  1. Yeah I’ve used both. Tapatalk is actually ass tier.
Computer expert can't understand why non-computer experts don't want to abandon the comfortable setup they are familiar with for the "easy" system he developed.

    J/k

But I've used Tapa for years with other sites and like having all of my different forums in one spot, the ease of uploading pics, jumping to my participated threads automatically, etc. I can switch forums without having to navigate in a browser. I'm old.

    That about sums it up.

Yeah, I used the browser method when Tapa was down, and I figured out how to show activity in threads I posted in, but I came back when Tapa worked again.

  2. When you get an Samsung phone, you set it up with a Gmail account to access the PlayStore. Pretty typical.

Well, my wife was setting up something for my daughter in YouTube and used her Gmail address, but then set it with my daughter's birth date so it will be age appropriate.

Now she gets a warning her Gmail will be deleted in 28 days because she's "too young to have an unsupervised Gmail account". I tell her she needs to go in and change the birth date before things on her phone stop working. She starts arguing with me about how she has a school email and doesn't care if her Gmail account gets deleted. I tell her she needs the Gmail account for her phone so the apps will update and work properly. I look into it and see she has to do the update on a computer and not on her phone. She tells me she'll "get to it later."

She calls me today to tell me her Maps directions say she's offline and won't update for traffic. She's got cell signal and everything, tried rebooting, etc. I ask if she's updated her Gmail account yet. Of course not.

    She's got 3 weeks left.

  3. Man, I just don't know how some people do it.
There's a retired couple in their late 60's or so that works out at my gym in the mornings. Always together. They go hop on the treadmills side-by-side and the wife literally just talks into her husband's ear, non-stop stream of consciousness without pause the entire time. He never says a word beyond "yep" or "uh huh" every now and then. Just stares blankly ahead. I presume at this point he just hears a high-pitched tone or something. After the treadmills, they go use various weight machines, and the wife always is on whatever machine is next to her husband, yakking in his general direction. I'd have to give up exercising entirely if every trip to the gym meant that my wife was gonna tag along and try to talk me to death the entire time.
This man appears to have the patience of a saint, but I just know that deep down, buried somewhere in his gut, there's a "goddamnit woman, do you ever shut the hell up??!???!" just waiting to escape.

  4. Okay, so some of you who seriously lack critical thinking skills are gonna butt-hurt about this.  So go ahead and neg rep me until you finally feel validated in life.  But let's point out two obvious things:
    1.  Laura's thumb looks like the exact the shape, size, and curvature of the dick you'd all most like to suck (and her too).
    2.  Elko's thumb looks exactly, down to the coloration, of his own head.
What the fuck are the odds of that?
    1. I don't sit around and think about dick shape and how it would be useful in sucking, but you do you. No kink shaming here.

    2. You're looking at his thumb instead of asking who the fuck the Texas Aggies are.

    3. Who the fuck are Rhonda and Frosty?

  5. I was delivering in a more rural area of Austin the other day (think a neighborhood with a lot of manufactured housing). Not uncommon to see loose dogs in these areas - mostly chihuahuas and shepherd mixes. That day there were two loose pits or mixes running loose in the middle of the street. They started barking and growling and chasing my suv. I had a stop about 5 houses down. They chased and growled all the way there. I was about to toss the package out the window towards the house, but when I stopped that turned and went back up the street. I watched until they got about 4 houses away and then opened the door slowly. One of them turned to look at me but didn't give a shit now that I wasn't moving. I dropped off the package and got back in and left.

But yes, I have tossed packages or left them outside gates because of loose dogs - not all of them pits. Had a black lab try to get through a metal gate once. Whole thing was rattling.

  6. A couple years ago Denver recognized the negative effect the homeless in downtown were having on business and tourism. In about six months they pushed most of them out and down I-25 to Colorado Springs. Austin should bring in some Denver folks to help relocate their urban campers to San Antonio.
35 years ago you didn't go into downtown Denver at night. We were told not to wear our dress uniforms downtown because the Bloods would kill anyone in the wrong area in blue. A high school kid got shot and killed for wearing a red baseball cap while unknowingly riding a bike thru a Crips area.

