  1. Just a heads up: be prepared for the Herman support to start flowing in. He will be on the sidelines in 2021. Y’all may not hold much weight in what I’m saying since I was “wrong” initially, but something came up. I’m not sure what it was, and no one is telling me, but something happened in the last few “minutes” that completely knocked the deal off. I was told 2 things: 1. Herman will be the coach for 2021, but WILL NOT get any extension to help with recruiting. 2.  don’t count out talks again. We will be right back on Meyer. TIFWIW.

I need to post in the Tom Allen thread as well, but Indiana is on the verge of being a great team this year. Looking at FPI nominally is useless, but you can find out a lot from looking at Strength of Record and Game Control in FPI Resume. Those two metrics suggest Indiana is the fourth best team in the nation this year, and I don't think that's far off. Anyway, Tom Allen absolutely loves Indiana. I think he's going to be in a position similar to Mack Brown at UNC in 1997 in which he asks his AD if anything more can be done to turn the basketball-dominant school into one in which football is an equal. If he receives the same answer that Mack did, then he'll leave. If he doesn't, and Indiana commits to upgrading their facilities to be on par with the nation's best, then he will stay. I don't think he's leaving this offseason to be quite clear.

I'm incredibly interested in finding out what Brian Kelly's total compensation is. It's publicly listed at $1.8m, but I'd guess it's actually around $6. @alphahorn @RVC2005 @Dbeasy Is there any chance y'all know more about Kelly's compensation? @RVC2005 I think you mentioned that you have connections in Ohio, so maybe you know a little about the inner workings of football in the state to the west of Ohio? He's turned ND into a real playoff contender, and I suspect he's permanently elevated their standing from a pretender to a team that can win a national title with a great QB (maybe Tyler Buchner in the future?).

I wish I could give you a solid answer, but it appears the people I talk to don’t really know what they’re talking about. I’ll return to this post when I’ve calmed down.

Barton saying that Meyer will give the "No" on Tuesday:

    https://imgur.com/a/xoml6I1

He says in there that Trace Armstrong is his agent. @derpyhorndog I think you were trying to find out who Meyer's agent is right? Thought that was weird though because I saw news reports that Meyer split with Trace after the Zach Smith fiasco but maybe they got back together. If we could figure out where Trace is, might help with the flight shenanigans.

But I guess this gives us a clear timeline - if Meyer says yes, it will be before Tuesday (so Herman has to be fired tomorrow/Meyer hired Monday), otherwise it's a no. Or Kirk is full of shit.

Kirk doesn’t know anything. Yes, he and Urban are friends, but urban would not go to him and tell him “hey I’m saying no”. Urban is, and always has, playing things close.

I thought this was by just a random poster on their board and no mod has come out and said that.

I know the board he is talking about.  A mod on there has said basically the same thing.  Problem is, their "mods" are just basic people with forum control.

For those unaware, Mullen is a legit coach in play. He was with Urban at Utah and Florida I think.

Let’s clarify: he is in consideration, but has not been getting the push Meyer has been getting. Legit plan B though.

Leaving? He currently has no job.

But this changes nothing. Tom Herman needs to be fired.

He's employed by the OSU AD, but it doesnt matter, because this guy has no clue.  He hasnt been correct on nearly any other "inside" info

This is from an apparent insider on Ohio State 247. I don't necessarily believe it or anything, but this is what the other side is saying

    From Weds

    "What I know regarding Urban

I’m not saying he won’t take the job. But I’m saying it’s 95 percent to me that he won’t take it. There are false reports out there that he reached out about a What-if staff. I know this is untrue because the first call would have been to Mick and I know he hasn’t called Mick about this. Secondly, he would call Mark and that hasn’t happened either. I’m not saying there’s a zero percent chance, but I am saying I think all of this is ridiculous and I know there’s a lot of false reporting out there. If urban entertains it it’s only to take a dig at his wannabe only to pass it up and get the last laugh. One thing I also know that no one is talking about. Urban and Mack are VERY close friends. Not sure if that’s public or not but they are and they talk very frequently. It’s common knowledge that the Texas boosters are insane and run the asylum. Urban hates it when people mettle and he would reject Texas for that reason alone. I have not spoken directly to urban, but guys, based off of who I’ve talked to and what I know about him, this just ain’t happening. "

