  1. Yesterday was the boy’s first time shooting a long gun.
Started with his Grandfather’s 10/22 and worked up to my AR. He’s a right handed shooter but is left eye dominant. Gonna take some patience getting him comfortable shooting.
Moved on to .22 revolver. He was really good with the pistol.

Tonight we are going to The Toadies for his first concert. He’s so excited.
I’m right handed at most everything, but left eye dominant…and I shoot lefthanded. My dad tried to force me to shoot rightie, but gave up when I put the gun on my left shoulder and started punching the bullseye repeatedly. Have him take a good number of shots both ways, see what works best. And no pressure, it’s about what works for him, as I’m sure you already know.
I'm also right handed and left eye dominant. Never bothered me shooting a gun (right-handed). I shot competitive pool for a while (even playing in Vegas a few times) and learned early how to aim with my left eye while shooting right-handed. Most people will adjust fairly easily. Might take him a bit to adjust to a scope, but I'd think just using the sights would work without much effort.

  2. FSU didn’t belong in the playoffs but they also had 20 players opt out of the Orange Bowl and didn’t have their starting QB. I think it’s fair to say at an absolute minimum the Noles were without nearly all of their top 15 players. I think my dad said they had one regular starter play on defense play today. Does that fully explain/excuse 3-63? No, of course not.
If any team ever had motivation to go out and prove it on the field, it was them. The fact that so many players opted out means one of three things:

1 - they knew they couldn't win without their hurt QB. Or even with him.

2 - they didn't give a shit to prove the committee was wrong to leave them out.

3 - both of the above and they're a team of bleeding pussies.

What was all the soapboxing about "if we're the last undefeated, we should be the champs" if most of the starters weren't even going to try?

They would have been better off just rejecting the bowl bid and ending the season undefeated. Then they could at least (wrongly) proclaim they should have a share of the title - and probably would have gotten some votes.

  3. Indiana does not sell cold beer at grocery or convenience stores. You have to go to a liquor store to get cold beer.

    So basically.... Dallas.

First time I was in Dallas (1990s) above 21 with a gf visiting her aunt and was going out to pick up food before coming back to watch the Cowboys game. She told me, "Pick up some beer, too." This was before cell phones.

I didn't know it was a dry county. I thought it was weird that Kroger didn't have beer, but thought maybe the crappy neighborhood had something to do with it. Then the next grocery store didn't have beer either. Then several gas stations without beer.

Eventually it became a mission to find beer no matter what. I got on 35 and got off every exit and looked around and then went to the next exit. The only reason I saw the liquor store was because cops were surrounding a car in the parking lot. Went in and got beer. That's when I was told it was a dry county and you can only get beer at liquor stores.

Finally made it back to the aunt's house almost 2 hours later. Gf had been getting worried but was trying not to alarm elderly aunt. She knew it was a dry county but forgot to tell me I had to go to a liquor store.

  4. Some reddit posts that people were dropping their bags and running. And of course other people were grabbing those bags and running a different direction. I'm sure we'll hear about some stores losing merch.

My friend sent me some crappy video she took while running out. Well, it probably isn't crappy on her phone, but the iPhone to Android conversion made it crappy.

  5. I just want to know one thing that I haven't seen yet - how is Penix when it comes to scrambling? Gabriel running is what got ou down the field quickly to take the lead at the end. Milroe had some big runs against us and his running has been big for Bama the rest of the season.

If he's not a threat to break off a big run every once in a while, they're toast. Looking at the 2 Oregon games, he didn't run for shit. If we don't have to waste a spy for him, it should help in other ways

  6. the current business model is to make 10 boxes and then send me out to deliver them to various neighborhood families for free, I think I can improve on that at least. i made a joke last night that doing this while 9 months pregnant is really throwing down the suburban mom one upsmanship gauntlet. she looked at me like
    200.gif
"that's maybe a little bit the idea"
Several local ladies in my neighborhood sell cookies, cakes, etc on Next Door and often sell out every week. If she can do these consistently well, she could easily make some money. Especially if she themes them to holidays, teacher appreciation, etc.

  7. About 3 years ago we took a 34-day camping trip (with a couple hotels at certain spots) around all 13 of the continental western states (excluding Alaska) and 3 of those days were spent in Washington state. It just so happened that there was a major heat wave going on and it was 108° the day we arrived in Seattle. The entire fucking city shut down. Even the MEXICAN RESTAURANTS were closed! I was asking, "Have they ever been to Mexico?" In Texas, people would be sitting outside drinking Margaritas. They were like, "Yeah, but we're not used to it. You guys have air conditioning." Do you think we shut down if our air conditioning breaks? Nope. We open doors and windows and use fans.

What I learned is that most Washington residents are pussies, and we're going to kick their ass.
