  1. I'm about 5 episodes through season 1 and feel like there is a bit of bait and switch.  the first episode had the soviets getting to the moon first and the pall that sends over us.  i thought it was great.  then the next several episodes are all basically sunny for us and had a rah rah america number one feel, amplified beyond reality with the country becoming all about gender and racial equality backlash-free in the 1970s.  i'm enjoying it, but i guess i felt like i was sold on it being darker based on episode 1.

My head practically screams “Southern Italia!” compared the face of the lady who gave me my shot.

But yes, I am on the pale side of the Caucasian spectrum at this time. I’m not British-level white, but perhaps my arms are “winter Dutch”.

So you see, way back then Southern Italians were like wops from Northern Italy. They all had blonde hair and blue eyes, but then the Moors moved in there, and they changed the whole country.

For everyone getting the shot, are you in the defined groups, volunteering and getting leftovers, or something else? I tried to sign up online, but I would have had to flat out lie to get a slot. Kinda hard to do that when there are genuinely at risk people trying to get vaccinated. How easy is it to volunteer and get a shot that way?

my wife lied for me, which helped.  so have her sign you up, and you sign her up.  gotta launder that conscience.

  4. only a certain type of funny is possible for olds.  slow cynicism and off beat sort of stuff.  eddie murphy's funny involves life and confidence and energy.

after about 50, bill murray, larry david, danny devito sort of style is what works.

Highly underrated film. My heart is pounding every time they hit those damned sparrows.

Yeah, it's a great movie. I read some review calling it boring.  I was on the edge of my seat the whole time.

  6. i read this book and remember everyone went gaga for it.  i didn't love it.  it seemed very cliched man porn.  i had read maybe three or four clancy books before this, but it was the one that really made me realize he'd left the red october sort of espionage behind and just decided to make money writing stallone-like bits.

hope the movie is more enjoyable.
