Yeah I pretty much told my wife I won’t say no to any family trip she wants to take over the next 10 years.  We are going to Disney World later this year and I’m going to be in for over 10 grand when it’s all said and done.  Definitely not something I would have agreed to 5 years ago.

Yup. If you've lived longer than the time you have left, go do everything.

Slightly off topic, but this thread seemed the most appropriate.

So the wife and I make decent money between salary, bonuses and stock. We max out our 401ks and we put another chunk in another account.

My wife and have a few nice things, but total maybe $25-30K which includes her engagement ring. I’ve always wanted a weekend convertible, but the thought of insurance, gas and maintenance give me pause. My BIL says I’m worried about those things before I even change the oil for the first time. 🤣

I suppose he’s right and I should enjoy life a bit more, and not just worry about retirement. We could probably do retire in 5-10 years if we’re willing to dip into savings, but my goal is to only live off of interest and dividends.

So, curious for those of you on the FIRE path if you’re treating yourself along the way

I don't need much. I live in my head most of the time and very few material things get me excited. They never have. That said, I have things I  like to do and have no issue spending the money doing them. If it's an experience or a memory I can make and enjoy for the rest of my life, I spend the money like I have an infinite amount. So far so good.

As an update, we are moving to Mexico in June and so we are gearing up for that. Wife also wants to spend a year I. Spain .  These are the things we are doing and spending our money on.

  3. Cautiously optimistic at best. Rarely do first year starting QBs win, much less play for national championships. Arch's 3rd year in Sark's system raises those odds some. Next year would be a better year for unrealistic expectations. I think 1-3 losses seems fair. Not expecting an SEC championship but I think playing for one again is a good goal. Depending on seeding, I think making the playoffs, reaching the semis again and being competitive with any team with a chance to win every game is a good goal for this year's team.

  4. We need an embed or something for every post made on each thread. It would look like this.

    Post related to thread topic:

    YES                                NO

Everyone gets to click 1 time on each post with a yes or no. Have a +/- or ratio threshold of yes/no clicks. Then either create a filter for us to use where we can only see the yes responses or just a color scheme where yes posts are green and no posts are diarrhea brown.

I love that this is an "argument" entirely manufactured by talking heads who have nothing to do with Texas. Just top-tier clickfarming by masters of the art. And fucking morons nationwide will eat it up because it feeds their need to feel outraged and vindicated in their outrage.

Cowherd can kick rocks but I used to respect Russo.

I love that actually. More of those articles need to find their way to the players

Out of curiosity, how long has it been since you've watched Krull?

It doesn't hold up well. Your memories are better than a re-watch...

Probably late 80s was the last time o watched it but it was pretty awesome and I know I watched it a bunch growing up. The cyclops dude holding the door knowing is death is coming. And the scene in the swamp and fog where the old man is one of the bad guys and grabs the dudes neck with his demon fingers. Those parts stick out to me.  I'm sure it will still be good now

  7. Which year would you choose?

The only criteria is no re-releases allowed.

For me, it's 1983. I know some will say 1985 or 1986 or 1994 but they are wrong. I get 1 of the original trilogy Star Wars, RotJ, which I have seen over 500 times. I get Vacation, which was probably my favorite comedy growing up. I get A Christmas Story for the winter months and I get my drama and fantasy fixes with The Outsiders and Krull. There are other years with more quality movies. I know this. But I chose 1983 because I know Id watch the hell out of those movies and not just have a trophy year of movies that I may watch a few times over the years so I can brag about how cool I am for choosing 1986.

  8. It looks like the next 4 weeks are going to suck in dallas but to get this far into summer before the shitty heat starts is a huge win. Anything under 100 the next 4 weeks I'll take. The hottest 3 weeks of the year are the last week in July and the first 2 weeks of August.