  7. I'm not sure if it predated the latest version of the site, but I couldn't find a thread here relating to the Austin Bomber of 2018.

But the Investigation Discovery show See No Evil did an episode tonight about it, including surveillance footage I hadn't seen before. If anyone cares to watch it.

I was doing package delivery back then, too, and got pulled over at least 3 times checking to see who I was and why I was taking boxes to people's doors. And had a couple people follow me around or confront me about what I was doing.

  8. It doesn’t say he told them 5 times. It says they were taking forever - which I read as the task is being completed. Also - directions were given, task was being done - why does wife need to be involved at all?
I'd say one of two things were going on:

    - there was a hard deadline like bed, dinner, etc coming up and they wasted so much time getting the task done they no longer had time before the hard deadline. Oh well. Too bad. I'm not letting you stay up another 30 minutes to watch something if you wasted 30 minutes before cleaning up.

    - this isn't the first time this has happened and they need to learn that actions - or the lack thereof - have consequences. You want something? Then do what you're asked when you're asked. If I have to keep telling you over and over and you only finally do it because I'm pissed off about it, then don't expect whatever privilege you were asking for. It's the kid version of FAFO.

  9. Actually, I told her this idea didn't make sense, but I thought I would have some fun with it.
Old scooper, now assigned to dog shit patrol is pink.....but the hens are red in color.  The pink one should be for the hens.
The new shit tool is green...like army fatigue green.....and the dog is a German Shepherd.  It makes much more sense to have the green shit tool assigned to the dog and the pink one to be used for chicken shit.
By this point, she was fairly confused or mad...I really couldn't tell and truly didn't care...but I got a few minutes of interrupted peace and joy.
But the old one has already touched dog poop. It's contaminated. You know how hard it is to boil and sanitize a doggie poop scooper? Will you at least think about the poor chickens?
  10. My dad was one of 6 kids.
Grew up on a farm. Kids slept upstairs. Grandma and Grandpa slept downstairs.

Dad told us that every morning Grandma would yell up the stairs to get up and do chores before eating breakfast and going to school. She'd yell 4 or 5 times before they started getting out of bed.

But if for some reason Grandma was sick and Grandpa yelled to get up, you got up. Grandpa only yelled one time and then would come up to get you out of bed, and you didn't want to be in bed when he got there.

  11. The bonus I forgot to mention is that she called me an hour before she left (because I tried to call her first before texting) to tell me she got the text and even mentioned the restaurant by name.

When she called later, she was laughing and said, "Guess where I am?"

  12. I'm currently waiting at a restaurant because my wife mis-read the text and drove 30 minutes the wrong direction to a different restaurant. She was already running late - because she's always running late - so now our 6pm dinner might happen at 7. Maybe.

  13. People think that, but Ironically, it doesn’t turn out to be an obstacle. Take the roundabout at 51st and the SB I35 access road. Because of the location, a huge percentage of the people going through that intersection at any given moment are unfamiliar with it.
Despite this, It’s the *most* successful traffic improvement in Austin in the last 25 years- it eliminated a major cause of congestion and a daily afternoon traffic jam, increased the throughput of the intersection while simultaneously making it safe and easier for pedestrians, and decreased the number of accidents overall and virtually *eliminated* injury accidents at that location. People figure it out and problems are rare.
That intersection was something like a worst case scenario, so putting a roundabout there was like testing a pain medication on a terminal patient. Barton Springs and Lamar would be a better candidate to succeed.
The roundabout at 35/51st is the biggest clusteruck to get through because it is/was a 3-way stop. That means that westbound traffic never has to stop and yield unless some moron going eastbound is doing a u-turn. Southbound frontage road traffic backs up a lot during certain times of the day because the westbound traffic never seems to stop. Roundabouts should only be used at 4-way stops.
