What do you think is more likely

random loner kid sees a chance to take out Trump, and incompetent cops and poor coordination with SS combined with open carry laws allow him actually to get into position to take a shot and even get one off OR

Biden admin plans to assassinate Trump. Admin looks at all planned rallies for Trump

sees one coming up in rural PA with open sightlines from a roof just outside SS perimeter

searches their vast database of young male loners with poor shooting skills who wouldn’t mind taking a bullet to the dome in return for a chance to take a shot at Trump

finds one who lives close to the rally and owns an AR

mobilizes the kid and briefs him on the layout and shows him his sniper’s nest, which is on the roof of the building the locals are using AS THEIR FUCKING STAGING AREA

clears the locals while he gets into position

I never said anything about the government or Biden Admin..I just find it very hard to believe this kid outsmarted the State police and especially the Secret Service without inside information/ help..And, also find it hard to believe he outsmarted them by picking the one spot to shoot from that posed the highest probability of a threat in that entire place.

You are saying both of these highly trained organizations are that incompetent?

Ok, whoever you believe did it, still answer the question I posed - why pick someone who's known to be shitty at shooting and not even give him a scope? Go.

Like I said, who in their right mind would attempt it?  It's not like there is a line around the block of people that want to take a pop shot at an ex President.  I mean people hate politicians with a passion, but they only think it, not willing to act on it.  Maybe some local dirtbag meets this loner kid who seems like the school shooter type, likes playing with guns,  and sees an opportunity.  130 yards is an easy shot even with Iron sights..

He's saying state police fucked up. SS sniper put a bullet in his head within about 5 seconds of him being visible to them. And you still haven't addressed the pretty enormous question of "if the American fucking government was setting up an inside job to kill a political rival WHY WOULD THEY GET SOMEONE WHO'S KNOWN TO BE A SHITTY AIM AND NOT EVEN GIVE HIM A SCOPE.

I didn't say the government did it.  It could be a local dirtbag police with access to information about the security setup that hates Trump..You don't find it strange the kid picked that building after it was marked safe, and it's the one building that gives him direct line of sight to Trump and the slope of the roof shields him from the other sniper teams while he sets up?.. Who is this kid?  No military or sniper training, and he somehow picks the only spot in that whole place  where he has a good chance to get a shot off before being killed...Like I said he must be Rambo or Spiderman to pull that off on his own with law enforcement and eye witnesses everywhere.

Dude, they didn't find a 20 yo loner with average to below average shooting skills to take out a political rival.  The tinfoil hat is squeezing your brain too hard.

Ok, so you're saying State Police and Secret Service are just that incompetent to allow a 20 year old loner dweeb to outsmart all of them with no help at all?  Who is this kid, Rambo or Spiderman?

An inside job and you use a kid who couldn’t even make the JROTC rifle team, and give him a gun with no optics?

Who else would you get to do it?  Nobody in their right mind goes out to kill a politician and believes they are going to get away with it right?  Or, even live when there are sniper teams all around.  You think they would find a trained sniper with a death wish to do the job?  I mean I doubt there would be a lot of people that willingly want to sign up for this job knowing the job most likely ends with them being dead..

They keep talking about the difference between the President and VP having enhanced SS protection vs a candidate. Until yesterday Trump had regular SS protection now his has been enhanced. At least what CNN was saying.

So the difference in enhanced and regular is that with regular the local Pd is supposed to pick up slack and you get shot? Ok.

I don't think Pennsylvania State Police are like local PD, (think more like Texas Rangers type organization), not your typical rural police.   Don't think they would likely be as incompetent as it seems..

Now several people are reporting the building the kid used had already been swept and cleared and was used as a staging area for the security personnel.  These seems even more and more like an inside job.  The building swept and cleared so now local dirt bag cop or whoever helps the kid get on the building with a weapon since authorities already cleared/ approved  the building as a safe zone and not monitoring it as closely.

I read somewhere in this thread that the SS is spread extremely thin at the moment. Trump's rallies are out in the middle of nowhere because he doesn't pay for these places. So you're reliant on country cops or maybe some state police, I guess.

So they had deputy Barney Fife covering the "main" threat in the whole area, the one high point that didn't have snipers on it, and Barney had to take a crap and took his eye off the ball for 30 minutes? This just looks worse and worse for the security folks that were there...

