT. I guess we'll see.

Re: stat bumps - that's bullshit. I didn't see y'all bitching about Jaylon Jones going up nearly 60 spots after he committed to y'all. Or Antonio Johnson going from 185 to 47 on 247's last ranking. Or Antonio Doyle going up 27 spots in the final 247 ranking. Those were all just good evals, right?

Ha, rankings bumps and drops are all nonsense.  Kids go up and down all the time, and of course we won't complain about our guys going up.  There were certainly a few of yours that appeared out of nowhere (Hookfin) and others that seem a little questionable in hindsight (Owens), but we'll have the same thing.  Leon O'Neal was a .96xx something on 247-- that doesn't look right.   Mond and Ausbon were a .95xx something, and neither of those look right, either.  There are undoubtedly more on both sides.  Rankings are pretty speculative.

We'll see on the OT for us both.  I think Sam will do a better job of making yours look better than Mond will with ours.

His classes are highly ranked. He always lands a few studs. But he inexplicably ignores  positions. Like CB. And OT. Which seems not smart and might come back to bite y'all in the ass this year and next year.

Also, can you explain the narrative that our OL sucks? Or that the Aggie OL is vastly superior? You have no tackles on your roster. That's not good.

I think I may have already discussed it 50 pages ago on this thread, but IMO, neither of our OLs are worth much.  Yes, you have Cosmi.  Yes, we're hopeful K. Green plays like a 5 star.  But at the present, I haven't seen anything from either team that screams dominant OL.  We do think your commits get late bumps in the rankings, which may or may not be justified.  But I don't really care about rankings as long as the guy can play.

Correct on OT and CB depth being light.  Not sure how Jimbo allowed that to happen.  I'd have been looking around at JUCOs for both spots.

I think you mistake humor and irony for bagging on coaches.  We bag on our coaches,  (check the football board) we want them fired before they ever coach a game.  We are not fans of cutting grossly overpaid coaches much slack.

But you guys have a special circumstance close to our heart, we know what it looks like when a coach wins a MNC and becomes fat, lazy and stubborn while his recruiting takes a massive dive in a few key areas.

Imagine someone offering Mack $75M after he fucked over recruiting and basically got cut loose, who would be so foolish?   lol aggy.

IMO, Jimbo's recruiting game was great until this year (I can't speak to how he did at Florida State after his natty, but I doubt it was ever lower than top 10).  Yes, there were some questionable takes and the 2018 class is essentially a non-factor.  But this year, something is weird-- not sure if it's the recruiting violations, getting complacent or something else, but I'm just not seeing this class stack up like the last ones.

Not a single weakness on the entire roster. Based on this they should run the table, and if not, it must be the coaching, right?

Lol, lots of weakness on the roster.  No returning WR to speak of, no TE depth, OL was crap last year and it's hard to see much improvement, a largely unknown CB group, and mostly just Mond.  I'm not on TA, but as far as I can tell, Luicci has been way over the top.  Tarp is even really optimistic, which is strange.

You guys love to rag on the coaching, which is fine.  I think my only real concerns/complaints are that (1) due to Jimbo's stubbornness, we're running an archaic offense and (2) the OL can't get the job done, and with the scheme, they may never be able to.

I wouldn't feel good about a defense that was built to defend the SEC from 10 years ago. Most teams run some version of the spread now in the SEC, with aggy being the lone exception in the SEC West, and you don't recruit on the same level as Georgia on either side of the ball.

You're right, we aren't recruiting at Georgia's level.  I'd like to think a good season or two, if we could string something together, would help that.  I'm not sure how our archaic offense has much to do with the defense, but I'm less concerned about the defensive side of the ball than I've been in years.

Honestly, counting on road games to "not be like normal road games" but ignoring the fact that the same conditions will likewise diminish home field advantage is some grade A aggy shit, man.  Thank you for your service.

As far as the road games, I meant that in the context of Mond's abilities.  He's been awful on the road, and maybe no people will help.  He's been mildly better at home.  Of course, other teams will likely play better at Kyle.

  12. Hard to say on this year's W/L.  Mond sucks on the road-- even more than at home--but this year's road games shouldn't be like normal road games.  I am not so sure on the offense, in light of that and the the OL (although being able to field a more respectable TE group may help to some degree).  I'm pretty optimistic about our defense, though.  Should at least be able to keep us in these toss-up games until the end.

I'll be disappointed with anything less than 8-2.  We didn't really lose all that much from last year and most of our opponents did.  Alabama, Auburn, LSU and Florida will be tough games, though. To me, it all hinges on Mond's play, which is a scary thought.

That’s on the coach. Jimbo has set him up for failure every single year and this year won’t be any different.

I'm not ready to put Mond on Jimbo.  Maybe that's the homer talking, but Mond's ceiling isn't far off of his floor.  He is what he is.  For perspective, Sumlin started Starkel over Mond.  While that was a questionable call and Sumlin did nothing right, it kind of puts the talent level into perspective.

Well, he's had 3 years to get better. I mean other areas of the team need work, but at this point the qb position should be above average and an advantage. I am not holding my breath.

Yup. This one cost Burris a chance to sign with a good school.

Lol you think ou is a good school? And they say our rivalry is dead...

Achilles injuries definitely suck. Hope he recovers, but at this point, he'll be fortunate to see the field at any level.

Aggy is fucking MELTING at their FR TE Blake Smith (Southlake kid) for saying that if he were a TE/WR in this class he’d sign with Texas as well re: Ewers

Yeah, I mean melting is a little strong, but it was a pretty stupid thing to say. He deleted it quickly, but the toothpaste is out of the tube.

I like Burris as a disruptive DT and he’s a damn good get for aggy. I hope like hell that he comes back from the Achilles — that shit is rough.

@jordanaggie how does this impact Taleeq Robbins? I suspected that they were first to commit for this spot. Would you guys take them both?

First of all, nice pickup on Ewers. Yes, we're jealous and pissed. He was never going to be in the cards for us, but that really doesn't ease the pain.

As for Robbins, I suspect his spot will become tentative with the Burris commitment. It looks like we want Robbins, Malone, Tunmise, Turner and Goodwine on the DL (maybe also Landon Jackson, if we could flip him), but with Harris, Vaka and Burris on board, we probably only have 3 spots for 5 guys.

    @jordanaggie Sir, see above.

I'm not sure what kind of response you wanted on this, but I think both are significantly underwhelming.  Other than Green, our highest ranked guys (Blanton, Reed and Matthews) have been big letdowns, IMO.  I don't think our change to zone blocking did the group of prior recruits any favors, but OL has not be a strong point, that's for damn sure.
