I coached Pony league at POLL for three years after college. One of my favorite things Ive ever done. Kids were great. Parents were great (for the most part.) I learned a lot. Crazy seeing some of my kids going to college now. One of them is a preferred walk-on next season for the horns. Really fun watching the good kids operate, but the best part about it was making the not so good players realize this was their last chance to play ball and encouraging them to leave it all on the field. Those rare hits/well played flies were always a big deal. So fun. I'll be back as a dad in about 5 years. Pumped.

The '18 class is loaded with arms. Elite arms too. Simeon Woods Richardson is probably the one arm Rogers thinks "isn't likely to land on campus".

Like I said above, the '17 class was a transition class so Pierce had to make a lot of late cycle additions. To put in in perspective, it was like adding a bunch of low 3 star/2 star talent to just fill out the roster. Generally speaking, I think Pierce did a pretty good job of evaluation because a pitcher like Elder has much better stuff than just a late cycle type addition.

The '18 class is a real recruiting class where Pierce can actually add a bunch of plus arms. The '17 recruiting class was a transition class where Pierce had to evaluate and find late cycle/lesser talent type arms.

Also of note, Texas getting Donny Diaz back next year will be big. Would likely be our closer this year if not for his injury.

Woods and Cobb are the 2 that will go high...Cobb topped out at 96 this spring.

Attended high school playoff game tonight between Westlake and SA Churchill (Churchill 6-5, game 1).    Two scouts were sitting in front of me and I inquired about Meaney.   They stated he would best be served at this time by going to Texas.   My concern was due to his size and stats he seems like a MLB prospect.     However, scouts are like talking to politicians,  sometime tell you what you want to hear.

Hudson Head (OF/LHP),  Texas commit 2019/Churchill,  looked really good in CF.    2/3 hits,  excellent arm, beautiful mechanics at the plate.

My guess is that he will go pro if he is drafted in the first 7 or 8 rounds.

Someone's parents had a literary sense of humor. Or that is an incredible coincidence.

coincidence.  My son went to school with Owen from pre k thru 8th and I asked his Dad about that.

How he’s he not a mlb flight risk ?

My son played with him and Cobb this Summer on Houston KC and all the scouts were watching Cobb.

Also, we played Burbank 3 times in district and I did not see any scouts at the games but, I did see scouts at Cobbs games at Katy HS

Burbank from Beaumont Kelly will be a freshman next season at Texas, he is a left handed pitcher/1st base with a great glove and great bat.  Hits for  power and average

could also play Gieb at 1st next year.  That kid can hit.

Berkman definitely seems like the kind of asshole that would campaign for his former coach's job.

Graham built their program but he has started the process of burning it down.  I don't blame Berkman, he wants to get it back to where Graham had it in the mid 2000's

A shit stain on the universe.

Hypocrites.  Liars.  Helped create the instability in the Big 10, and then tried to pin the blame on someone else while they ran off to a paycheck and irrelevancy.  Stabbed their historic partners in the back and acts like they were forced into it.  Did nothing to help stabilize the Big 12 prior to leaving.

Their fans, and really the entire culture of the state, sans for some fun parts of Omaha and Lincoln, are stuck in 1995.  They think they're a blue blood and a true nationally relevant program.  They worship Tom Osborne.  They still wear fanny packs and t-shirts from Wal Mart.  They think Runza is really fucking good.  They play Keno.  Attending a game at Memorial Stadium is like walking into a church service of a different religion and being completely befuddled as to what's going on.  They suck at tailgating.

They like to refer to themselves as the "Greatest Fans in College Football".  Lots of people will thank you for coming to Lincoln, but only when they win.  They act nice, but it's so obviously disingenuous.  They think they really are the best people that watch this game.

I've enjoyed watching them become completely irrelevant in the cum dumpster that is the Big 10 West.  Iowa is the only road trip within 6 hours of Lincoln.  They have no history with anyone in the Big 10, and they rarely play Michigan, Ohio State, or Pedo.  But they have that check and they told Texas to fuck off, or something like that.

    Fuck Nebraska.

So true.  I have nothing to add

Lot of rumors.   In 2014, he served as a volunteer assistant while completing his degree.    Story I heard/read was that he and Graham differed on hitting techniques.

In 2015, he and Andy Pettitte became high school coaches at Second Baptist.     Lance is still there I believe ?

He is still at 2nd.  Not sure if Pettitte is still with him.

These will have to hold you over until the merger...

With the latest news that the new president of the University of Oklahoma is in fact an alumnus & large donor of the University of Colorado; it opens possibilities that the school could find at easier to negotiate a merger, if indeed the alumnus & former faculty of the University of California, and current president at the University of Texas looks to do the same...

In other news, ESPN signs a 10 year contract with the Ivy league, and will be available on the upcoming ESPN streaming service...

CU - Colorado Springs not CU Boulder

I'm having a tough time finding many wins next year for A&M.

Substantial underdog: Clemson, @ Alabama, @ Auburn

Likely losses: LSU, @ Miss State

    Coin flips: @South Carolina

Slight favorite: Arkansas, Ole Miss, Kentucky

need to add their spring game to the slight favorite list