    From last night

"Re Urban to Texas Pt 2

Yesterday the Urban to Texas rumors were picking up steam, I wanted to weigh in and stated that I was 95 percent sure he wasn’t leaving. Then said 99 percent after speaking to more people. Right now I have officially become 100 percent sure beyond a shadow of any and all doubt that Urban will not be going to Texas. It’s just not happening. I would NOT post this if I didn’t have impeccable sources and wasn’t more than a 100 percent sure. There has been a ton of BS about all of this. I will not be commenting further on any of this, but I can assure you that you can take this info to the bank. I thought about saying this all day but a conversation with the last domino just occurred and left me without any doubt. I’m sure a lot of hostility is about to ensue between our base and theirs. I personally love and respect Texas fans and I hope we can treat them with class and respect. We hate Tom, not their fans who did nothing we didn’t do when we thought Urban was coming here. Best of luck to Texas fans and players."

This guy doesnt know a damn thing

Haven't you said "it's happening" before? Have you changed your opinion?

Also still can't believe it'd get this far without him deciding if he wants to coach again.

The guys i have talked to have been pretty solid in the past, i just dont know where 247 is hearing this.  There is too much tied up in this for it to not happen.

If CDC is really getting on the phone and telling recruits TH has job security, that is seriously problematic.

He's not calling anyone.  Maybe he gave herman PERMISSION to say that, but he's not going to follow through, and get on the phone

Urban isn't coming to Texas. That was always delusional thinking by our fanbase. Herman sucks no doubt but why drop $25 million for a PJ Fleck or Campbell type of comer up. Might as well stick with Tom.

Oh, look, a new user, providing nothing to this discussion.  You obviously have no idea what you are talking about.

You provide zero to any of this. You claim to have sources, yet all you say is that Meyer will not be here. If you really had sources you’d provide more. Typical troll

Man, I hate that shit too.

I think it was Nahlin on IT that first clarified the $12M/5 years. Said Urban is/was looking for longer and our side is saying 5 years.

Chips article is cover for CDC so that it doesn’t look like BMD’s are running the athletic department.  CDC will be the one to make the decision and the BMDs will respect whatever decision CDC makes so long as he fires Herman and hires Urban.

100% here. Can’t make it look like the guy that is supposed to run things is not running things

I love that y’all really believe it’s going to happen.  love love love it.

Because it is. I mentioned previously that it was big boy ball, with a big payday. This is happening. Continue your trolling, but it’s happening

I just peeped your other posts.  Seems like your "source" is on the UT side.

Yes. Father in law works in Ohio as well. Can’t say too much because I will out my normal handle. Main source is from business partner on UT side. And, no, before anyone starts accusing me of claiming to be a BMD, I will admit that I am not. Business is small, but i meet people who work in various AD’s.

An acquaintance’s dad has a friend who is a BMD, box seats and all. Said we’re allegedly offering Meyer $25 million over 3 years with a $25 million budget for assistants. I don’t trust him but who knows.

Not even close to being correct

I have to hedge a little because there can misdirection with these things but a source passed along the following regarding the possibility of Urban to Texas…

***Am told Urban is not currently looking for a coaching job.

***Source also said he does not believe it’s just a play for money.

This does line up with what I noted fairly recently about the Urban Meyer to Texas possibility diminishing.

I’ll continue to check on this. I have a pretty good additional source to Urban’s camp and I’m going to see what I can find out from said source this week.

I’ll also obviously be looking out for some other names – should Texas make a move.

A few weeks ago those names were Mario Cristobal and PJ Fleck. Don’t imagine that will remain though.

Don’t believe this. It’s happening. Smokescreen.
