  1. Moving forward I'm going to assume there no highs in the 70s or 80s. For about 330 days of the year we have highs in the 60s or 90s/100s. There are about 10 days each spring or fall total where you have highs in the 70s or 80s. And then about 15 days of the year it's highs in the 50s or lower. Every year.

  2. These Amazon Prime day days are absolute trash. So this year me upgrading my computer and Prime day deals ended up coinciding with one another. About 6 weeks ago I built out my list of computer parts and priced them. About 4 weeks ago I noticed the price of all of my parts going up. Every week they went up significantly until today where I saw they were "discounted" back to their original price of 6 weeks ago. In the case of my RAM its still actually 25% higher than it was. I ended up losing $30 by waiting and not pulling the trigger 6 weeks ago. Ive read this is a common practice to jack up prices in the weeks leading up to black friday or prime day but I guess I finally got to see it first hand. The moral here is to buy your shit about 6-8 weeks before major shopping "deal days" OR dont buy your shit starting about a month before major deal days.

  3. Until our offense proves something, my expectations will remain low. Line seems high. Defenses smell blood in the water with Arch. My low bar for him is to play well enough to not get benched on Saturday. 10-10 at the end of regulation. We end up winning 16-13 after 2 overtimes and that's not even factoring the weather. Take the under.

Diego at Vandy is prob the only one you can count on to carry you right now.

The pressure of being paid millions as a 19 and 20 year old is taking its toll. The product on the field isn't as good.

  5. Even though the highs are back up to 95 or so and will continue the next few days, humidity is lower than normal in dallas and it only gets to 94-95 for about 3 hours each day. Not a blistering day at all. I've started to think about what kind of summer this would have been without global warming. Even with it, this summer has been absolutely incredible by any standard

  6. It's too much pressure for him. And now the team will start losing confidence in him. Get ready for a 8-5 season. I've seen this type of texas team before. Barely being up 14-3 at half against a directional school is a season long problem. Its not a one off. Time for lowered expectations.

Yeah I pretty much told my wife I won’t say no to any family trip she wants to take over the next 10 years.  We are going to Disney World later this year and I’m going to be in for over 10 grand when it’s all said and done.  Definitely not something I would have agreed to 5 years ago.

Yup. If you've lived longer than the time you have left, go do everything.

Slightly off topic, but this thread seemed the most appropriate.

So the wife and I make decent money between salary, bonuses and stock. We max out our 401ks and we put another chunk in another account.

My wife and have a few nice things, but total maybe $25-30K which includes her engagement ring. I’ve always wanted a weekend convertible, but the thought of insurance, gas and maintenance give me pause. My BIL says I’m worried about those things before I even change the oil for the first time. 🤣

I suppose he’s right and I should enjoy life a bit more, and not just worry about retirement. We could probably do retire in 5-10 years if we’re willing to dip into savings, but my goal is to only live off of interest and dividends.

So, curious for those of you on the FIRE path if you’re treating yourself along the way

I don't need much. I live in my head most of the time and very few material things get me excited. They never have. That said, I have things I  like to do and have no issue spending the money doing them. If it's an experience or a memory I can make and enjoy for the rest of my life, I spend the money like I have an infinite amount. So far so good.

As an update, we are moving to Mexico in June and so we are gearing up for that. Wife also wants to spend a year I. Spain .  These are the things we are doing and spending our money on.

  9. Cautiously optimistic at best. Rarely do first year starting QBs win, much less play for national championships. Arch's 3rd year in Sark's system raises those odds some. Next year would be a better year for unrealistic expectations. I think 1-3 losses seems fair. Not expecting an SEC championship but I think playing for one again is a good goal. Depending on seeding, I think making the playoffs, reaching the semis again and being competitive with any team with a chance to win every game is a good goal for this year's team.