He was wearing shorts, tennis shoes, and a Demo Ranch t-shirt.  The dude could not have looked less like a LEO if he'd tried.

This is pure and utter incompetence from everyone involved.  They basically rolled the red carpet out for anyone to get up on that roof and take a shot.  Local PD totally fucked up their end of security and then SS protocols/having to interact with the dumbass local cops led to waiting until after this kid had fired before doing something about the situation.  Then the SS's response after the shots was also a comedy of errors.  Let Trump do w/e the hell he wants instead of getting him out of there immediately, asking each other what the plan is because they had none, unable to draw/holster weapons while looking completely panicked, etc.

If I'm any politician that rates a security detail I'm freaking out and demanding sweeping changes immediately.  A kid who did zero prep work, couldn't make his own shooting club in school he was such a terrible shot, and who was spotted minutes beforehand by a gang of people who were alerting the authorities was a few centimeters away from popping a former President's head like a balloon.

Local PD?  I thought it was Pennsylvania State Police...If it was, it makes it even more mind boggling...Seems like an inside job to me, but don't want to speculate.  How does this kid even pull this off without help though?  Someone turning a blind eye letting him near the buildings?  None of it makes sense.  No way Secret Service and State Police could be this incompetent.  The only way this doesn't come out looking real bad for the SS is someone in local law enforcement  helped the kid..

I haven't posted on this topic yet because I've waiting for more facts to come out, but one thing is bugging me.

How did the shooter make it to the building, let alone the roof, while carrying a rifle without being seen?

    image.thumb.png.eb518e6f8693c701c0ad0c1105b4dfb8.png

A rifle and a ladder, right?  Or was the ladder already there?  Anyway, it seems like he was seen climbing up on the roof and then crawling around on the roof, but the police were confused or couldn't find him?  The whole story is really weird.  Seems like total incompetence by local authorities and Secret Service and lack of communication...

some friends and i were discussing this morning just how...removed and surreal it all seems. how disconnected and unfazed we feel. one suggested Trump is such a chaos agent and we've been subjected to such an incredible level of unprecedented insanity that all our calibration meters are just completely shot.

i mean the first mention i saw yesterday was literally right when @Nicole44 posted something in the other thread like 'did Trump just get shot?? he ducked and he's got blood all over his face...' and i just had no reaction whatsoever. i put my phone down and played with my puppy for over an hour 😐 when my husband came home later and was like 'somebody shot Trump!' i was like 'oh. yeah. i think i saw something about that'.

it's fucking weird, man. is it possible for a nation to have collective PTSD?

Yes, it is possible, but I don't think the PTSD is solely because of Trump.  The media is a huge part of it.

Nobody is asking for a license in Texas. General contractors and handymen aren’t required to have one.

Nice story, sounds like a magical place still where the government doesn't control everything.

I wanted to build a small cabin on my land that I own outright in the middle of almost nowhere in AZ with my own money,  and the County still has building codes, guidelines, inspections you have to pass for anything over 250 square feet that is not for livestock use.

Maybe I could hire some migrants to do it cheap, but wonder how many inspections I would fail?

Eh. Mine is pretty typical and not all that big and that’s in line with what I was getting quotes last year. A bit high on the AC unless you are running several 5tons ( at least as of a few years/SEER levels ago)

That’s fine, let’s curb our spending to help them out some?  That would help everyone, no?

In California, and especially AZ, they love it when your A/C goes out in your home or car.  They start dreaming about the $$$$ they can get out of you.  Especially AZ, because they know you aren't living here without it...

Either that's a very non-standard roof, a very large roof, or you got ripped off big-time.

That was what I was quoted by 4 different companies in the area. It was just a standard tile roof, on almost 1,900 square foot house....With a big back porch that got reshingled also.

As to your last comment, have you ever considered that the licensed contractors might be using undocumented labor?

Maybe they do, but they still charge an arm and a leg no matter, at least where I have owned homes in the last 10 years.  Spent 20,000 dollars on a roof replacement, and almost 20,000 dollars having A/C replaced on last house I owned...

I have done all of that because of people I know in the Border Patrol that have asked me to volunteer..I've went down there to help when it's Summer here too when it's hot enough to fry an egg on the top of your head..

