  1. EBay 15% off everything ($50 off max) coupon “PMEMDAY”
This code runs from today (May 21) through Friday, May 25 at 11:59PM Pacific.

Important to note that this is probably stackable on items already being discounted or on sale. So you might be able to put together a screaming deal. (Insert mom insult here)
  2. I bet this goes on all the time with caregivers for the elderly.  Recently I saw some antique firearms being sold by a lady on Nextdoor.  I did a little snooping and saw that she was a caregiver at one of the local assisted living homes here in Austin.

These caregivers do a terribly important job for little pay, but unfortunately there are bad apples.

  3. We looked at SimpliSafe and Abode.  We went with Abode because it didn't require monitoring.  If you wanted monitoring, you could subscribe short term (while on vacation).  Works great.  Love it.  The thing I like about it is that is has proximity sensing that detects when both the wife and I have left the property and will turn itself on or off accordingly.  Works with smart phone.  It has worked flawlessly.  $400 or so.

My great-great-great grandpa and uncle fought alongside men like Burleson, Hays, Wallace, McCulloch, Caldwell, Gillespie, Ackland, Lucky, and Highsmith.  So I'm going to add their names.

    Jim Galbreath

Tom Galbreath (very good friends with Bigfoot)

My great-great-great grandpa was Ed Burleson who fought alongside your old Jim Galbreath.

    From wiki:

Known as the "Old Indian Fighter", Burleson was a veteran of the War of 1812 and had served in the Missouri and Texas militias. In October 1835 he was appointed a lieutenant colonel in the Texas army and served under Stephen F. Austin in the opening stages of the Texas Revolution. During the Siege of Béxar, Burleson served as the second-in-command to Gen. Austin, and in November, 1835 he was elected Major General of Texas Volunteers and took command of the volunteer army besieging San Antonio de Béxar and received the surrender of Mexican general Martín Perfecto de Cos. In March, he was appointed a Colonel of Texas Regulars and led the First Volunteer Infantry Regiment during the Runaway Scrape and at the Battle of San Jacinto.

Edward was the son of James B. Burleson, a company captain in the volunteer American army in the War of 1812 and later a participant in the Texas Revolution, as a Captain under his son's command. Edward learned of life in the field as an aide to his father, who could neither read nor write. Aaron Burleson, his grandfather, had fought as a minuteman in the Revolutionary War.

    Leslie's is such trash.

went there today bc it's right by my house, i needed some liquid chlorine and a filter, and my normal pool shop closes at 6pm (pool zoom on 281 in SA) and it was 6:15.

no one in the store except a guy that's been there for awhile already I could tell trying to return a bottle of algeacide for a bigger bottle. He was there twenty minutes bc the cashier refused to sell him the new bottle without taking the old bottle off of his "rewards" account. Cashier couldn't figure it out and accused the man of lying about his rewards account. They start arguing back and forth about how ridiculous the whole situation was. Finally their transaction is over and I'm thoroughly entertained but want to add fuel to the fire bc I hate Leslie's and more customers had walked in and I wanted them to hear me say "hey buddy, next time go to Pool Zoom. They have better chemicals, lower prices, and know what they're doing."

cashier says "next" with a groan.

i ask "do you match Amazon prices bc they have the same pleatco filter you're selling at $120 for $45."

    he yells "No!"

and I walked out. Ordered my filter on prime. Will get chemicals at my local pool shop this weekend instead.

Amazon has your chemicals too.  Shipped to your front door for free with prime.

  6. The last car I bought was a new Jeep Grand Cherokee for 1% over invoice.  I did my homework on the internet and knew the options/packages and the dealer invoice amount.  They got their holdback + 1%.  Deal was made within a few minutes once they knew I was going to buy a car off of the lot that day and had approved financing in hand.  The post sales bullshit still took several hours but the main deal was done under 10 minutes.

  7. My wife uses on of these bed fan things and she seems to like it.  $125 or so on Amazon.

  8. I like our Samsung when it works.  We've spent as much as we originally paid for it over the course of 3 repairs.  I asked the last repair tech if we should just go ahead and buy a new one and he said that everything that could go wrong with it has been replaced so we should be good for a few more years.  Don't get a Samsung.

  10. csb/      I have a friend who grew up really poor in Paris, Tx.  His mom worked at the Catfish King.  I was having dinner with him in Austin several years back and he ordered something that came with a side dish of tartar sauce.  He told me that it was as good as the pea salad that his mom made for him when he was growing up.   You should have seen the look on his face when I told him that he was eating tartar sauce and not pea salad.  Apparently, his mom had been stealing tubs of tartar sauce from the Catfish King and telling him that it was pea salad.