My friends and I ride in on horseback and hunt and camp in a lot of the same areas as well, and have helped many immigrants with food, water, directions for help, etc.  Have run into several drug mules, and spotters up in the mountains, just stay away from those types.

More chance than anyone on here that probably hasn't even been near the really bad parts of the border, and think every story is sensationalized for political reasons, or just numb to the stories so don't give a shit..

If you're from AZ, have you ever volunteered to go down to the border with groups that help distressed immigrants in the desert?  Or groups that clean up the trash down there or find and bury the bodies?  Or do you just sit on your ass watching Juan mow your lawn In Gilbert, or Scottsdale?

That’s not the story, or even type of story, you specifically cited in your post. Yes, the cartels are bad, and do bad shit….which is reported, regularly. By outfits like CBS. Your post indicated there was some SUV overloaded with body parts, and the media won’t cover it. It also followed the discussion about the utter bullshit that is “rape trees,” which has zero substantiation. In other words…it was bullshit.
Cartels have been killing people for decades. It’s FASCINATING how it 1) just became a crisis that 2) means that the Dems are bad people encouraging and supporting such things…on January 20, 2021. I mean, what an AMAZING coincidence!

They did cover it, but it happened years ago.  It was on the local news here in Arizona for a while...

Do you think they cover border crap daily here?   It's like nonstop bad news, ranchers complaining, drug busts, dead people found in desert, cartel shootouts across the border...It's same shit, different day, every day, so anything that happens anymore doesn't even much make the evening news here, like that story above...First time I heard about it was from my friend and I read it on the internet..

    The cartels are bad. Duh.
But we don’t believe you on the outrage stories because this is playing out EXACTLY like the old “we found prayer rugs and Korans in the desert! Mooslem terrorists are sneaking over the border!” bullshit we heard 10 years ago. Exactly the same. Promulgated by nutbar right wing websites. No actual proof, just apocryphal “I know a guy who knows a guy who is CBP, and he saw it!”
While immigration is among the many issues that are legitimate grounds for policy debate, the current crisis is being politically manufactured 1) almost entirely by one party in order to 2) manipulate you into voting for them. Which you will do.
You’re being COMPLETELY PLAYED, and you don’t even get it.

If it was my best friend and nephew at risk of suicide as a result of the border crisis, I would be seriously pissed at the people responsible, too.  I’m sorry they are pawns in a deadly game.  I’m sorry you can’t connect the dots to see who is putting them in the position they are in.

Sen. Thom Tillis (R-N.C.) argued it is “immoral” for Republicans to reject a border deal to help former President Trump.

“I didn’t come here to have the president as a boss or a candidate as a boss. I came here to pass good, solid policy,” Tillis said Thursday, first reported by NBC News. “It is immoral for me to think you looked the other way because you think this is the linchpin for President Trump to win.”

Members on both sides of the aisle are upset with Trump’s attempt to kill the border deal to deny President Biden a legislative win. His recent remarks calling for GOP members to oppose a border deal that isn’t H.R. 2 have complicated things for the Senate.

Sen. Mitt Romney (R-Utah) called the effort to kill the bill “appalling.” Romney argued that there is an issue at the southern border and anyone running for president should be attempting to solve it now — instead of solving it later and taking credit for it down the road.

    https://thehill.com/homenews/senate/4432079-thom-tillis-immoral-kill-border-deal-trump/amp/

There's been problems at the border since forever, and it's just gotten progressively worse to the point it is at now.  Everyone who has been elected in DC that's watched the shitshow for years and years is responsible.   It shouldn't even be a question on either side of the aisle that we need way better laws around immigration...They all just keep passing the buck on the issue or coming up with really stupid "supposedly bipartisan" crappy Bills that they know will never pass...In fact, it seems like the only time they try to make laws is when they know that it won't pass.

I did answer.  But, to be more precise, they feel like they are not being allowed to do the job they were hired and trained to do.  They are basically being forced to be babysitters and paper pushers and work very long hours and not enforce the law.  They wanted to work in law enforcement and make a difference.  Now they are just used as pawns by politicians.

Top that off with all the shit they've seen related to patrolling the border for many years and the strain it's put on their family life then yeah, they have some mental health issues...
